I think I know what you're saying. Usually in a crossover there is supposed to be something unique created because of the best of both worlds, but since SMT already allows for pretty wacky things by design, a Suda crossover would just be a weirder SMT game.

I can understand it happening in Persona, since demons take a back seat to everything else, but how the hell did you get through Nocturne without fusing demons? I'm assuming you were grinding or just brute forcing your way through everything?
Don't you have favourite demons you get excited to fuse for? I have a handful of demons I can't wait to fuse in every game, and I can't imagine not devoting a decent amount of time to fusions. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or disappointed.

Believe me, it's painful as fuck. It's not really possible to cheese battles in this game and with the diminishing returns of EXP gain, it takes me forever to progress through certain parts until I eventually hit a wall where I can't go any further. Then I think about all the opportunities I missed where I could have recruited demons and then fused them, and realize it'll take even more time to go back and get some (if it's even possible at whatever point I get stuck), so I just give up. I don't know why this always happens to me.

You're missing out on half of the fun honestly. I know it can be weird to get used to if you've played other series where you can keep your friends the entire game but demons like being fused, especially if it makes them more powerful or attractive or something. If I were you, I'd start recruiting one of each possible demon in every new area and not moving on until you have as many as you can. That way you have a good pool of demons to fuse and don't have to worry about getting your ass fucked by trying to brute force your way through everything. Honestly as long as you can teleport anywhere, it's never too late. If anything it might be good to work your way back from the start when you're overpowered so there's less at stake recruiting demons. SMTIV/A are really good in terms of demon recruiting too, a lot more easy to manipulate than other games, especially with apps.

What are your favourite demons? Maybe design your ideal team, then figure out everything you need to get that team and work up to it. Eventually you'll have a bunch of demons and a more fleshed out compendium, so you won't have to worry.

I thought Final's main flaw was giving too much focus and giving demons too little time. The humans barely had anything of substance to say, only whining about being slave to demons, reacting to the situation, or worshiping Flynn like a messiah. Krishna and the Divine Powers seemed like they were more content with sitting back and watching humans screw up, only showing up when the coast is clear. Every other non Divine Powers demon like the Fiends, or Loki just looked bored and doing something to amuse themselves.

Haven't played Final yet, but after playing IV and going back to finish Nocturne, I really miss some of the quality of life improvements. Trying to get the skills you want on a new demon and just selecting and cancelling over and over in Nocturne is unnecessarily tedious. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about seeing enemies on the overworld but I've never been a fan of random encounters anyway. I think it'd be neat to see the actual enemy model instead of a glitchy silhouette deal but I'm not sure if that would work.
I'm sure someone will disagree but I think being able to save anywhere is a massive improvement. I never really had to reset in IV for anything but there's definitely been a handful of times in Nocturne where I have to backtrack and watch an unskippable cutscene.

There's meant to be a sense of impending disaster all throughout nocturne. You shouldn't just be able to save whenever, or dying frequently just becomes ceremonial rather than imposing.

It wouldn't really get rid of it IMO, especially since there's so many save points to begin with. Usually there will be one right outside a big boss even. I can count my Nocturne deaths on one hand so admittedly it's just a small gripe but still a gripe. Now that I think of it, I think unskippable cutscenes or not being able to fast forward is what bothers me the most.

As anon above said, World is absolutely nothing like SMT. Still worth checking out, it's a pretty unique game if you're into that sort of thing.

Cyber Sleuth is pretty cruisy. I wouldn't go in expecting any SMT-like themes, but you do have a team of Digimon that you collect en masse and digivolve like crazy, sort of similarly to Demon-fusing. The game is easy, but it's fun to play through casually.
