One thing I hate about the Berserk Musou is that you can't walk. You can't lightly push the joystick into a direction and have whoever you're controlling slowly walk in that direction. You can run, and then you can sprint.

It's kinda annoying and makes it feel clunkier than it could have been.

Shibata Katsuie: He tried rebelling against Nobunaga and killed Nagamasa because he wanted Oichi for himself with the result that Oichi went crazy and he got his ass handed to him by Nobunaga who didn't kill him because he wasn't deemed worthy and the latter thinks it's more entertaining to see him suffer anyway. Yamanaka Shikanosuke: Young retainer who has a reindeer for master, after his lord Amago Haruhisa went missing he set off in a quest to find him. Joke character, average moveset with a twist since the reinder supports your moves.
Ii Naotora: After his groom left her on the altar because he had to go fight a war against the Takeda she turned into a tsundere sengoku era feminist. She hits like a truck and has by far the highest amount of variation moves in the whole game.
Gotō Matabei: Best SB4+S character, psychotic yet goofy madman who went slightly mad after he got defeated at Odawara, he made a list of the people he has to exact his revenge upon and sets off to kill the ones on the top of the list. Fast and cruel moveset that revolves around tossing around his blade and attacking with his claws in the meanwhile. Awesome music theme.

Even if you don't like the new characters the ps2 era returning ones, Hanbei, Hideyoshi and Nagamasa and the completed moveset for the SB3U ones make up for it if you ask me.

If you haven't read Berserk, the start of the manga is after a lot of bad shit has gone down and the world is a twisted hellscape. It's a lot more edgy, and starts with Guts screwing some woman that turns into a demon in order to get close enough to shoot it with his arm cannon or something. Stuff like that is what gets some people to start reading it and whine about it later when it actually has a story.

Pretty much everyone thought that Liu Bei deciding to attack Wu at the time regardless of the reason was a bad idea. Even Liu Bei thought so on his deathbed. That's pretty much his fault. I can only really offer speculation on the reasoning behind the other stuff, since "It was Liu Bei/Zhuge Liang's will to continue the campaign" seemed more like an excuse.

I really enjoyed Nobunaga's Ambition Sphere of Influence, but the historical events can be sort of tough to trigger sometimes. That should be the one in your screenshot. The newer version "Ascension" runs the exact same game but has officer play, but I've seen people shit on that one a lot so someone else would have to recommend it.

Oichi, Nobunaga's sister,wife of Nagamasa Azai and later Katsuie Shibata after Nagamasa's death. I'm not a big fan of her current SW version, so I'll let you make your own judgement on her.

If you played ROTK, you know that the AI kind of has it's own ideas about how the game is going to go sometimes. So triggering some events can be tough if you are trying to get some actual story out of it. You have to make sure not to advance too fast sometimes. The events follow history, but there is less drama since it's mostly just text with the occasional CG or short movie. It's an interesting history, so as long as that wouldn't totally bore you it might be a good option.

As far as secret officers go, a steam thread had a file from some completed game that you could try if you wanted.

Keep in mind that the SW4 for the PC is SW4-II which only has story modes for some of the lesser and new characters added in the main game, so it covers a lot less time and uses a lot more hypothetical events than the original SW4.

Kai is great, but isn't that important in 4. She starts with the Hojo and gets married off to the Toyotomi eventually, although the games don't really cover much of that.

The events aren't usually terrible to trigger as long as you are playing on lower difficulties, since the AI won't do all that much. So it's a better than ROTK is most of the time. There are some odd triggering conditions for some stuff, though.

And yeah, SW4 is the faction stories, and SW4-II is individual stories that often go differently from the history.

As an unabashed DWfag since DW2, what would be the best entry point into the RotTK series of games? I miss when the DW series had at least a modicum of challenge to it, and while I'm not a huge RTS fan, I love the setting and characters so much I'd like to try them out.

Should I just start with the latest release on Steam? The reviews suggest it's much different than the older titles, but I don't have a bias toward them either way, obviously.
