The idea of invasions was always: you have this benefit that you lack at the start (human form), you need to go out of your way to activate it, but in turn you'll be invaded.

2 throws the concept out of the window, a player needs to inconvenience themselves (go offline, burn effigy) even if they already are in a non invadable state.

They should just give everyone a way to turn invasions and coop on/off at will after a boss is killed, like dried finger should be

I have a dilemma, /dsg/.

I want to finish Sirrus and Leonhard's quests.

Apparently to finish Leonhard's quest I need to give Rosia a Pale tongue then kill two bosses, and to finish Sirrus' I have to kill Spin Doctors.

The problem is the only bosses I have left to kill are Nameless, Dragonslayer, and Doctors.

Part of the problem with events is that, unlike DaS2, /dsg/'s active community for 3 is fucking nothing. It's the same half-dozen or so FC regulars and another handful of irregulars. When we hold a themed event it just turns into a run-of-the-mill FC with the exact same group of run-of-the-mill FC regulars. but this time with a slight theme. Most of the regulars can't even be arsed to make a new build to fit an event theme (or are too insecure about losing their videogame E-identity for a moment) and so just bring their normal FC character with some slightly different armor.

Vicars was the only worthwhile event we had for 3 and that was because it was something completely different from the usual FC duel shit. DaS2 events only worked because the game had such a following on /vg/ that we'd get practically a hundred people for the successful ones.

The 2H R2s are insanely powerful (really high modifiers) and combo into each other (one of the few weapons with combo-able R2s) AND the R2 roll attack auto-tracks enemies. If you roll immediately after someone else rolls, then roll attack, you'll auto-hit them as long as you both rolled in vaguely the same direction.

Different types of weapons have more effective poise modifiers, for example with a 2h hammer (they got massively buffed and have poise now) you will find it hard to tank greatswords, but a great hammer user can tank anything probably

The difficulty is highly exaggerated
The game is surprisingly linear and shorter than any of the souls games
The combat is a lot less stylish than it seems and most weapons function just like DaS3 straightswords.
If you struggle at camera control then you will naturally miss all of the important visual storytelling and narrative cues that make the game's story what it is.
The plot is basically just grimdark Flip Flappers with less lesbianism.
It's the least replayable rpg fromsoft has made

It also happens to be the best singleplayer experience by a country mile. I can't say enough good things about playing through this game blind and slowly piecing everything together, but I think you'll only get as much out of it as you're willing to put in.

Heavy is bad on almost every weapon outside of a select few.
Sharp is likewise
Raw is a time-limited infusion that becomes obsolete about halfway through a first playthrough
Fire is the same as raw
Deep is the same as Raw and Fire
-Deep and Fire are even bad earlygame against most targets because enemy split defense ruins their damage unless they have a huge weakness to the damage type

Poison is so bad it literally ruins weapons and a downgrade to rotten resin
Blood is a direct downgrade over rouge
Hollow is just a less efficient Refined
Chaos, Lightning and Crystal are all trash because split damage and not enough split damage to matter, but also no way to boost that split damage because they're unbuffable
Simple being literally worthless
Blessed being worthless for weapons and only useful for giving regen (a faith-based gimmick) to non-faith builds with 0 tradeoff since none of its penalties influence the effectiveness of a parry tool.


The game basically has 2 infusions that matter: refined and dark. The latter is just the former but can chip shields.

Because japanese game dev studios have to pitch fundamental design changes to a committee of sponsors (including the publisher) and get approval before they can go through. Actually organizing a meeting is a difficult and time-consuming prospect, especially after primary development has completed, and isn't considered worthwhile for minor things like balance.

Frost was approved in a particular design state (reduce defense and stamina regen) but encountered an issue in implementation where any meaningful amount of stamina debuff was too unforgiving and so was nerfed (probably at the behest of the publisher). Luck doesn't actually give you enough more bleed buildup to reduce the amount of hits it takes to trigger the effect by 1, so it might as well not exist.

And hollow weapons don't refocus existing scaling towards luck. Instead they add a paltry amount of luck scaling on top of it. Hollow builds still require both strength and dex to get damage, which basically just makes them glorified quality build that in some cases reach a slightly higher max damage than refined at the cost of like 30 extra levels.

My personal theory (which is based on next to nothing) is that the primordial serpents are merely individuals that managed to ascend to a form that can survive the periodic extinguishing of the flame with their minds intact. Because of that trait they are able to appear when the flame shows up again and try to guide the "mortals" into doing a part in some long game they are playing. Maybe they're trying to shake things up and have the age of fire end or get prolonged based on different parameters just to see what happens.

They also remind me a lot of how Aldia appeared in DaS2. Aldia essentially reminds me of a proto-primoridal serpent. He also appears suddenly from "somewhere else", like a giant head to convey sage wisdom about the flame and darkness and guide the player.
Maybe Kaathe and Frampt are like Aldia but a more advanced form which can survive longer.

New to dark souls 3 here, played all previous titles excluding demons.
Im at the area right after the pontiff, and see tons of summons sign and bloodsplats so I figured its a pvp area. Im SL60, 25 str and 25 dex, with a +6 claymore.
Any fight I get into I do 130ish damage per attack, but anyone I fight is two shotting me with hits of 500. If I try to progress in the area, without a dried finger, Im invaded by two or three aldritch invaders who also gangrape me.
Have all these people gone and maxed their weapons early somehow? Im getting my shit handed to me no matter what.

Their stuff isn't maxed out, matchmaking in the game takes into consideration what your highest enhanced thing is. So you're highest is +6? Then anyone invading you can't have anything better than a +8 weapon or a +4 unique weapon (those kind of weps count as double). I think the reason your damage is gimped because you're at 25/25 and it might have been better to try to just go all the way with one first and then the other. Also don't be afraid to use any resins for more damage too.

Also to answer your question, yes, the area after Pontiff is "the" PvP spot. The area as a whole also acts like the Forest did in DaS1, hence the Aldrich invasions.

Bloodborne is exceptional. To me it's the only Souls game with no terrible bits (Except if you count the randomly generated chalice dungeons and even then those aren't THAT bad.).

Solaire's quest is a very easy. There's nothing wrong with the bad ending, it's also an ending. Just like Anri's quest is very easy to complete no matter which end you're going for, both are acceptable and give you rewards.

I think they want the word of mouth spreading on how to deal with it.

well velstadt can cast dark bead which is OP as fuck in ds1
so raime+velstadt definitely beat artorias+sif

Bloodborne flat out told you to consume 3 umbilical cords. Doesn't seem to be much in the way of that with DaS3. But I did just give the lady eyes and I'm guessing this has some effect on the outcome of the game.
