Syringer might be super viable in FROST simply due to the ease of crafting its ammo. Does the bleed dart work against enemies of any level?

All the more reason for the FO community to circle the brahmin wagons, flush out our toolset and develop this thing our own damn selves.Fallout has such a mixture of americana-kitsch, futurism and retro-futurism that the sky is really the limit for what you can throw in it. Like I said, the LL bondage slavery shit is unlike its shoehorning in skyrim actually as believable as adding ayylmaos or plasma guns or tanks or whatever moves you. Medieval fantasy is just so... limiting. I dunno.

I'd really want to use a SE to make settlements fucking great. Randomise models, flesh out the citizenry, add god knows what nifty features based on whatever scripting tools SE gives us. Maybe even start porting the very best of the new vegas ideas like vehicles and the like.

They optimized the game and improved the graphics, that's what value they added to SE. I expected nothing from SE, actually I expected it to be a shitty console mods cash in and I used to be one of the biggest people who shit on it, but I was fucking shocked when I saw how well it ran. Original modded skyrim runs at sub 30 FPS in heavy areas with mods, while SE runs at 60 FPS, and has great looking ambient occlusion and volumetric lighting. I can't even play the original anymore after this, I deleted it and all the mods I had collected over the years in favor of SE, just because of how good it runs, and the fact that the improved graphics means an ENB is no longer necessary further leading to a better framerate.

SE has a bad rap because of the lack of SKSE and other mods having to be ported but if you like your FPS like me it's impossible to go back to the original, SKSE or no.

Walk right up to the thing you want to disable and click on it in the console and enter disable, you need to be face to face with it because a lot of the time there's mist or some shit that you'll accidentally click on and disable

if you accidentally disable something you didn't want, just type "enable" to bring it back, I think this only works if you don't leave the console or it deselects whatever was disabled

I think once we get F4SE and can have things like randomised placeables, randomly named generic settlers and several models for the same thing and such and so on settlements will be much better. Some modder might even come up with completely new mechanics that add something crazy and unexpected.

For me, settlements are an infuriatingly near miss. They just need a little more everything to be fun but miss every mark to varying but easily moddable degrees assuming we had the right tools.

Build a little at a time, don't expand too much too quickly. The problem with the vanilla game is that it gives you everything at the start, it feels artificial as fuck. I'm playing Horizon, it slows down the leveling a lot, and adds extra perk requirements for settlements. If you build only what you need like farms and beds at the start, then it's satisfying to finally unlock traders and water purifiers and etc later on. I recommend the Creative Clutter mod to quickly decorate rooms, manually placing items is extremely tedious.

It's similar to ENB but it's more lightweight, it's basically like SweetFX if you know what that is. Mainly changes the colors of your game. You can also add sharpening to get rid of the blurry cartoony look of the vanilla game. Search reshade on the nexus, theres lots of presets. I'm using Wasteland Grit but only because I want a bleak and depressing atmosphere in my game.

Settlement building probably accounts for about 500 hours of gameplay for me. I loved settlement building. All the same, I don't think I completed a single project,and did get burnt out. Running a survival playthrough now that largely ignores settlements.

Need help for NV - I can't for the life of me figure out what causes transparent textures when I'm using an ENB (v278 binaries). Already tried:

The torso, cannon, and radome would be about intermediate level rigging to slap on as armor for a Mr Handy or Sentry torso. To rig the mesh you'll need to make sure your models are in Obj form, and possibly split them up if need be, and also you'll need 3ds Max or Outfit studio to actually rig them. There's tutorials for OS on Nexus.

The legs on the other hand wouldn't really work because there's no leg type like that for robots. Unless you want to give it armored Assaultron legs and look a bit more like Sahelanthropus.

It would take a lot of trial and error, and the end result might look a little funky. It would probably end up looking more like those things from MGS4 now that I think about it.

Yeah, it stacks as much as you want and you can get to sanic speeds. There's a mod that has boosted versions of the Legendary mods, and I had over 100% movespeed. It gets disorienting and kind of weird to play with.

Because the well-thought-out quests and NPC groups/factions in NV make the Mojave Desert alive and believable. Fallout 4 was comfy to me until I discovered most quests and locations were lazily implemented, and different enemy factions end up being reskinned Raiders. That just makes most FO4 playthroughs feel same-y.

The Combat Zone Restored mod makes you realize that Beth could have done so much more with the game, but they chose not to.

Freeside certainly isn't inhabited by anyone who has any money to their name.
Broken Hills and San Francisco are perfectly intact.
The Gun Runners have a fully intact fortress in the middle of ruins (and a radioactive moat).
New Reno is more than half intact buildings, varying based on the wealth of whoever owns it.

At least the run-down areas have communities, not just a handful of raiders or a farmer or two. Hell there's more going on in the Boneyard when it comes to civilization than most of 4, and that's after the bombs, followed by tons of earthquakes and fires. Not to mention how much better even the Necropolis is doing, even with it being the most destroyed city.

I got a texture replacer to make them NOT look like piss-stained rusty garbage. It makes them moderately more tolerable, especially Pipe revolvers. Pipe guns and bolt actions still suffer from the fact that they're built into fucking 2x4s.

You'd think with all these mods that drastically change appearances, like the Hunting Rife or that shitty Assault Rifle, the later receiver mods would refine the shape of the wood furniture to make it seem less garbage.

I was in a similar situation when I started but I lucked out and found Doc Anderson in a random encounter, I had about 600 caps on me at the time which was barely enough for her to completely fix me up. Loot everything in Concord and the surrounding area and sell to Carla and the Drumlin Diner, you will make enough caps to pay for a doctor. Actually finding a doctor might be a problem, you could try going to Diamond City down the railroad from Drumlin Diner, there's few enemies on that route and it's the safest way to DC. Or try Vault 81 on the same route.

I just encountered a really weird bug. I fast traveled to Oberland to collect some stuff, planted some food for the settlers and all of a sudden, they're attacked by a bloodworm.

A bloodworm that is immortal. Every time it's killed, it springs right back up and starts biting again. It's also, for some reason, listed as my companion and I cannot target it in VATS.

I got a mod that lets me edit damage multipliers, so I just set it to 5x for both my damage and NPC damage and it turned out pretty good. Most humans go down in ~2-3 shots, super mutants in ~4-5.

I know statistically speaking it's not likely, but these posts read like the exact same fucker every time, right down to the typing style.

Personally, I think Obsidian are protesting too loudly. I think New Orleans, or whatever, is real but just leaked right when Bethesda wanted all the hype focused on their DLC for FO4. Not only did the leak potentially make people crave Fallout who burned out on the base game, these rumors keep the interest.

But beyond that, these new rumors are landing at around about the right time. They are PREPPING for PoE2, but that's not to say NV2 (for lack of a better title) hasn't been in development for a while anyway. I also don't believe a fucking word I'm told, as frankly lying is a perfectly valid tactic when you want to keep something under wraps.

It might be nothing. We may not get another Fallout until Bethesda get around to it again, when I'm in my mid-thirties. I really doubt it through. Fact is, New Vegas upstaged them and I'm sure it was all very tense and shit, but Bethesda made bank for nothing more than loaning out the license and assets. They basically got delivered wheelbarrows of money for doing fuck all. I'm not able to be convinced that isn't a fucking tempting prospect for them.

Especially since TES is their baby, not Fallout. Fallout is just the moneymaker they bought to expand. You just have to look at the effort expended in Skyrim and FO4. The former is just far more lovingly crafted, with more passion and genuine attention given.

I love settlement building, I would share pics buy I'm lazy. I went from level 55 to 109 JUST building settlements. I make sure each settlement has a little market area for traders coming through and everyone has at least thier own room to sleep in.
Santuary has a closed in playground,a greenhouse, a hospital, a garage for power armor repairs, a college of sorts for my minute men in training, a gun shop, two restaurants, a library, a museum on minutemen stuff, my playerhome which is built onto an arena complete with stadium style seats and a betting booth. My player home has a nice balcony for watching the fights. Anyone I have shown my settlement to is either like "wow, that's so cool this must've took forver" or "wow, you should kill yourself"

Egret tours is my second biggest and is basically boot camp, where minute men come to finish training and get thier first standard issue weapons. It has thier bunks, a vertibird garage, with a vertibird inside, a mess hall, a communications building where we broadcast all important Commonwealth news as well as recuit newbies. It also has a building called "Warhound wares" where minutemen get thier partner dog and assorted armor for thier pooch.
There is also a small hut in the very back where I made it look like grunts go there to drink and sneak in a few chems. It's a Porta potty Shack filled with glass bottles and jet.

I play on ps4 and have a mod that turns all the pack Brahmin into doggos, so my game is full of doggos. I don't have wifi, or even cable tv,so I wasn't even aware I could use mods until last week. So 90%of my settlements are vanilla builds. I'm proud.

NVR3 requires FCO's files. The unfixed files. FCO works fine on its own with the fixes, but it's not everyone's taste. The base game, everyone is pale as shit, washed, corpses all look like ragdolls taking a nap, ect. Joana in Gommorah is supposed to be pretty much used up... and she has darkened eyesockets. The 'cut up hooker' is totally clean in a room covered in blood. The Legion is no better; all the slaves look perfectly healthy except a gimp walk, and those fucking stupid oversized backpacks. Even the Pitt did mistreated slaves better.

FR3 is edgy as fuck. But so is Fallout, or at least it's supposed to be. Just look at FO4/Boston for what a PG-13 wasteland looks like. In the originals, all the violence and drug use was there, but there were hookers, sexual abuse, references to child abuse, and the player could do shit from slaving, to sleeping with a slaver, car thief, and super mutant.

You can make the argument that the shit in the Fort is stupid, but I actually felt the crying woman in the tent next to the chilling Legionaire set the tone for how my female Couriers should feel there. I would just have moved the cages to Cottonwood instead. The allusions to rape in the base game, such as the woman on the counter in Nipton, being made more gross is smart. (Hell, even Obsi know their audience, as there is a mine placed exactly where someone wanting to upskirt her would need to go.)

It's not like it's all edgy sexual stuff either. Headshot wounds for executed people. Dirty people dirty. Animated tears for certain NPCs. Custom looks, like the burns on the Madam in Westside. There are lots of nice little additions.

I have to disable the mod to enter the Fort anyway. I'm one of the unlucky ones that get the eternal loading screen with it. I also use a NVEdit'd version that plays nice with Redesigned 2, and removes all the FCO-faces.

I'm playing an NCR goodie two shoes, got BoS, Boomers and Great Khans to help at dam but haven't started the battle yet, doing other quests atm. Bit odd I lost a little support from NCR by getting BoS to lend a hand, I know they have had a bitter past but getting that kind of fire power support and potentially absorbing BoS (like Desert Rangers) and phasing out their more dogmatic views seems like a good opportunity.
Overall even though the game can feel a little rough at the edges it's clear, abundantly so that there was a ton of passion poured into the construction of the world.

Tell that to the raging popularity of Game of Thrones. It's just a case of games being more strictly (morality) policed. I mean, TV we get stuff like Rome, the Borgias, and GoT. Comics we get stuff like The Boys, The Pro, pretty much anything Millar writes or has written. Games? It's always guts and gore, and if they don't mind an M rating, some tits and ass with maybe a Mass Effect sex scene.

Oddly, Bethesda even seem to be taking a step away from more adult content, too. FO4 feels positively sterile. Outside Cait's backstory and Magnolia, it feels like in in a CW tv show. Even the chem'd up raiders have learned modesty and shed their degeneracy.

Holy shit, why wasn't the original game like this!? Words cannot describe the fucking joy I felt when I gained the ability to set up turrets (even though they've been reasonably de-armored) and a fucking generator in my shit-shack.

Can you even imagine how you would feel to unlock turrets if you hadn't already known about them and had them taken away?

"What do you mean I get to build a motherfucking machine gun emplacement? Wait, it's a fucking robot!? It finds and eliminated targets automatically!? Fuck yes!"

Instead it all just gets dumped into your lap at the start. At worst, shit is locked behind a perk tier or a power requirement. Honestly, they should have made it so that weapon/armor mods and settlement objects you don't meet the requirements to craft don't even show up on the list.

Let the player look forward to unlocking cool new shit to build, instead of providing the complete list from the word go.

How do people pull this off? I've got fairly high strength, haven't invested in strong back yet (trying to get basic accuracy perks and crafting skill first) but even with a mid-sized backpack I'm only just making a cw of 100, and 40 of that is taken by all the food, water, and the 3 weapons I carry (hunting rifle, pipe revolver and machete), as well as their associated ammo.

I'm happy with my looks, but I'd like to be able to survive two gunshots one day

I'm finishing up a re-playthrough of New Vegas and going NCR instead of glorious Independence this time, and so far I'm enjoying getting to wear my favorite armor the Veteran Ranger Armor. Fuck the "disguise" mechanic though, I just want to wear cool clothing.

Point of posting: anyone know though experience or otherwise if wearing faction armor in the final battle will have any averse effects? I made NCR truce with Khans and BoS, so both are helping at the dam (on top of other factions who aren't innately violent to NCR) and given wearing that armor marks your relationship as neutral even with NCR am I gonna fuck up any support from the minor factions or more importantly the NCR? I just want to rock the Ranger gear during the showdown.

FO4 leaves its best shit laying out just as much as Morrowind. The only difference is that, unlike Morrowind, they give it all to you immediately anyways. The rest is all procedurally generated loot picked from a table.

I had the same problem with Borderlands: When everything you pick up is "Randomly Generated" from a grab bag of the same old shit, nothing is unique, and the odd dozen genuinely unique items being tied to a leveling list ruins the concept completely.

It destroys the immersion to know that it makes no real difference if you go and grab this special weapon at level 15 or level 50. You can succeed either way, the only difference is that the former yields a reward that will become useless that much quicker.

They originally intended for Dogmeat to not count as a companion in F4, so you could have Dogmeat and a nother compaion with you. Theres even text in the games files that say this, and the perks that still work while Dogmeats with you.

Theres mods that fix it so you can take dogmeat with you and have another companion, if you want that.

But just traveling around with Dogmeat is better than having the other companions.

With people snapping at the bit for a new game RIGHT NAOW, and producers shilling as hard as they can with pre-order bonuses and season passes, there just isn't enough time an money to go around to make a modern game with that level of care put into the minutia.

It's the kind of thing I keep looking to the indie crowd hoping to see, but mostly they just play the same tropes in the same formats hoping to ape the success of more genuine works.

I'd really like to see the Indie crowd hit a PS1/2 level of graphical quality. Low poly models with higher-res textures or cell shading a la ZoE2 could have every bit the charm of modern graphics, if a group of enterprising folks could get together with the kind of passion and vision that the people who made Morrowind had.

It's sad to think that the same minds who created such rich settings ultimately had the passion ground out of them in the Mobile Game mines.

Honestly the best way to Look at X-01 (and I admit it's still pretty stupid) is that it's a pre war prototype that'd eventually give way to APA being the full realization of it down the line when the enclave mobilized. Despite that loading screen in the game that they then contradicted with this. (I know Fallout shelter is well fully non canon, but I remember reading somewhere that it said the X-01 Mk.I was used to protect the PoTUS while IV was post war)

I agree though it's fucking stupid on the whole. They should of made only one set, and have it be a quest reward for finding some Enclave logs explaining them doing something in the Commonwealth, some detatchment that was there from Adams, awhile before FO3 took place even.

IMO Maxson should get some Hellfire or APA Mk.II if anything, left overs from the war. (that said it'd leave people wanting it) Personally don't mind the T-60 being pre war, that said I'd be fine with it being post war too, since it could be assumed that there's power armor manufacturing tooling at Adam's AFB, and it obviously wasn't on the crawler. (Pre launch I wanted the T-60 to be Basically retooled Hellfire, since it's about the right bulk, and them making it look old world works to fit their aesthetic)

Also I think that's why they cut the Insitute power armor, they just couldn't justify why they'd want any, their army is more or less disposable since they can make more, and their Courser's don't really need it, apparently from how they hype them up.

I personally enjoy the look of the T-60 over the other three options in the game. Never liked T-51, and the APA/X-01 feels almost too bulky, or maybe it's something else that bothers me. Hard to justify its existence pre-war without a retcon (even then, hard to justify it being spread around like it is), but it being post-war is much easier to explain.

The Institute not having their own Power Armor would be fine if Bethesda didn't give them the Institute-colored X-01. It's either they have none or they have their own, Bethesda can't have it both ways.

Well, point remains when people get the idea to mod they usually sit around going "but what TO mod?" for a few hours and get little done.

If there was a list of "quest X has a stupid Y that should be Z instead" or "In location X there is no Y even though there should be Z" then people could easily fix a lot of the dumb stuff really quickly. Honestly the one I want to see the most, is the fact that T-51, and X-01 (well who knows since it's not!APA) and probably T-60 shouldn't need power cells. Of course it'd be unbalanced, but they could do something in vein of the powered power armor mod for NV and 3 where the reactor powered ones couldn't take as many mods without some rare reactor upgrade or a downgrade to cells, since they could BS some upgrades take too much power that you'd risk a melt down.

I think the insitute X-01 paint was a 'Well shit we gave the other factions PA paint" thing so they threw it in, I always took it as it being an upgrade the PC just made up just because. I mean you never see the minutemen (without mods) using T-45 but it has paint for it, and same goes with the Railroad who you'd never see using PA really since they're supposed to be sneaky fucks.

As for justifying X-01 pre war, IDK I don't find it that hard, I just don't consider it APA, but what would become APA my self, only why I justify the fact it exists inside of Nuka World. (And if we take the President thing from Shelter, makes sense they'd have some suits to use as a basis for a next generation power armor...why they waited so long, who knows)

Honestly the X-01 thing bothers me less than the Fusion Core thing. To a degree the PA frame bugs me more than it as well. (on the other hand it was kind of neat from a gameplay angle at least-I'll admit PA is the one thing that aside from the inconsistencies stood out in the game to me)

I don't have one (don't pay much attention to the FO4 modding scene since I'm an idiot and have it on the PS4, played my self) but I remember someone trying to clean up inconsistencies in shit like the vault with pre war Jet, the ghoul kid, etc, Mostly minor shit nothing major gameplay wise.

Also remember reading about some big mod, with armor and shit adding in proper APA as a thing you could find (IDK if it was a unique item, replaced X-01 outright, or was added to leveled lists as a tier up from X-01.

Granted I saw this months ago in the general, but I think that armor mod at least is on bethesda.net. (I think don't quote me, and not really a lore mod but still)

Well I mean I can spitball some ideas, and general thoughts on things (granted some of the ideas are going to spitball alt takes on some things). It's one of those things like another anon said, there's so many people head cannoning it different ways you'll need to make some executive decisions on what you want and don't want your self. Some of it would be simple like vault 95 tweaks, some of it would be gameplay intensive with how power armor works, as well as (again personal choice) how often it spawns. (Personally while I get why there's allot, I think it's silly so much of it is just sitting...in the open...by roads...) and where it does this.

The east coast BoS are effectively the Enclave now anyway. Maxson himself resembles early alpha sketches of Colonel Autumn, and he has the exact same ideology (purify all muties). They even control the US Capitol, Raven Rock (and the satellite arrays adjacent), and Adams AFB.

I am also SEVERELY disappointed that Bethesda didn't try and retcon all the east coast Enclave as synths, it's stupid but it's so stupid that it works

So.....I am playing Nuka World DLC for the first time, I am at the point where I had a meeting with all 3 chief of the clans (I plan to be a raider) and now I have to conquer all the park's zones and assign those to the clans.
But I have a WTF question:
Is this dlc supposed to make me go SOLO conquering the zones? Not even a small group of raiders follow me?
So I am the "big boss" of what? Of myself?

Gage is using you. If you pass a speech check Mason will actually admit that Gage is the real Overboss. Nisha threatens to kill you twice and treats you like an errand boy. The raiders want you dead but don't kill you only because their leaders think they can use you to take over the Commonwealth.

Why is this that much of a deal? There are plenty of mods to make fusion cores last forever, not to mention you don't HAVE to use the power armor. It's not even upgraded and falls to pieces easily unless you upgrade it.

At least at the start of the game fusion cores are one of the few things keeping power armor from being completely overpowered.

Of course I know nothing of balance, so I don't know what balance mods are any good and which ones aren't actually balanced, but the game needs one.

Is there anything worthwhile going on for FO4?
Are there any mods which want to fix some of the horrible dialogue/quests? (Aka saying yes in 3 different ways and very little branching in the quests.)

Honestly, a quick look at nexus shows me mostly the same old mods and seemingly no one works on anything.

Other related stuff: considering that my "background" (hobby and uni. stuff) is in programming and electronics, I thought about making some kind of (script) extender for FO4. I would very much like better settlement building, robots and PA or cooler loot and enemy spawn. However this wouldn't fix the horrible quests. I also heard only shit about the FO4 engine. Shitty ways to handle big objects, stupid shit going on with rendering interiors, etc. Fixing the engine would be a tremendous effort in itself + the extender. It would be extremely time consuming and I would have to get really good at reverse engineering. So we're talking years. Idk about how much F4SE will matter. Do they even care about it?

Imho, to overall fix the game one would need voice actors (or silent npcs), quest makers, some modelers, texturers, a team to hack the engine, etc. to do it. Essentially we/they would have to rebuild half of the entire fuckin' game in a lore-friendly way.
Any thoughts about this? Thinking about like this makes me realize that FO4 is a stillborn.

A few of my friends are thinking about that, making a smallish indie game, but that's separate stuff. Unity or a small in-house engine (primarily for 2D) would suffice. Unreal seems like a big clusterfuck for indies.

I was trying to convey my thoughts about FO4 though. I feel like FO4 was dead before it was born and this feeling just got stronger as time passed.
In their past games (FO + TES) they got the quests more or less right and everything else was shitty; the engine alongside a lot of script and other bugs. Now they reversed the situation. They fucked up shit which are a lot more harder for modders to fix, because they depend on every other resource like quests depend on models, textures, voice, etc.

My extender is honestly just a quick idea I thought about when I saw the horrible building stuff. All I wanted originally is to ask whether there is any progress in FO4 modding, but I wandered off in my post.

Settlement building clusterfuck, I use Workshop Rearranged with some other stuff, but honestly the interface needs fixing. Maybe shrink the icons and turn it into a grid.

Going forward the only thing that can be done about dialogue choice and quest branching is to make new quests. Everything is tied too tightly together... or stuck together with chewing gum, maybe.

Maybe take a look at that new Combat Zone Restored mod. Might be a good example of what sort of shit needs to happen to fix stuff. No idea how much of it being a buggy mess was bad scripting on Bethesda's part, or the game not having functions that would allow easier scripting of it.

Maxwell's World is a good quest mod with actual branching. Though I have yet to actually start it. Probably going to do that today.

Also I don't think there's any fixing the engine unless you want to rebuild the entire game from the ground up.

It turned out it was because they couldn't see each other perfectly. The doors weren't lined up with the arena team platforms, it was a tiny bit off. Had to remove all of the arena obstacles as well, apparently they can't shoot through the big, open windows on one of the concrete wall pieces. I just gave up with it all because fuck how shit Bethesda are at this stuff.

Is there a mod that has turned all the settlement locations in to little villages/towns yet? Doesn't seem too complicated, but I'm not a modder so I don't know if it's possible to just disable the player's ability to build in those locations. Maybe keep Sanctuary as a place they can build in, and have small player owned homes in each location that was previously a settlement in case they wanted a home there. Quests that require you to clear the settlement of enemies could just be a case of 'we got kicked out by ghouls/raiders/etc', then you go in, kill them, and the settlers go back there.
It's particularly annoying because most of the settlements set up a particular town structure, or are too restrictive to allow much else without tanking my fps. So in-game, if I create an actual town, I end up avoiding it because I don't want to play a slideshow.
