If the enemy is fed, don't get hung up on how he got there or who fed him, just play around it as best you can. If your teammate does something retarded, just let it go and focus on the state of the game right now. Also, listen to the Smooth Jazz station on Pandora.

His base damages weren't the problem, it was the fact his passive gives a gigantic speed buff AND slowed on top of the cc/chasing ability the rest of his kit gave. Although his base damages help him kill people, the main issue was the he was literally inescapable aside from ridiculous shit like kassadin.
As for whether or not he was viable, he was complete cancer.

In the mid year mage update they change his passive to no longer slow enemies. Ever since he hasnt been played as a tank in just about any form because he's now just inferior to the other tanks because people can actually run away from now. Plus it's a tad hard for him to proc colossus so popp/naut/maokai/everyone else do his job better. He's still complete cancer ap though.
