Wasn't the point of lilliana to be an anti-establishment group against the league? I think Old King's point was to destroy the cradles until the League disbanded and let all LYNX and corporations operate independently without collusion. I don't think he expected all the other Lynx to turn on him but instead expected them to overthrow the league too.

We speculated in an earlier thread about what would have happened if he had succeeded early on (before the closed plan) and I think that's where his ideas were going, burn the cradles, get the league to disband, then all lynx rise up as independent gods and local warlords over their territory.

I find it interesting that /acg/ has Old King and /dsg/ has Pontiff Sulyvahn, both of which are awful monsters that you're not supposed to sympathize with.
>>
>>167164893
Let's look at it like this, then.
I haven't been to any of the Discords, so this is all second-hand information.
To my understanding, there was a Discord that was run by our dear friends at Legacy. I hear it was a wheelbarrow of dicks and the mods were all fags, so someone set up a different Discord that's much more hands-off. That's the one Urist hangs around. Those are the only two I know about, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more.
So, I'm assuming the ACL Discord is the one that imploded?
>>
>>167165646
>both of which are awful monsters that you're not supposed to sympathize with.

I think is more a case "evil is cool" rather than true sympathy, the only real sympathy I give to OldKing, is that he really considers the player as a friend if you choose to side with him.
>>
>>167165646

Oldking did it for kicks, the only win he could possibly achieve was a team up with White Glint, but LA wouldn't accept genocide, its possible White Glint could've done some sort of black ops tho.

The only success for mankind if Oldking is some sort of good guy is by being an LA extremist, removing the cradles would make fixing the problems of earth a lot easier and needed.
>>
>>167165716
I have no idea if there was an ACL discord or not.

The one that imploded had about 100 people and I think it was started by SouthQ on AC reddit. Then they decided they didn't want to mod anymore, so they handed it over to someone else who ran rampant and shitposted for a few days and then closed it down.

This new one is made by Sash.

Who is "part of ACL" other than Cheng? It seems like everyone (including FromCheng) is on multiple platforms now and even he posts more on Reddit than ACL.

No kidding? Well, RIP Legacy, I guess.
How hilarious is the concept that some bag of dicks threads on 4chan outlasted the site that was billed itself as the prime community hub?
>>
>>167192305
Doesn't really have anything to do with 'community' or the members. Forums have been dying for 5+ years now because they're just really inefficient compared to Reddit, Discord, etc.

4chan survives because it's got a huge user base, doesn't require logging in, and is the only anonymous platform. If 4chan required logging in with a user name, it would be long dead for discussions too.

Been thinking of Buying Silent Line, and Verdict Day, I'm on the Fence about V since I hear the Online is dead and the story mode is kinda short. I really love the AC designs in V and Verdict Day though, I hope the Head Piece seen in the ACV trailer is in Verdict Day, I'm a sucker for aesthetics and shit. Also if possible can anyone post the recommendation list? I Purchased AC2 recently and it plays fine but the disc is scratche to hell and the audio Glitches are too painful to continue playing. Also This may be me being causal Scum but I don't like that I lose money whenever I fail a mission putting me in debt so quickly.

It's hard until you understand how the three defenses system works.

Project Nimbus, if you like AC4. Otherwise, not really.
>>
>>167226019
There's no real reason to get V anymore except to play some of the story missions (it was designed for online only and the servers are down.)

Verdict Day (not V) uses the same game engine, same parts, same mechanics, but is dramatically better in all ways.

I would recommend emulating AC2 if your disc is scratched. The framerate is low in a lot of missions (nothing can be done about that) but it would at least have no glitches. also if you go too far into debt in AC2, you actually unlock special power ups each time.

>>167228501
It's very punishing and requires a lot of understanding of the stats and reaction time to do well. The hard mode is also extremely difficult (but very fun). It also goes from "beginner" to "expert" VERY fast. The first half of the game is dramatically easier than the second half.

It sounds to me like AC3 or Silent Line is the best one for you to play first. They are a bit less punishing and while you can lose money by failing a mission, it's not a lot and there are plenty of arena / missions that are easy to grind funds with.

That is odd thanks for the recommendation i will probably pick up both Silent Line and Verdict Day the only AC games i have played. Is 2 And For Answer. I would have. Thought that VD would be easier.
>>
>>167230004
Can you explain it to me? Should I play V first before VD?
>>
>>167248859
>Can you explain it to me?
There are three damage types in V/VD. Kinetic (KE), Chemical (CE), and Thermal (TE). Each weapon deals one of these damage types, and each AC part adds defense for one of these damage types. If you deal more damage than an enemy's defense, they lose a ton of AP, and if you deal less damage, they barely lose any AP. So basically, you want to have a varied loadout so that you can switch to weapons that exploit an enemy's weakness. There's even a scanning feature that lets you check the enemy's defense thresholds during combat. Things get a little more complicated when it comes to building your own mech, since lighter parts have better KE defense, heavies get more TE, and midweights get more CE, so certain defense types force you into certain playstyles unless you can mix and match your parts well and that's where the more complex builds start to come in, with you attempting to beat certain defense thresholds to negate certain weapon types entirely, or intentionally giving yourself a blatant weakness to fully guard against everything else. It gets more complicated with PVP, since you can overspecialize even harder and have team members take on specific targets that they're the most optimized against.

It's not actually as complicated as it sounds, it's just a step up from the usual meta in an AC game. It's also exactly the same in V and VD (with the exception that VD has physical shields you can hold to further increase defense), so if you master one you'll master both.
>>
>>167248758
4 answer is the easiest game in the franchise.

2 is hard because of really uneven difficulty and lots of low framerate sections.

>>167248859
>Should I play V first before VD?
No. VD is better in all ways and doesn't require playing V first.

>Can you explain it to me?

KE weapons
>Moderate DPS (when effective)
>Most easily blocked (make ineffective)
>Highest Accuracy
>Highest Muzzle Velocity
>Moderate Lock Time
>Highest maximum range
>Worst decay rate (damage decreases with range)
>Highest Ammo counts
>Leg types: Lightweight and Midweight Bipeds, Lightweight reverse Joints
>Leg benefits: Highest turning and mobility

CE Weapons
>Highest DPS (when effective)
>Most difficult to block (make ineffective)
>Lowest Accuracy
>Lowest Muzzle Velocity
>Worst Lock Time
>Moderate maximum range
>Best decay rate (damage decreases with range)
>Moderate Ammo counts
>Leg types: Heavy Reverse Joints, Quads
>Leg benefits: Highest jumping/aerial and stability. Worst turning.

TE Weapons
>Lowest DPS (when effective)
>Moderately easy to block (make ineffective)
>Moderate Accuracy
>Moderate Muzzle Velocity
>Best Lock Time
>Worst maximum range
>Modreate decay rate (damage decreases with range)
>Worst Ammo counts
>Leg types: Tanks, Heavy Bipeds.
>Leg Benefits: Highest overall AP and Defense, worst mobility, worst stability.

There are exceptions to this in each part class, but this is the general trend that most of the weapons follow. It's not quite a "rock paper scissors" system because you can counter strategies and weapon types without changing your defenses (example: there are almost no long range CE weapons, so if you play exclusively long range you don't usually need CE defense to counter a CE weapon type). Also because everyone can build up at least 2 defenses but equip all 3 damage types, it's hard to end up in a situation where you don't have an effective weapon, unless you are focusing around only a single weapon type.

All in all its quite well balanced.
>>
>>167252382
I see that doesn't sound too super complex.

It's really simple in the single player, but in multiplayer, the damage drop from range is much more relevant and makes things more complicated. Not to mention, people build their defenses around certain breakpoints that may cover the weapons you want to bring.

The difficulty is both how hard the missions are + how early they are (difficulty spikes).

By the time you reach the only hard missions in FA (aka, beating 98% of the rest of the game) they're not that bad. Plus FA gives you way more cheese tools than prior games (Kojima cannons, AA, Reg. 1.15, Spread bazookas)

I've been replaying AC3 portable, and is it just me or did they make the game a lot harder?

Even on the best radiator I'm finding myself overheating against most arena opponents, and the AI is SUPER aggressive. I was only able to beat the top 10 arena using a WS lock and a high DPS machine gun (aka, cheese tactic).

I also notice it's got many more graphical issues compared to ACLRP and the menus are a lot worse. I think it's pretty obvious that the budget for the portable games went to LR:P first.

Does anyone here want to try their hand at designing mechs?

I'm making my own game and need lots of parts.

Pic related is one of my most recent designs. The legs were inspired from a gundam and I went from there. I'm especially bad at designing heads (as you can see, it is lacking one) so if you have some good references for those, throw them my way.

If you just want to post reference pictures, that's fine. I'm going for more of an Armored Core aesthetic as opposed to Gundam.

Yeah, I was including that in my surprise too. But it is interesting how much cooling in 3 is based on frame, not radiator. I think it's over 50/50 unlike 25/75 like LR. It could be that I'm still early enough into the game that I haven't unlocked frame parts with decent cooling. The cooling extensions are also a lot worse than I remember them.

>Oh, here's a thought, the last time you played 3 before picking up Portable, how much did you play with OP-I?

V's single player isn't bad, it's very unique though. The main missions are 10-15 minutes long each with resupplies and a lot of collectibles and large maps. It also has one of the best characters in the franchise (Chief). You might be better off watching gameplay videos to get the story, it's not worth buying just for the ~2-3 hours of main story content I think.

VD's single player is better, but more traditional. The missions are like AC2:AA (a lot of optional side missions with no story impact) with 10 shorter story missions. Unlike V though it has hardcore mode, which is basically 8 different new game hard modes where you have a limited number of allowed failures/deaths and you and the enemy's stats are different depending on which mode you choose. It also lets you program your own AI to fight against and alongside you for missions, which can be fairly expansive and take a while to fully upgrade. In terms of total single player content, VD is probably one of the longest games to 100%. It's got the length of AC2:AA but if you include hard mode and the UNACs it's closer to Nexus or AC3 (longest AC games for single player). You can play for a few months and probably not 100% it unless you constantly try very hard at it.
>>
>>167363183
>VD's multiplayer is dominated by cancer.

Depends on who you play with. If you want to be super tryhard and play online JP conquest teams final destination fox only, then yeah it's pretty bad because there's a few builds that are really good, but require years of practice, so if you're a new player you will never catch up. The JP meta is locked in and everyone uses the same builds that they've practiced with for 3 years now.

But if you play it other AC fans on the INT server and try not to pretend you're some AC piloting wizard god, it's really fun.

Basically, the more you see people changing up their builds, the more fun ACVD becomes. It's kumorabis, Sawa quads, Kickbots, and sniper cannon / laser cannon tanks that turn the game into a monotonous 'git gud' grind. Avoid those and you're fine.

The final boss of VD is literally you piloting a Normal against a NEXT, complete with it using PA and Assault Armor against you. It's pretty hype.

There aren't too many other memorable boss fights from V/VD though. The duel against Chief's AC in V is pretty good, but that's more of a straight up AC battle than a real boss fight excluding the part where he picks up a huge pillar and comes at you with an infinite use mass blade.

The PS2 games are honestly (on average) better than the PS3 games, but they are older and clunkier and more difficult to get into. The atmosphere, gameplay, style, and balance of the older games is generally superior, but they are more prone to bugs and flaws and difficulty spikes.

I would recommend playing Murakumo: Renegade Mech Pursuit for Xbox if you want something that feels like FA. If you want to play the older AC games though, AC Nexus is probably the best starting point. AC3, Silent Line, or AC2 are all good starting points too, but they are much clunkier and don't have dual analog support (so you would have to remap buttons in PCSX2 to get your second stick).

My recommended play order if you want to enjoy the games the most:
AC3 -> Silent Line -> AC2 -> AC2:AA -> Nexus -> Last Raven -> Anything Else
Why? AC3 has the best atmosphere and single player with the fewest bugs and lowest difficulty. It's the best 'newbie' game. Silent line is the sequel, and Nexus / Last Raven are too difficult to play early and should be saved for last when you understand the games more.

My recommended play order, if you are worried about the older games being too clunky:
Nexus -> Last Raven -> AC3 -> Silent Line -> AC2 -> AC2:AA -> Anything Else
Why? Nexus and Last Raven have dual analog sticks so you can use a similar control scheme as ACFA, making them the easiest to get used to. The other games don't. They are very very difficult though so once you get used to them the other games will seem much easier by comparison.

>>167373870
V and VD boss fights are both pretty good. I think V has better "GIANT MECHA" bosses, but VD has better boss fights against other ACs.
>>
>>167371152
ZoE 2 is very good. It's not like AC though. It plays more like a hack-and-slash and there's no customization options. Great game, just different. AC is like the gran turismo of mech games, and ZoE is like wipeout.

>>167373870
V has several great bosses. Heck, every story mission ends with a boss, which can be anything from an AC to an AC that's cheating to something huge.
VD's final boss is good, but it's lacking in other bosses. Some of the larger autonomous weapons could count as bosses, I guess, but they're not very exciting.
>>167363524

So is V worth it In your Opinion, I'm gonna play V and Verdict Day mostly for the Single player
>>
>>167380923
I liked it, but there's a major caveat that we haven't mentioned.
So first you do 10 story missions and they're pretty cool.
Then comes the order missions. Technically, you can start these whenever, but they're set a couple years after the last story mission. There's, like, 83 of these missions and a lot of them are boring garbage. Like,
>okay, go shoot these ten tanks that are not the slightest bit threatening
After a while you start getting AC fights, most of which aren't really noteworthy, but there are some groups here and there like the three monkeys or the bees. They're pretty fun.
Anyway, once you get way deep in the order missions, you start fighting the Zodiacs, who have an interesting little subplot. The grind to get to that point is pretty disheartening, though.

>>
>>167384745
Verdict Day does something similar to the order missions, but it's more bearable because you don't have to beat them all in order. You unlock a handful every time you clear a story mission. So in that respect, yeah, VD does a better job with its single players. And like others have said, hardcore mode is totally sweet.
I'd still suggest at least trying to get through V as long as you don't spend more than 10 or 15 dollars on it. The story missions and the Zodiac subplot are really worth it.
>>
>>167385216
VD's order missions are also a lot harder and have different objectives from time to time, rather than the same "kill 10 MTs" stuff from V.
>>
>>167376273

I have to agree. I don't really go back to AC4 or ACV anymore. But I find myself always enjoying the classic AC games. I think they're all good in their own special way, but the Ps2 series is just more good.

>>167380824
Murakumo was an Xbox game made by From Software (AC's dev company) and AC4 was a 'spiritual successor' to it. ACV was a 'spiritual successor' to Chromehounds.

>>167384745
I would recommend getting Verdict day and then after you play it, if you REALLY liked it (enough to tolerate more problems), get V. But if you get V first it's more likely you'll be disappointed early than if you get VD first.
>>
>>167401086
That's basically ZoE. You have 8 sub weapons and even a main weapon that can be charged up like Mega Man. The gameplay is totally different though.

For similar gameplay, look at metal wolf chaos. You have a ton of guns you can swap between on the fly, each with their own lockboxes.

Neither game has extensive customization though, not even close to AC, and both are very limited in the simultaneous things you can do at once. AC lets you have up to 4-5 different weapons going on at once (extensions, orbits, main, left, EO) whereas both ZoE and MWC have only 1 or 2 attacks you can do at a time.
>>
>>167403319

Well, I never played any of these, but a AC game where you could square off aginst bosses and unlock weapons like megaman would be neat.

Hell, even weapons would be fine, like Metal Wolf, but being able to use a bigger payload.
>>
>>167403532
There's already 200+ weapons and you unlock them by completing missions, so that's not really that different from what's already in place. Even ACV/VD has the ultimate weapons, which are unlocked by beating bosses.

There's no dark souls like "Boss Weapons" inspired by the boss though.
>>
>>167403924

>200+ weapons
>You can barely use half a tenth of them

Eh, I am glad you like that way, but I want my AC with more dakka, MWC looks great, but he is slow as shit
>>
>>167404009
Depends on the game. 30-40% are usually single player viable in most AC games, with 10% usually being multiplayer viable.
>>
>>167405478

Well, my gripes is that a lot of stuff tends to get ignored for "builds", so allowing the "useless gear" to be carried as extra firepower so you wouldn't need to rely on blades would be somewhat cool.

But thats just me.
>>
>>167406042
That really only applies to ACFA and ACV/VD I think. ACFA because so many weapons are useless, and ACVD because so many parts depend on other parts (so if you change one part, you have to change the whole 'build').

Nexus was probably the first game where that trend started, by making L-arm weapons have their own impact on the lock size so that now they had to match the R arm weapons, so if you change one part you have to change a lot more parts to make it work effectively.
>>
>>167406250

See? It would be nice to do that scene from the matrix where Neo shoots the guards, only discard his guns and draw other guns.

Having a varied loadout instead of a mission would be a interesting way to play it
