Robin gives Lucina the future she deserves and she gives him a clarity of purpose he's been lacking because of his amnesia. They're arguably the most dynamic pairing in the game given all of the factors involved (even if the game criminally underuses this), especially with Robin being the Heart of Grima.

They're also both just straightforward and genuinely nice people; you can tell that a love between them would be very real and very strong.

What if instead of permanently dying, people who are killed in the field would take a huge EXP hit (like 10 levels lost, or maybe unpromote or something) and lose all those stats they gained? Or maybe it would lower all their stat caps and base stats and maybe even growth rates or something? And when you get them back their conversation and battle sprites would be all fucked up because they were gravely wounded, so they would have bandages or fresh scars all over them and stuff like that that is permanent for the rest of the game. If they die again then they die forever.

I think that would be a lot more interesting system and get people more attached to their characters. Also think it would be harder than permadeath since people will be less encouraged to reset and they will end up with a weaker unit and loss of xp.

It's either have them die permanently, or bench them for the rest of the game because they are gimped or so weak that grinding them up is even more of a chore and that's if you can endlessly grind, either way, people are gonna reset or carry on without them.
The only thing interesting out of this would be the changes to the character's sprite and conversations, though this would only work outside of classic mode.

I like how Gungnir handled perma-death. When HP were depleted units were incapacitated and would return later but with a penalty to vitality (max hp). If a unit took a significant amount of damage from the final blow (like multiple hundreds of HP more than needed, overkill basically) then they would just die on the spot.
