Gaiden magic has two categories Black (offensive) and white (utility) magic, so I don't think they'll explicitly clarify anything as light magic. (or anima, or dark) if they're being super faithful. Gaiden does have spells like Aura and excalibur, but they're alllll in the black magic category.

Assuming I found the proper script for FE12, then the conversation between Marth and Jagen before the final battle is identical in Japanese save for substituting "Earth Dragon" in the original for "Dragon" and other minor stuff in the remake.

Comparing the translations of FE3 and 12 (based on my limited knowledge of Japanese), the FE3 one seems to be more direct than the remake's one. For instance, in both versions in Japanese, when Jagen implies that killing the clerics might be necessary:

Looking at the rest of the script for this scene, the FE12 version sounds more natural like a localized game. The FE3 one looks closer to the original Japanese, but I don't think it reads as well. I think they're both fine.

tl;dr - JP versions are the same in FE3 and FE12, the FE3 translation is more literal, the FE12 one is more dressed up. They're both fine.

None of these characters appear in a way you really need to know who they are, but Camus being on Valentia explains some of his motivations in FE3.

According to Dolphin's website, it's one of the few games on perfect emulation state, at least with 5.0. I haven't gotten into much, but it's running at 60fps on my modest i3-6100 processor and everything looks fine. I think it should run fine with lower end processors, unless you have a Core 2 Duo.
