Don't really worry about it. If you not marking trash in a dungeon causes a wipe, then there's something wrong with that group. It does help early on but honestly trash doesn't hit too hard if you lose aggro and won't really kill anyone if it's one mob that wanders off.

Depends on the amount of enemies and general pace of encounters, really. Quick Nock is 110 potency per enemy hit, so if you have 3+ enemies it's going to do a total of 330 potency, vs say 150 for your Heavy Shot. However, if you're the only AOE dps (which is likely at your level) and if the other DPS is kinda lost and afraid (also likely no matter what level) you might blow your TP load and be left up the creek without a paddle, per se. So if you go and use all your TP and everything's only half dead, it's going to be slower overall.
Someone probably has better advice than I, though.

I chose the impossible. I chose AST.
Realistically any healer is good enough and can clear content, but people seem to prefer an AST / SCH combo. Scholar also gives you Summoner as a bonus.
Scholar is pretty fun, definitely more enjoyable at 60 than 50 in my opinion.

Learning monster moves, or some equivalent of it, has been a staple of blue mage since its inception.
It has nothing to do with FFXI.
If all you're going to do is stick some DPS/healing/tanking skills onto a class and named them shit like "Thousand Needles" and "Goblin Punch" what's the point of that class being a blue mage? It could just as easily have been anything else.
FFXIV already has a number of problems with a number of the class's job identities being coats of paint; BLU would just make these problems even worse.

That's not how I envision jack-of-all-trades at all.
A jack-of-all-trades can be best at doing one thing, but they need to be able to do everything else in at least a limited fashion.
This would mean that a blue mage in FFXIV would need to be able to at least off-heal for a period of time, mitigate (or have a skill similar to Cover) damage for a small period of time, buff others, debuff enemies, and be able to do damage to at least some degree (which isn't hard in FFXIV since everyone does damage).
At no point am I suggest a blue mage should be able to fill out each role in its entirety.

If you try to use it it either:

This guy gets it. The majority of magic based damage comes in the form of AoE and in both situations you're going to be used the same amount of AoE healing skills. This differs a little bit in stuff like A12 where theres quite a few magic tank busters, but for the most part something like Delirium is probably going to cut out so little GCDs of healing across a fight you could count them on two hands.

Well yeah I'm not considering gear at all. But a new group with no previous experience in the fight one shotting A11S even with a full set of welfare gear would be pretty impressive.
People vastly over-estimate how much gear helps when learning a fight. When learning,it's the mechanics that usually cause you to wipe, not gear.
Of course there are certain thresholds where the extra HP from a piece of gear might allow you to survive a previously unsurvivable fuck up, or where the extraDPS might push a phase early enough to skip a mechanic, but for the most part, it's the mechanics that hold groups back and to me the best measure of a group would be how fast they learn to execute those mechanics.
