Turning a background event into the central focus of a game stands out. The Bite of 87 did not need an explanation, and neither did this ugly bastard. But we got them anyways. The reason I say that Scott is pandering is because the majority of the fanbase is more interested in the story than it is in the actual gameplay. The diminishing returns in sale figures reflects this. He probably compensates for it with the toys and other merchandising, but as it stands he's losing people with each game, probably because they figured they could watch someone else explain the game to them. Which is how this all got started, isn't it? Like poetry.

The "plot twist that fucks up the other games' story" thing can only be used so many times before people start getting bored. Scott's mistake here is not making another good horror game, but only trying to make a FNAF game to flesh out a wiki page.

I think the Puppet, Fredbear, springsuits, ect. shit is weird since Scott professed a love for Alien, and you would think that he'd find some commonalities between FNAF and Alien in that what you don't know or see is scary. But then again, the dude fucking loved Prometheus so I may be wrong on this assumption.

I get the feeling that you're being passive aggressive with me here, but I admit that I'm awful at detecting these things. Writefags don't need to suck drawfag dick, but the problem with writing as a medium on imageboards is that there's a very high time investment/payoff ratio for readers.

For example, the longest and wordiest comics by Rugrats will only take a normal person, at most, maybe 1-2 minutes to read. Meanwhile, unless it's by Gooseman or a greentext, the average story can take from 5-8 minutes. The former can be determined to be good or bad right away with a glance while the latter requires a reader to invest a lot more time and effort to determine whether their time was well-spent reading it.
Speaking of effort, the same goes into leaving replies for the two mediums as well. When replying to a drawing, it can be anything from a very in-depth criticism to a simple "das cute/spoopy/etc." whereas for writing, I've noticed that saying something like "That was good" and "I liked it" tends to elicit responses about either not reading the story thoroughly or being insincere.

Having a drawfag grab other people's attention can help, but I think the trick is convincing people that there's enough reward to offset the wait. For all the jabs at Poke, even before Weaver joined tagged in, people thought he was pretty good at writing comfy slice-o-life stuff on his own.
I guess to sum, writefaggotry is a low-barrier/high-skill medium where it's flooded by any dolt with a keyboard, but it takes strong, consistent skill to keep popular.

Neither had much in the way of fanart and attention from other content creators and they still managed to get their own small circles of fans. First of all, the "being here for long" thing. That's just stupid. Doesn't even make sense. There's no retarded moral obligation to waste your time reading things just because the person who wrote them has been here a long time, and this thread is full of retarded moral obligations. It seems it's probably just there so you can say that even the writefags that don't fit into the other issues are being praised due to some kind of ulterior motive. I mean, what's the point of reading Gooseman, right? People only read him because he's been here a long time, not because, say, he's funny, nah.

And then there's the "work with a drawfag" one, and the only current one I can think of is the Pokemaniacal-Weaver partnership, so I'll talk about it because Roommates fuels some very nice shitposting. I find it particularly unfair to say all of Poke's praise and Roommates' love comes simply because Weaver stuck his name on it. Poke had been working hard on Roommates even before Weaver joined him, writing profusely, and drawing the title cards for his first eleven chapters, which were well read and discussed even before Weaver came. Hell, it was Poke's success that took Weaver out of a /5N@F/ rut, not Weaver that brought him praise.

Now, I'm not saying that you're totally wrong, there's a shitload of dickriding going everywhere, but we've still got some very good writefags (and other OCfags) left, and to generalize them all is just rude.

Perhaps I should have rephrased that to be worded differently. But the "being here" was that there popularity grew over time and when the thread was different that the way it is now.

I'm not saying that any off them lacked any skill, but those things do generally help a writefag, with the only other thing being is if they do lewd stories.

Put it like this, there are two stories that are written by two writefags of about the same skill.
One is a fan piece about some drawfag's oc, and the other is the writefags own thing.
The association with the drawfag will make it more popular and make it be read more and make said writefag more popular.
The other is going to have to hope on people wanting to read it with nothing other than maybe a brief description to try and make people want to read it especially now.

In the past where the thread was different and the state of fnaf was different, it was more possible to get popular based off of only skill and maybe doing lewd stories. Now it is either association, already standing popularity, or lewds that get anything.

As a writefag, I feel like readers were more prevalent back in the earlier days of the general, but I'm not sure if that's true, or just confirmation bias. I did see at least one or two replies for a story, now those are a bit more rare. The "writefags are ignored" thing was more of a meme back then, and usually referential to how segregated the OCfags were. I don't know enough about this to have much of an opinion about it, as I haven't actually shared these thoughts with anybody until now. If you're doing roommates lewds or whatever, you'll probably get some solid feedback, but that could very well just be reflective of the usual occurrences when it comes to trends. The Yellow Fever that was commonplace when Benis's popularity was at an all-time high reminds me of that.
