Don't do this. Stick to things that use rifle mods until you have all the core rifle mods max. Trying to max them and shotgun mods at the same time is counter productive. There are a lot more things that use rifle mods as well, which makes sticking to rifles better for your MR too.

But shotguns are so powerful that they don't need a primed damage mod to be useful. Less money and endo into a Point Blank and a Hek is more effective in the long term than most rifles with a maxed Serration. For a new player they stand to lose little by switching to shotguns early on and taking them all the way to sorties, then going back and reviewing their rifle selection.

Despite my gripes with how DE handles aspects of it I don't feel it's time wasted, I've gotten plenty of enjoyment. I also use Warframe to unwind from a long day of work, listen to/discover new music, or just simply zone out with. I play plenty of other games as well, but keep coming back to this because I can turn my brain off, there's always something to do and I like the core gameplay and art style.

I feel like you just made your own point moot. How do you think he's going to afford ranking up serration past rank 5 in the first place? Generally you're better off early on getting those r10 mods to r6 at most since the cost gets so out of hand and ranking up something else since there are other, much cheaper alternatives.

This is why shotguns are so good at that stage. Their mods are so common people can barely give them away, and the cost to rank them up is totally affordable to someone who doesn't have the access to higher level nodes like arena and hieracon.

Granted shotguns do not leave you open to as many other choices of weapons, which is particularly bad when you're still gated by MR for a lot of things, but you still have 3 (4 with companions) other slots that you can fill with unranked garbage to level up as you play and still destroy everything you come across with a shotgun that you barely spent anything on and will continue to be usable for the entire time you're playing the game.

Two forma are enough to almost max out a Hek. Just need to not max out that Hell's Chamber for other mods to fit. Helps that I bought the electric status mod from Baro though, not so easy for players who miss it.

Sorry, I meant to max out its mod slots to a sortie viable level. All basic mods on my Hek except for HC is maxed and all slots are filled, so its "maxed". In theory taking a straight 11 elemental in place of my status 7 would be better but I can't be arsed to forma it again and it helps a bit with armor anyway.

What am I not understanding about the Vay Hayek fight? I shoot him in the face when his face is exposed and all that, but most of the time, it just doesn't show up that he's taking damage. When I do it with someone else, he's basically hitting them once and that knocks him into the next phase.

In other news, has anyone found if the Accelerant Augment properly self-applies? I don't seem to be getting added damage on my weapons in simulacrum, and I thought for a bit it added fire to her abilities that deal fire damage but I'm drawing a blank. The buff shows up in the active buffs bar next to health though.
