Companions don't even have relationship status to my knowledge, so I have no idea how that would work out.

The most effective and probably simple method would be to make claimants/claimant-monarchs become regular lords once they lose their domain (or abandon their quest, but that would be too easy). Apparently there are already mods that have recruitable monarchs, so there is some precedent. That way you could just give your claimant a throne, rebel and conquer them (this part should be easy), then make them the queen of your personal kingdom.

Yeah, that is one of my favorite underrated features in Warband. I also wind up spending 1-2 points in Power Throw even if I'm not a huscarl/peltast, just so I have the option to grab a javelin from the field and stick it in an enemy if the opportunity is there. Invaluable when battles become protracted to collect missiles from the ground or stuck in walls.

Surprised by how much I'm enjoying AD 1257. Playing the anon's modded version. Been doing mercenary work for the Portuguese empire and helping them take castles and cities from Castille, getting into some massive battles along the way.

It's interesting that you get a (seemingly very high) chance to "permaloot" an item you've picked up during battle. I've found two particularly good uses for this
- getting off my Palfrey, and hopping on a very fancy knightly horse, boom free horse
- killing the guy holding the flag and taking his flag, for some reason these are ridiculously valuable (I think their base value is 40k florins)
The flag thing seems to work regardless of quality of enemy, see some robbers with a flag grab that sucker!!

Stealing enemies shit and selling it has always been a good early-game money maker in AD1257.

Also worth mentioning that all roaming bandits are forced to return to the lair periodically. If you sit right on top of the lair, every sea raider in the area will come right to you.

Really makes those "Hunt down bandit gang" quests a breeze.
