Yep. The constant PEOPLE DON'T WANT DANGAN RONPA TO END, IT'S THEIR FAULT THAT THIS DESPAIR IS HAPPENING, REEEE would have been funny had it been an incidental joke or small detail that had not been smashed in your face repeatedly for literal hours.

Hell, the reality show twist would have been fine or interesting had they not tried to make it a morality lesson about the player and instead actually tried to do some world building (that doesn't break the fourth wall by its very nature).

Kodaka seriously fucked himself over if he ever wants to do more with this universe without retconning the shit out of it to have it make coherent sense as a functional fictional world and not this half fictional, half fourth wall breaking thing. Maybe that was the point, but man, it's annoying.

Like I kind of don't care, but I still want to see more about everyone's (fake) backstory and character. Tsumugi's still a pretty lackluster mastermind though, even with her entertaining cosplay switching.

Come to think of it, a lot of the problems with the ending could have been fixed if the focus was put on Tsumugi as a crazed dangan ronpa fan causing this killing game to happen out of pure fanatic love for the series instead of making it a direct morality lecture to the player/audience. It would've achieved the same "calling out" (crazed fanaticism for despair is causing these games) but in a much funnier and less aggravating way.

The complete memory replacement aspect may be the single most fucked up thing about this entire reality show thing.

As evidenced by Maki and Hoshi's backstories, there's really no limit as to what sort of fucked up things TDR is willing to include in the implanted memories of these kids. Messed up childhoods, abusive parents, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, poverty, abandonment, isolation- all of it's fair game, and since it's likely that many of the students wouldn't talk much about their own traumas during a killing game, most of that horrendous shit is shoved in their brains solely to cause their own personal misery without any "entertainment" value to the viewers.

There are probably students who have been mindhacked to think their parents died or abused them, or that they were raped/molested, or that they suffered at the hands of bullies or authority figures. That's pretty fucked.

Nah, you can make it look pretty realistic without drinking it and even with taking the cap off, especially if you're a good actor (like Ouma):

1. Take off lid.
2. Wrap your lips entirely around the tip and stick your tongue directly against the opening of the bottle so no liquid can flow out.

We know pretty much literally nothing about this world except they're all okay with teenagers either signing up or being kidnapped into killing games regularly, and that they're all super danganronpa fans. No further explanation than that and a lot of fourth wall breaking.

The V3 world feels more like a metaphor than it does like a coherent fictional world, and that causes some serious dissonance when compared to the previous games.

That was one fuck-up, or two if you consider that she seriously thought she could murder Ouma without him already noticing her acting suspiciously beforehand.

Maki lies about her involvement with Hoshi in trial 2 and ends up looking even more suspicious, and to my knowledge she does and says a number of things in trial 5 that also messes up things like insisting Ouma had to be in the Exisal and arguing with Saihara when he confronted her. Those are fuckups as she could have gotten everyone executed over a false verdict.

If dissent is punished, the world is forcibly tranquil and being able to see despair happening is why these killings games happen (it really looks like they're being forced to do those audition videos under duress; they're giving "justification" as to why they should be killed for entertainment), then that has some terrible implications for how they get these kids for so many of these games.

Clearly, there's money in it, and it's logical that it's not only for winning but also for entering in the first place. Besides kids "willingly" volunteering for it, I can imagine there's a market for trafficking, kidnapping or otherwise forcing kids to enter the games for the monetary benefit. There are probably parents who are willing to send/sell out their "problem child" who is "causing disorder/despair" in their house for money. Delinquents, orphans or runaways in schools suddenly become assets to anyone greedy enough to sell them out.
