They are not really OP, it's mostly because in regular FE games, you always have access to a mage or two to take care of them
In FEH, you have a limited amount of units, both in availability and in gameplay (only 4 per "army") so one armored unit is all it takes for the game to throw a wrench at your progress

Depends on how waifu oriented you are. If you're going for a top lineup then it's best to just do easy rerolls till you get at least two good 5*s.

4* Shanna for me here; 37 ATK and 28 speed at level 36, a 4 speed drop aura meaning anyone with less than 27 speed is at risk of being doubled, and a decent special on a 2 CD thanks to her Killer Lance. Not to mention Desperation 3.

I may actually make her my first 4* -> 5* promotion as someone with 4* Camilla and 4* Fae because I'm falling in love with her.

I want to hoard Orbs, but I also can't help but feel like my roster is severely lacking at the moment.

I've already done Castle upgrades and (I believe) three full rolls, but Leo isn't doing as much carrying as he did to start and the red-heavy aspect of the team is really making it hard to be as successful at these higher levels. Hell, the only reason Sharena is seeing any screen time is because she fills the need for a blue semi-tanky unit.
