The way to exit the palace is usually by coming back to the place where you entered in the first place. Akihiko and Shinji were raised in an orphanage, until it burned down killing their imouto-figure. Before that happened they seemed pretty happy, Akihiko even says that Shinji only became his gloomy and angry self after Miki or whatever her name was died.

I was trying to say that not everyone in that game was an orphan, and among the ones who are, Akihiko and Shinji were the only ones who ended up in an actual orphanage. Furthermore, if you look into it you'll find that Akihiko and Shinji's experiences are not reflective of reality because the majority of Japanese people raised in orphanages do not come out happy and healthy. I can't comment on Kou's experience because I can't remember how long it was before he got adopted out but I do want to point out that he spends his s.link working through issues of self-worth and doubting his adoptive parents' love, which isn't a great sign. Late response, but Ryuji didn't get ejected by Shidou's palace collapsing OR being blown out of its perimeter (Shidou's palace, from what we know, spans at minimum the entire country, so that's impossible).

What happened is that the explosion launched Ryuji past the spot the PT entered at (the front of the ship, corresponding to the area in front of the National Diet Building), which is how you leave a palace (the trick to prevent Joker's assassination relies on the same thing to get both Goro and Sae back out of the palace without them noticing what happened). That's why he ends up on the lawn not that far from where they originally entered.

Dunno about her specifically, but I've seen some of the more invested Shidou/Goro shippers get really fixated on Shadow Shidou's line about Goro's resemblance to his mother combined with Shidou's cognitive Goro's "You wanted to be recognized, right?
