I find the VSN a little weak compared to other SMGs, but I have good accuracy using it with the Reflex sight.

Make his head smaller, make his shield larger, make him 2/2 so he can actually breach a room at something other than a snail's pace. The flash has pretty tragic range and it'd be nice if you could close the distance to your target that little bit faster.

2/2 is pretty much all he needs. His traps are already effective enough if you know how to use them, giving him the ability to place them further out will make him much better. Invisible laser is a possibility, but may be too much. You can't check literally every single door at two points from both sides before you move through it, that'd be tedious and unfun.

Tachanka's weakness is that his turret should be proportional in damage to the risk it takes with mobility.

Right now accuracy sucks - in a game where everyone has laser beams. The shield has drastically helped, but a deployable shield to protect your bottom half severely cuts turret utility since you can't even aim at the torso at times. So at best you feel limited and at worse you are trying to kill someone you are shooting at but not landing hits

Tachanka doesn't work not because he goes against a very specific mantra of the game, but because his going against the tide is not a balanced proposition. You can defend shit from behind cover better as anyone EXCEPT Tachanka in many cases.

There are a few objectives where he is alright, like behind the Bar in Chalet - but those are limited and not even every map has one good Tachanka spot - like where the fuck is a good spot on house for Tachanka?

They're basing the balance around Pro League, and so far Caveira is a non-factor in it. The idea is Jackal is the counter to most roamers while Caveira is his counter.

It sounds stupid, but in a way it's good because Jackal is going to fuck roamers hard, so forcing this cat and mouse game on him will keep him from shutting down roaming in general.

I think you are underestimating the power of Hibana and how it will largely match Mira irrelevant, except on some very specific objectives and walls.

The mindset of "They are going to get in anyways, so we should counter them" is a move you see a lot of Echo players use - they'll keep the drone super close to the objective or even in the objective room. Once the attackers get in? They can prevent them from reliably moving further.

Of course. I'm not saying he's good. Getting a kill is nice, but damaging them and wasting time is my main priority. I shit you not this is my rank strategy:

I only do it round 1 because I catch them off guard since they think I'm a normal peeker and they wind up trying to trade against the shield. It also forces them to waste more time by slowly approaching the building every round afterwards because they don't know if I'll pull out Tachanka again.

But yeah the buggy piece of shit needs some fixing and a buff, mostly reducing the recoil that was never needed. My turret's sight starts fucking up towards the end of the webm; this shit happens constantly in games.

I have found that one way to make Kapkan an effective pick is on some maps, like Yacht, if you laser up a flank and provide active resistance to attackers, it can distract them enough to trip the IED's.

So once attackers enter, I engage and harass them enough so when they try and flank or go through another room, they might not notice the IED.

It's super circumstantial and not really a strategy I would rely on for ranked (where I want the highest probability of success) but it seems like maybe instead of a laser through the doorway it's a light, like on C4 right now, so it's easy if you are looking at it, but it's not a line across a doorway

If it required you to have direct LOS on it, cause right now with a trap I can see the laser through the doorway, but most of the time you are placing Kapkan IED's in a way the enemy would likely not see the box itself - You pretty much have to be dead center with a doorway to see an IED on either side, but as we know you are usually off on one side to the door or another.

Jackal will not be a huge game-changer for the meta.

After a week or so people know to expect Jackal and they'll start deliberately using their Footprints to lead him into a trap.

Anyway IQ should be far better as the primary thing you need to win in this game isn't good shooting, its information. IQ should be a lot better with her ability, it's just weirdly integrated and they've added to many other cues to gadgets to warrant bringing her. An invisible laser actually gives her a niche role to fill. If you want to run a rush strat, bring IQ. She's got frags, speed and good guns. If you don't, it's really not hard to identify traps through other means. I always drone and check my corners. You're not a shitter are you anon? You can follow kapkan in the prep phase and find them or at least get an idea. There's only 3 to remember. Twitch is great for removing traps. Thatcher does a decent job.

Reposting from two threads ago because it's neat

Baolei: Hong Kong Defense operator.
Deploys a large shield that can help hold down hallways. Has a peeking slot that can be opened or closed depending on the situation.

Sheshou: Hong Kong Attack operator.
Can deploy two crude "turrets" that hold down a line of fire in which it's aimed. Holds 100 rounds but overheats for a window of about 5 seconds after 50. Can only be destroyed by a melee attack.

Hangman: Polish Defense operator.
Deploys two difficult to spot traps that hang from the ceiling, once somebody is caught they cannot get down on their own and need a teammate to take them down, a very time consuming process. After 3 seconds, they will start taking 5 damage every second until death.

Hussar: Polish Attack operator.
2 Speed/2 Armor shield operator. Special ability is to grab the shield with both hands and rush forward, breaking through wooden barricades and cracking walls.

Hwacha: Korean Defense operator.
Can deploy a remote operated battery of flechette rounds that pierce through walls and deal bleeding damage with glancing blows. Has very large damage falloff but is practically a one shot kill to anybody within a 3m range. Remote detonated.

Mole: Korean Attack operator.
Carries a special launcher that has three different shots, one of each. The first is a high impact round that sends a concussive wave into a room through a wall. The second is a camera that burrows into the wall and into the room it's shot at. Can only be accessed by Mole. The third is a grenade that releases thick smoke into the room until it is shot or runs out.

Have you watched any of the pro games this invitational? They barely reinforced the objective rooms. They were mostly reinforcing key choke points and/or prefire spots. If you box yourself in by reinforcing your room and turning it into a box of metal you're just making it harder on yourself.

his gadget is already a better version of frag grenades, his entire design is about being exclusively a fragger, not a breacher. He relies on his team to open things up to allow him to move freely and murder things. Giving him access to breaching charges would be contrary to his design.
