The empty boxes were the planes I'd already bought every SP weapon for. Between the SU-27 and X-29 for example there was an empty square that I couldn't select, it was the F-15C.

Considering Nagase, I have an idea about her. I don't know how it works in real life, but in movies, some astronauts are recruited from the air force. And considering how Nagase is crazy obsessed with the Arkbird, I think it's safe to say that she's planning on joining Oseas space agency and become an astronaut. She joined the Air Defense Force so she could use it as a stepping stone towards her dream job. Consider that nobody was expecting a war to break out so suddenly, against an ally no less, and it kinda makes sense why she is so pacifistic even though she's in the airforce.

Also, even though she hates war and complains about it she still carries out her orders along the rest of Wardog. I really don't think she's that bad of a character, nagging aside.

Thoughts?

With all that in mind, could it be possible that Nagase is the person jumping from Lighthouse in the first AC7-trailer?

"progresses the story or interacts with the setting" are not foundations of good characters. Ideally, you want a character whose ideas and therefore actions shape the course of the plot. This differs in the key way that narrative necessity doesn't drive the character's actions; the character does. It makes the experience more immersive for the audience, because instead of them being able to go "the plot demands X, therefore this character will do Y," and instead forces them to think "this character's motivations and internal complexity mean they are likely to do Y, resulting in X happening in the story."

Thus, your audience intuits your story as character-driven, like real life, instead of driven by the needs of the plot, which can lead to a lack of immersion.
