What's the Vanilla server people play on?

I haven't played any WoW in years, and I've only played a little bit before, but lately I've had a craving for something that Vanilla WoW might quench. I've even busted out WC3 the other week to play through some levels.

Years ago I played on a private server for like a month or so, I think it was Feenix or something? I poked my head into this thread the other day and only really saw a shitstorm of what looked like rats fleeing a sinking ship or something. If not a Vanilla server, which not-Vanilla is not-terrible?

Hello everyone, i will be making this recruitment post in the thread since Unnamed Individual decided not to put us
(a rightful wpsg guild) nor <No Queue> into the OP (for the reference, <No Queue> is a 10man /wpsg/ guild raiding ICC on GD)

Anyway, <wpsg> is a Cataclysm guild on Atlantiss Alliance, we are currently looking for a few raiders to progress Firelands Heroic.

Classes we could use right now:

>Caster DPS with a strong Healing off-spec
Of course, you can roll whatever you want and raid with us, but we can't 100% promise you a spot

Memes aside, how well does retadin scale with raids? Assuming they aren't pants on head retarded, and get WF totems for fights. Realmplayers has them bobbing around 3rd dps, but this is for places like kara. Theroy seems to back them up in damage, but practice doesn't seem to hold them as high. Also pickles should remember places like vinjiinz where our dmg modifiers for seals were 3x normal.

Will rep and others gains be 2X on HG? Or is it literally just XP? I'm normally only a 1X kinda guy but grinding another toon to 70 in TBC at 1X could end my life given how long it took me back in the day.

So 2X could be a nice change... plus I'd love to play Horde, especially after finding out that the Druid I rolled is pretty much obsolete on Atlantiss due to the high number of Ally Druids.

Server is in france. They have been and are currently implementing corecraft values for heroics and raids as well as putting bosses in their pre 2.1 state, mechanics wise.

Nothing is final for the pointshop yet, they are removing bags though and some more mounts are also to be removed.
You can expect a lot of pets, some tabards, "fun" items (like fishing chair and picnic baskets, disco ball), and some normal mounts to be in the shop though.

Why didn't blizz go the everquest route with expansions? Instead of smashing the progress of the game to dust for a clear-slate replay of a more polished but generic game every expansion, they could have just affixed raids and zones progressively through expansions until it game time to release the new damn game. The option would still exist to just leave the old game online in a functional form. There wouldn't have to be a decade of parading the old game in new clothes in an eternal "Weekend at Bernie's WoW Bash"

Imagine if Cata was just WoW 2 and a hypothetical non-neutered LK was still a playable game supported by blizz.

Imagine if Classic, TBC, and LK had a less extreme itemlevel jump between the top of the previous expansion and the start of the climb of the next. Levels could be kept as a helpful buffer, but the raids and dungeons of the previous expac weren't totally forgotten so quickly.

Why didn't they look inwardly when the Naxx Problem was addressed? If only 1% of the playerbase technically completed the game, should it not be a triumph of the underlying mechanics and community that so many people paid to play while not experiencing everything offered?

For 60-70 i usually just do around 3-4 levels in HFP then 2 per zone and skip long/inefficient quests.
