Also, all that extra blood in halo 1 could test the FPS quite a bit at times.

Halo 3 was already running at sub HD textures, so having be any jumpier would look pretty ugly, especially with the reduced FOV.

Art-style wise, it is definitely too colorful though. I like that Reach scaled that back a bit (although I wish it didnt have to look so grainy)

Let me be clear, I really appreciate many of the improvemwnts made by 3 on the camoaign front, namely a lack of asset reuse and a multitude of vehicles besides just the hog/ghost/shee.
But the viceral recession in blood/gore can not be understated. 3 simoly has a much more vibrant and colorful tone to it and the lack of blood detracts feom Halo's roots of being a more "mature" shooter.

Its not really a big deal, its all cosmetic. But it cant be understated.

The blood in CE was used not only for deaths but also as a marker, when you saw human blood on the ground you knew a health pack was near so it acted as like a lure for the player, whereas pre-placed covenant blood either reassured you that help was nearby or, later in the game, subverted that by implying the Flood was present, and Flood blood trickling down from the ceiling told you you were in for a sp00ky scare

Nothing, Halo was never gritty, Halo was always bright vibrant and colorful with the only exceptions being ODST and Reach which do to desaturated color palette and film grain filter looked washed out. Halo 2 vista/classic also have this problem because the game is missing the Xbox's lighting and graphic system. Halo was always looked like a cartoon since the first game I'm glad 343 brought Halo's vibrant look back with Halo 4 and 5 but I hope they bring the blood back as well.

Look at this, in all honesty this entire story and plot is significantly more interesting, unique, entertaining then Halo 5. It makes sense, it has character growth and depth. The characters in this show has more depth to them then any characters in halo 5, even chief, halsey and arbiatrt who already have backstory. The fighting scenes are more well directed, the protagonists are more interesting. This is what halo story should be like. How does a main series game have a significantly worse story then a side story, how in gods world does it?!! also Thorn over lock any fucking day. Especially knowing how halsey hinted him being more of a spartan than the other spartan IV's

It's got the high female choir dissonance, which is a theme more used for the Flood, mixes it in with the A+ best theme of all time of the rising low brass Covenant theme, and adds in an ancient human kind of vibe too with the percussion then blends it all together to appropriate the setting at the time. The piece uses instrumentation and previously established melodic identity to convey more thematic relevance than every post-reach soundtrack ever did - and it was in floodgate.

The fact that a D77 can haul a MBT and a fifteen-man squad armed with high-caliber weaponry (the UNSC's standard-issue side-arms are chambered in fucking 14.5mm!) and deploy it anywhere in the city in under five minutes is telling enough as to how fast the UNSC can fuck up the advance. Dragons get eaten by Pelicans with their 40mm/70mm autocannons, or by AV-14s or UH-144s... let alone the angry F-41s and GA-TL1s that might be sortied against the attack at some point later on.

Expeditionary forces continue the rape train. Warthogs can run off of water with no decrease in effectiveness. Setting up a prefab city might be slightly more difficult than the UNSC's used to, by virtue of not being able to send the whole thing down in one piece, but expect a Station (using the term from Halo Wars) to get constructed within a week on the other side.

Pelicans deploy satellites in the space above the planet, which proceed to map it out far, far ahead of any scouting forces. ONI descends on the data, brewing up a bunch of heartstoppingly powerful caffinated beverages and locking themselves in their various rooms for a few days until they've compiled a list of fucking everything that the UNSC needs to know about the planet. By now there's a factory set up, Pelicans, Hornets, Falcons, and Scorpions are being mass constructed to pad out the expeditionary forces, and there's probably Halberd destroyer and Stalwart light frigate hull parts and modules being sent through the gate to get assembled on the other side.

The second a Halberd comes online, Gate world is pretty much confirmed to be under UNSC control, even if it hasn't quite happened yet.

This video is a size comparison chart of loads of ships from loads of different science fiction series. It has a few errors, but is generally fairly accurate. It starts out small, but towards the end things rapidly accelerate and the last 5 things are basically all Halo.
What's funny is that people in the comments are actually complaining about how big stuff in Halo actually is, with even just a regular Halo ring dwarfing the two Death Stars, Unicron, and basically everything else, and even the Halo ring itself being dwarfed by the Ark (which even makes Earth look miniscule by comparison.)
What's even more mind-boggling is that the Ark is nowhere near the largest Forerunner structure ever built, with the capital Maethrillian, the Greater Ark, Requiem, and the Onyx Shield World in particular being much larger.

Allow me to retort.
Fathom is a perpetual king of the hill for the top spot. The switch to having camo up there wasnt nearly enoigh to balance it as you have nearly 360 degree control and sight of the map.

Riptide at least has an asymetrical feel.
