Anon, Arena teams automatically advance towards whoever they can deal more damage to (or at least in my experience they do), by baiting I mean sitting on the range of whatever unit you want to kill (i.e sitting on Robin's or Linde's range), to that effect Nino and Julia are equally useful, but Julia does have more team utility and receives less damage, plus she seems to be able to take a hit better than Nino from Tiki and other slow red mages (and mages in general), at least doing the math, so I'd rank her better.

That's on paper, since I don't have Julia and I don't use my Nino due to my team not needing her (nor Julia, for that matter).

That's exactly why Nino is so strong she doesn't need to bait in the same way other characters do. Nino doesn't need to wait a turn for Linde and Robin to move into position so you can safely kill them before you can move your reds. You can kill them immediately and then move your reds into a better position without needing to worry about how close they get to Linde .having some of the best offense in the game that turns into a flawless defense is better than everything else

The best possible core is Nino, Linde, and Olivia with a random slot that can be used for bonus characters that has a buff you dont have. But until Olivia is 5 star you want Ryoma or another red with +spd or def buff so you can buff Nino while also beating Hector. Once Olivia is 5 star you can beat Hector if you have Nino giving her hone atk.

Nowi can also be a strong replacement for Linde.
