Something that really interests me about Ouma is that he noticeably gets harsher with his words regarding the dead (See what he said about Miu for example) and Amami also reacts badly when Hoshi talks about wanting to die.

It does make me wonder exactly what the mindhack does seeing that even Saihara who did want to live also mentions at one point having the feeling of wanting to stand/die with everyone else. Not even people like Tenko are safe, seeing that wanting to fight off robots can be said to be suicidal.

Could it be that the cast was in some way compelled to just accept to kill or be killed to keep them in the killing game? If not, why are Amami and Ouma the only ones who gunned for outing the mastermind without killing them from the start?

You could say that about Saionji as well. Even Ibuki overshadows her as her death was built up to be a big elaborate deal. Saionji just showed up unexpectedly and was a murdered.....somewhere by.....some method that no one really cared about because they'd already got Mikan bang to rights with the unique bag used in Ibuki's murder and then it's all about Mikan's psychosis from then on. Honestly, it just feels like Kodaka leaving a whole bunch of dangling plot threads around which he may or may not use at a later date.

V3's ending in general just leaves more questions than it answers and I'm not really that invested in the surviving characters enough to be that interested in seeing them explored. Kodaka did kind of apologize and careful to treat it as a 'gag', and it did cause quite a shitstorm when the anime was airing. And Saionji's bullying isn't nothing to Mikan, which she admits herself. They saw her as a brat and Hinata and Kuzuryuu did seem annoyed at times when Saionji picked on her for no reason, like when she was helping in trails. When she made fun of Peko, she was ignored like thin air, so nobody took her seriously. Anyway, Ibuki was always pretty nice to Mikan in particular and keeps going on about her cuteness.

I think most of the characters are oblivious to their surroundings. Mikan, Hinata and Komaeda are the only ones that acknowledged Naegi in Hope Arc.
