Considering Nintendo wants to make a profit off the console, and the fact Joycons themselves cost around 80, I think it's safe to say they're not making 150 per sale. It's probably more like 50-ish.

There was some rumor before the reveal the switch would cost 250, from some company in the UK or something. That's probably what Nintendo is charging the stores for the console, and the MSRP is then 300. I'm not an expert, but they're probably making Switches at around 200 dollars.

2. Hardware is impressive. Literally a small slab that might be more powerful than a Wii U (in some respects)
3. Launch software is never super impressive, but Super Mario Odyssey looks better than every game released this gen
4.Third parties hate Nintendo and continually try to sabotage them
5. Maybe. They could have pushed the launch to fall but I dunno, I'm getting Zelda on Wii U
6. Online is good and it works and is rarely, if ever, down. Wii U doesn't use friend codes and games do support voice chat/lobbies/messaging etc IF the developer of the game implements it (this requires third parties to try, which is something they hate to do) Black Ops 2 and Ghosts are examples of online play that works just like the competition.

The Switch launch sucks donkey dick, but let's not act as if there's been a genuinely good console/handheld launch done by any company since the fucking Gamecube.

As far as a first year goes, Zelda, Mario, Arms, Spla2oon, and a couple souped up ports is a decent start to a lineup. Still waiting for 3rd party devs to actually show if they're working on anything or not, but by the holiday season it's going to be hard to bitch about the lineup, unlike the Wii U which sucked from start to finish.

I'll wait to see what Nintendo does with online. Be honest, how many of you fell for the big, open world = good game meme? You just know that 70% or more of Breath of the Wild's world will be empty. Skyrim was way bigger than it needed to be, and it's still less than a quarter of the size of Breath of the Wild's map.

The thing is that people have been let down by Open World because it's always empty repetitive shit. BotW looks like there's variety to the empty repetitive shit.

Take for instance Gayrimjob For Fags Scrolls V. The game is basically the same shit over and over. All the enemies are the same and all the situation are the same because Bethesda is shit and their last good game was Morrowind. Once you hit a certain level in Skyrim you not longer start seeing those lower level enemies because of scaling, so you're basically playing segments where only certain groups of enemies will spawn.

Add the to the fact that there really isn't anything interesting to do in the game because of the terrible engine and all the stiff animations.

BotW looks fluid as fuck and more like a video game. You can do kurayzee stuff because Nintendo knows how to make fun games unlike Bethesda.

Plus Oblivion and Skyrim had fast travel that basically skips a bunch of wasted play time. Every dungeon in these two games was exactly the same with the same loot depending on your level.

BotW is more like Zelda 1 where there will be variety to what you see.

You will need to have the app and phone present and ready to go during any online play as all of the server and matchmaking handling are handled via the App, not the console.
