Like, I hated Monarch/Kozmo/CripplePendulums/BA format at the time, but looking back at it all of the decks had a huge amount of interplay and back-and-forths. It wasn't just SetUpAndWin.dek, you had to play around and through quick effects, survive and outgrind the opponent, as well as taking the chance to snipe away resources whenever releveant.

The current format and the future ones feel way too much like "Go first go +8 off of Ttop set 3 strike 1 d barrier reveal Maxx "C" or Ttop+double twintwister or gg". Or just Toad cancer where you rush to make an unbreakable board (Or shit like ties specters)

It just feels like games are decided instantly nowadays.

What should I even do? Just play Nurse Burn until the format fixes itself?

If you play Duel Links, you don't need B-Beat because your opponents will be playing real old school beatdown decks.

So am I getting this wrong or are gems extremely limited? Every source of gem rewards is finite, they're all stage missions with one-time reward, and level-up rewards for characters. Max stage is 50, max character level is 30, and lifetime missions are seemingly finite too (unless the duel x times ones go forever, but dueling 1000 times for 50 gems doesn't sound reasonable to me).

Say you get to stage 50, level 30 on all characters, by this point you bought every available box fully probably, you are a god and you can get to KoG rank for quite a few seasons. And then, a new box comes out, maybe with an archetype that completely centralizes the meta (like it happened in the TCG a million times for years), and... you don't have any gems to buy them, suddenly new players are getting these power creeped netdeck monster decks by playing 3 days for free, and you can barely get to gold with your old and busted shit.

What then?

See that would be the obvious answer, that this game is just the longest free demo in existance and that eventually you'll have to spend money to keep competing. But what doesn't add up is that even real money packs cost gems, and it's not insignificant; I believe 30 packs require 300 gems or something along those lines, that's a lot of gems for when you literally have no source left for them except 1-3 gem rewards on the random clickables on the lobby and extremely rare 10 gem NPC duel rewards.

I still don't get what their endgame is. Right now people are basking in free gems and loving the game, but what will happen a few months down the line when everyone is level 50 with most characters at level 30 and new power creeped boxes keep getting released?
