Started on Harb then jumped to Covenant and they apparently had an alt there.
Then jumped to Coloney and renamed and they somehow recognized my typing style

As someone who spent most of their first year in SWTOR as preferred, you only need artifact auth for purple shit up to lv50. I easily equipped 162 gear back in 2.x way before I got the unlock.
I guess the logic is that if you're higher than lv50, you already paid something to the game, so you don't need artifact auth any more to equip relevant purple gear.
Of course, you do need to be a sub to gain CXP, so unless you're willing to farm ops and warzones for components and tokens, you're not getting shit anyway.

See there's where I disagree. The infighting isn't as stressed as the Empire because story/bwa reasons most likely. Thus it's not ever really developed. I think Consular's 2nd chapter might be the only time it gets shoved to the front and center where even then it's middling and downplayed as an issue since that's more about fixing their issues.

I will concede the only time it is ever really evident in stories is when the Republic isn't fighting something.
