So what am I even supposed to do in the beginning of the Bretonnia campaign? My town public order/control is fucked at the beginning due to the -20 from the orcs for 20 turns and all the nearby towns that I'm at war with have big ass armies near them so it's not like I can take them right away.
I miss the hand holding that the other campaigns give.

The character card for Isabella claims she is a 'powerful spellcaster' and a 'master of the lore of vampires' but I don't see anything that sets her apart from a pathetic necromancer. Whats the deal?

So I just started a Gelt playthrough.

The +10 armour feels good and makes a visible difference, but the lack of killing power is still a problem if the armies are vaguely balanced. Just fought 24 units at Eilhart, and while I won, I lost way more of my guys than I'd like, because I had no way of telling a single unit FUCK YOU in the same way as Karl does and snowballing from there, particularly combat lords.

Outriders just aren't Reiksguard, and while Greatswords are great, they're surprisingly fragile, as I basically have to use them as my Lord killers.

Just finished my Alberic campaign, this was the final battle vs chaos, which was laughable compared to the 2v4 he and louen had against every single ll as well as sarthoreal (which they lost, but it weakened chaos so much the fay enchantress was able to finish them off). Alberic is neat and has great bonuses to knights of the realm, and his trident spell is great for causing chain routs in enemy lines. The unit that exceeded my expectations in this campaign was the blessed trebuchet, which was able to put in work vs chaos on multiple occasions

My point is that the campaign is pointless. You cannot change anything, you are always going to fight an army that is much bigger than yours and have to do what the game tells you to do in battles.

Total War campaigns are great because you can change history and are not locked in to the same battles over and over again, that is what also gives them replayability.

Any good battle overhauls for Warhammer that make battles less sanic fast without going full vanilla DEI? It does not have to be auto generated. The best system would be like they had in Ultimate General: Gettysburg, a much better game.

Have it to where how you do in one battle determines what variant of the next battle or completely different battle you go to.

There are many battle variants and other battles you could come up with based off of historic plans and choices that the commanders could have made.

But in Ultimate General: Gettysburg no matter what you do you will always for some reason end up on the back foot at Antietam and even if you somehow win a crushing victory in this battle instead of having the choice to march on Washington you still run back to Virginia.

Same goes for the Union, if you win every battle you fight why the hell does the war drag on to 1865?

You said that it would be a very short campaign. On the flip side with this system the war could end in 1861, 1862, 1863, 1864, 1865 or even drag on to 1866.

The problem is that such a campaign would take a lot more work in order to get decent battles. Surely you understand why it's not very economically viable for such a niche title. You'd need a much larger budget or another kind of game to make what you want. Personally I'm happy with a game where I manage my army and logistics while fighting the famous battles. I think in all of our campaigns we've gone into fights with the VCs expecting easy wins and winding up with phyrric victories or even losses against armies that never fucking break. Beating the Vampire Cunts requires careful micromanagment and knowing how and when to go after enemy commanders. You can't just count on local unit superiority and the enemy morale shattering like you can with just about every other enemy faction in the game with the exception of certain dwarf units.

The game is shallow in every aspect and the rpg mechanics are some of the worst I have seen. For the most part they do not mean anything besides how big you army is (and by extension how much bigger the enemy army is going to be than yours)

The gameplay itself is boring as the enemy has a shitty tendency to throw everything it has at you at once so you just have to sit back and withstand an onslaught of never ending enemy soldiers and because the battles are so railroaded you never actually get to win a battle in a way other than the way the game wants you to win the battle.

I understand it is not economically viable to make this type of game but in my opinion even for what it is the game is just bad. It feels like something I would see on the apple store.

The release schedule is this- after Bretonnia like 10 months will pass and then the second game "Total War Warhammer: The New World" will be released and it will have Dark Elves vs. High Elves and Lizardmen vs. Skaven. This will either be released in late 2017 (we hope) or early-mid 2018 (probably the most likely because God hates us)

Skavenblight will also be added in the old world, Queek Headtaker will probably be DLC or maybe they'll add him into the King and the Warlord DLC for people who own the sequel. Who knows.

Then Tomb Kings will be the next DLC race released after the sequel. Since it adds new land I wouldn't be surprised if they also throw in a shitty minicampaign and slap a 25-30 dollar price tag on it and call it an expansion pack like the Jews they are.

Chaos Dwarfs are the next race after Tomb Kings. The Darklands will be added here, the Dwarf campaign will become more difficult with enemies from all directions and both Skaven and Chaos Dwarfs coming to fuck Dwarf shit up.

Then Ogre Kingdoms will be added last along with the Mountains of Mourn.

Then comes the second sequel and the third game in the trilogy- "Total War Warhammer: The Realm of Chaos". Most people speculate that CA is planning to split the Chaos Daemons into four separate factions based on which god they belong to, in order to keep the "four races per game" trend going. This will be released in either 2019 or 2020.

After this who knows, maybe CA will get GW to let them release a Kislev DLC or something. Minicampaigns will probably become their main form of DLC during the waning years of TWW. The license for Warhammer expires in 2023 so there are at least 6 years of development ahead, especially considering that they've separated History and Fantasy into separate teams and the next history game is supposed to come out in 2019.
