Most of the time it's better off extracting, and that's probably especially the case with how expensive injectors currently are.

There are some cases where you're still likely to make more ISK by selling the character. A couple of examples being:

The character is crazily high SP, so would be stupidly expensive to inject.
Specialised cap / jump freighter characters.

You can sometimes strip out unfocused SP and then sell the resulting focused character to get more isk overall. If you're feeling lazy, just extract everything and sell the injectors. For best results calculate how much ISK you'd get from injectors, factoring in cost of extractors, and compare to how much similar characters are going for on the bazaar.

Camping in bubbles is useless unless they KNOW you are going to go through that gate and if you're in a ceptor you're immune anyway and have a 2 second align time. The people who can catch that that are set up for it are countable on 1 hand and there's 3000+ systems and 2000+ wormhole systems. Generally if you get a good run you'll instantly pay off anything but a bling fit T3 or Stratios so on the very rare occasion you get blapped you're still ahead.

Well, i got camped 2 times with uncloak-bubble on gate-lol on 2 diffirent days with map statistic being clear as fuck (unless they had scouts that saw me ahead of the time and then they waited all the time i was afk)...kinda discouraged me from trying again. I just don't see any way to avoid this kind of gank besides using ceptor\having ship so fast it can burn back to gate (aka ceptor).

With gatecamps like that either it was a pipe system which you want to avoid or they had intel, if there is ANYONE but you in system assume they're on the local intel channel and will eityher be telling everyone to hide or to ship up and come kill your ass. The only way out of those is quick interceptor or going in a heavy fit T3 and killing their tackel. They should have shown up on the pilots or jumps in last hour though.

I randomly joined a corp recently (I am new and looking for help/friends) called Mission Ready Mining, part of an alliance called Fly Fearless. Anyone heard of these guys before?

Highsec has CONCORD at the gates and at stations, attacking someone without a kill right or suspect timers will pull CONCORD and you will die, the higher the system the faster they respond.
If you want to kill someone you need to suicide gank them, i.e. your ship will never survive the gank.
There is NPC stations all over HS.

In Lowsec there is no CONCORD, only gate and station guns, they shoot fairly hard and cannot be speed tanked, but a group of gankers can avoid dying to them and often camp gates, if you are not near a station or gate nobody will help you.
There is NPC stations all over lowsec.

Nullsec has absolutely no security like gate guns or CONCORD, there is NPC null and SOV null where corps can own territory to rat, mine and build shit.

All have missions except for wormholes and sov null.
and "reputation" only matter if you actively use them for running missions with them and gain LP, you don't gain any free items just by being cool with NPCs.

Wormhole behaves like nullsec but without local chat to know who is currently in a system, and no gates, the only way to move around wormholes is to scan the wormholes.
There are 6 times of wormhole classes.

There's a mechanic called tracking, it decides how well your ships hit. For best tracking, you want to sit still while shooting and shoot at a still target. Other scenarios generally mess it up, so you want to minimize transversal velocity. Just imagine it like this - your turret rotates as you shoot to follow your target. The less it has to rotate, the better off you are.

Some guns have naturally shit tracking.

Big guns have trouble hitting small ships.

I will say its not a very newbee friendly way of solo fighting however. You have to be very independent with cloakly ships like asteros/stratios. I mean I pack the space equivalent of survival kit (Moblie depot, extra drones, boosters, nanite paste probes everything).

All that and basically live behind enemy lines.

Use your best judgement for fits, and don't be afraid to engage enemies.

I'm in a goon affiliated corp but to be fair the guy who runs Pupper appreciation/Cuckhold cleanup crew despite being a newbie is a really self started person. Which is saying a lot considering the morons who play this game have no Independence whatsoever.

I don't mind the stereotypical F1 fleets but I also value being independent and fighting on your own. Which is why starting exploration/covert ops both to do Relic/data sties and pvp is something newbees should first try. I feel good because I made my first successful combat probe mark and caught/killed the hostile.

First, you generally never want to use Civilian modules. They're basically just for the tutorial. Try replacing the civilian kinetic module with an adaptive invulnerability field. This will drain your capacitor a bit but will provide you with a bonus to all of your resists, not just Kinetic. Second, you generally want to pick one type of tanking, shield or armor, and stick with it. For Caldari ships this will almost always be shields, and especially with the Merlin, since it has a bonus to shield resists. I'd remove the small armor repairer and replace it with a Damage Control module. Third, the reason you're having trouble with tracking is because railguns are a long-range, low-tracking weapon type. You were probably in short range with what you were failing to hit, giving you high traversal. Try either manually piloting or using the "Keep at Range" command to keep your distance from what you're shooting, allowing you to hit better. Alternatively you could replace your railguns with blasters (the short-range, high-tracking variant of hybrid turrets) if you want to stay in close range while fighting. You'll also want to replace that missile launcher with another hybrid turret. The Merlin has bonuses to hybrid turrets, not missiles. Take advantage of it.

What seems to be a good way of making money? I enjoy the combat aspect of it and I feel like mining wont be profitable til I get high end skills trained up. Should I try to do the hacking and relic shit? I hear that has been good for finding loot and earning money. Would I have to equip probes and shit to find those types of places to hack and if I do how do I go about finding them best?

Mining is the opposite of a good way to make money. Stick to exploring and ratting. Once you can fly a Drake or Myrmidon you can start running C3 wormholes solo and that will give you more reliable isk than just exploring. A single site is worth 44 million.

Rat is short for Pirate, the NPC enemies you'll fight at combat sites. "Ratting" simply refers to taking a combat ship and killing NPC pirates for bounties and loot. Exploration refers to taking a probing ship, (as a Caldari newbie that'll be the Heron frigate) equipping it with a probe launcher and probes, and scanning down signatures that show up in your probe window. You'll be looking for relic and data sites, which you can hack the containers at for loot. Be aware, however, that exploration is very unprofitable in high security space so you'll want to go to null security space or into wormholes, which will require you to know more about the game to survive. If you plan to take up exploration I'd suggest going and reading a few guides before trying it out, making sure to learn about identifying wormholes, the Directional Scanner, warp-disrupter bubbles and how to avoid gate camps involving them, and identifying different types of sites.

The lower the security rating of the system you're in the stronger the rats will be and the better the bounties and loot will be. Since you're just starting out and using a frigate you'll probably have trouble with combat sites in lower parts of high security space like 0.5-0.7, so try starting out in a 0.8-1.0 and working your way down until you can't hack it. Alternatively you could do security missions.

I've found pirate faction null space to be profitable for exploring. There aren't null blobs and it's fairly dead. Plus you will have local so you can see if someone is in system. I would say it's a safe way to get comfortable with exploring at a lower risk than wormholes.

Also you're going to get ganked and die at some point, but you shouldn't be dissuaded. A single site can pay for an exploration vessel many times over.

All that really matters for combat sites is the security rating of the system it's in and which faction space it's in as the pirate NPCs in different faction spaces deal different types of damage, have different resists, and use different e-war modules.

Caldari rats = ECM (chance to make you unable to target anything)
Gallente rats = sensor damps (your targetting range and targetting speed goes down)
Amarr rats = tracking disrupters (your tracking gets worse)
Minmattar rats = target painters (your signature radius goes up, making you easier to hit)

That's just pennies, dont worry.

Use this instead then. It probably won't work for you straight away, but here's how you fix it. If you're going over on powergrid replace the medium shield extenders with smalls until that is no longer a problem. If your align time is above 2 seconds, replace the small core defense field extenders with small low friction nozzle joints until it's under 2. Being able to align in under 2 seconds means that after taking a gate you can break your gate cloak and enter warp faster than anyone will be able to lock you.

Hi /eog/, been away for a few years.

If I don't need to train anything on my main and don't need anything on my alts either, I can just extract all the extra SP I get and sell it, right? With current prices it'd be enough for a plex each month. Or is there something else I should do with it that gets me more ISK?
