Balmorra is about rooting out resistance on bugtown iirc, Nar Shadaa is chasing out the Pub presence via a shadow war, Tat is crippling the exchange. I don't htink Alderaan has one. No idea for Taris or Hoth. Belsavis is about getting data on the prison structure along with just finding more out about the planet. If you start KotFE, you will be permanently locked out of:

so you should do all of those first.
As for companions, you will lose them as part of the story (during Chapter 1), but will return either as an alert of through the story.
If you wish to claim your companions back immediately for non-story purposes, you will be able to do so via the Companion Locator Terminal in your bedroom in the Alliance Base, available on completing Chapter 9. If you choose to get them back via the story, then be aware that some companions come back via Alliance Alerts, which will have you do some work for your companion in their new life before they rejoin your crew. This involves raising said companion's Influence rank to 10, usually by bring them some kind of good. You can skip this part for companions who were part of your toon's class story by raising their influence rank to 10 before starting KotFE. I recommend doing this for all your class story comps.
