So two questions:
For those with the DQ* CIA already, do you have the region emulation enabled to allow you to make a save file onto your SD card? A few people had issues with this, trying to figure out the source.

Otherwise, for CIA's, you need double the space of said CIA to install it, right? The first chunk to hold the CIA, the second to INSTALL the CIA, correct?

You don't need region emulation to play games, that feature is for using DLCs of region that doesn't match region of your console.

For example say you have EU 3DS and want to play US SMT4. You can do that just fine, but you won't be able to use US SMT4 DLCs unless you set up region emulation for it since the region of the DLCs (US) doesn't match region of your console (EU).

Hey guys so I just bought a mario kart 2ds earlier today and looking to install cfw, a few questions

1) How hard is it to do? I skimmed 3ds.guide a bit and it doesn't look too bad, a lot of steps but not hard to follow
2) About how long does it take? I have about 2 hours free time right now, I assume it's enough but if its a whole day kinda thing I would like to know

3) Probably most important, can you put the sd card in an android phone to transfer files? I don't have a dedicated way to connect sd card to computer other than my phone. I assume this works but I want to make sure before I start.

I can confirm it's working fine on my EU 3DS.

It seems it's just a case of region lock, you will need to set up region emulation if you've got CFW.

I will try to make a region free ROM next time when I'll be updating it with the uncensored costumes.

Ok i did some fiddling around. On a NA N3ds with region patching turned off, DQ8 will say that an error occurred with the SD card. With it on it will say something about making Extdata and then it will say "A problem occured with the SD card". So is it crazy that maybe the problem lies within the Extdata? Like is it probable that Squenix made it to where they Extdata checks the region of the cart/download to the 3ds's region and if they don't match then it just refuses to let the Extdata get made?

To you and all other anons who were wondering, I just was able to start DQ8 and it created the extdata just fine. I'm on a N3DSXL USA. I just used the Luma emulation settings. I was also able to start a new game just fine.

I'd say to double check the text file you made for the region emulation just to be sure.

Hey guys, I originally did the hack with a 4GB SD card. The allocation size was 64kb.

I got a new microSD card that is 32GB. In guiformat, the minimum allocation size was 512kb. It's a Samsung EVO.

I copied my files from the old SD card to the new microSD card.

When I booted up, the power LED stayed blue. However, I never made it to the 3DS splash screen.

I've tried googling for some information, but I can't find anything relevant to my current situation.
