Currently nymphs can only join as colonists, so they were really just hauling that silver not stealing it.

As far as nymph troublemakers go, I'm toying with the idea of having them show up as wanderers to eat the player's food and do the player's drugs (and of course fuck the player's colonists). It's a quirk in how Heat Ventilation/bleeding works in the game.

Doors bleed heat when closed at a slow rate, but if there's a wall behind it, they won't bleed any at all. Same with how venting works when they're open. It's why airlocks work so well, because the little area between each 2 doors counts as a separate room, and heating works on a room to room basis, not tiles. This trick doesn't work with vents though, they do things differently for some reason.

During the start of my run I actually couldn't survive. I rushed passive cooling asap and had to huddle indoors with coolers. My entire base was cooled by about 50 or so coolers in total. if you're doing an arctic run, just simply make a vent to the outside, instead of using a cooler. Cheapest way to keep shit cool. Or have the cooler set to something stupid like -200 which it will never reach but keep running so it'll keep warming up your kitchen.

Extreme desert is a different kettle of fish. You have to be really, really careful of how you build your freezer if you double wall it. Don't build your base around that. Another quirk of how temps work is walls within walls will normalize the temps to the outside, because that's what they think is the outside. It's really fucking weird way Room's work.
In the picture, the middle room is classed as Outside by the surrounding Room because it has double walls, so it's inside temperature is -59, despite the outside room being on fire at 3000F

Ok, make sure you have the stonecutting slab, good work on the other stuff. uninstall your capsule reactor, you don't need power yet and it will come in handy later when you get access to electric workbenches but don't have good generators yet.

next thing you need to do is cut some wood planks and use the ship parts to build a good research bench, not the primitive one, and put someone on it as a full time job. Also build a component assembly rig before you run out of the stuff you need to make the component assembly rig, it doesn't need power to run. first tech you should research is the one that lets you build a horseshoe pin for joy.

don't do your own hunting, just look around the map when you aren't planning or managing and tag some corpses that apex predators have killed. tiger drops a muffalo or ibex, he eats 10%, you bring home 90% and eat jerky for days.

for planting, you need seeds, and the tech that unlocks the planting of that crop. if you want to plant rice, you have to go deeper into cereals, the first tier only unlocks wheat iirc. don't let herbivores eat your crops, they won't spit your seeds back out for you. also don't plant all your seeds of a type at once, one cold snap killed all my healroot and 3 years in no traders have offered me healroot seeds.

what you research next is up to what you think you need most, your basic needs should be covered now. getting the means to produce steel is a good place to start because that ship steel is gonna be gone fast.

You could say that he is building a foundation for the game first and may revisit some aspects later and expand on them. But we can't really know for sure.

I just hope he doesn't follow some other devs/games and end up adding a lot of different mechanics and/or systems but they all end up shallow and boring and are just there to create some illusion of content (Warframe is a great example of this, if anyone played it). Or that he just adds unecessary stuff, like sanitation for example.

I have faith tho, the game actually came a long way since I started playing.

I've been wondering about the scope of the game lately. Since you have access to the whole planet, biomes and climatic zones maybe other planets in the future? there should also be a way to deal with them and their dangers.

Adding more stuff on top of stuff to the game to give players more ways of interacting with certain maps isn't a bad idea but it should be locked behind reasearch. This way you won't be getting ice cube machine in arctic regions or trees cultivation in jungle.

Psychic ship round 2, went a lot smoother than the first mechanoids to invade our colony. We had EMP shotgunners and high powered rifles with armor piercing rounds this time. A series of lucky shots managed to pierce the third and fourth body rings of the mammoth and cause an explosion in its primary power core, which further damaged the armor of the nearby mechs. Braga went down behind cover and was nearly consumed by spreading plasma burns, but enough mechs had been taken out by that point that he could be pulled out safely in the heat of battle. The mechanoids will send scouting parties as long as we keep their terraforming device operational, but as long as we have numbers and ambush they can't take us.

I'm playing with CR but it doesn't seem like the starter turrets' range has been affected by it, not sure about the better turrets tho. I'd rather not have a chokepoint than having to fix/replace my power generators every time I'm raided.

Also that hydroponics setup is pretty efficient, as you can see in pic related, it fits comfortably in an 11x11 room and can hold up to 4 more basins inside the radius unless you'd rather not have colonists climb over them.

Spaceship start, where you're woken up from cryo by the alarms but don't get onto escape pods and instead have to make due with the spaceship section. There is a mod in the forums, "Persistant worlds" that supposedly lets you keep old colonies when forming new ones. I don't have it, but you might be able to put one colony in cryptosleep for some years before waking them up with another colony.

The tribal start has neolithic humans, which is pretty much just the first step up from cavemen and the beginning of humans as we know them, when we first started farming, domesticating animals, and making permanent residences instead of constantly moving around, and using semi-permanent stone tools. They should be hardened to certain things like "ate without a table", "slept on the ground", "ate raw food", "awful bedroom", etc. and not get debuffs from them. However, seeing dead bodies, leaving bodies unburied, should give them negative thoughts as usual. Having prisoners, selling prisoners, killing prisoners should give zero debuffs whatsoever. The concept of "we took them prisoner so we should treat them nicely" is a convenience of civilization. Tribes frequently imprisoned and enslaved each other.

Starting a new save, with 300 map size.

How big of a cheater am I with these? I think the biggest helper here is expanded prosthetics but it's hard to live without the ability to install bionic spins.

I've never tried Vegetable Garden but I hear it adds a lot of variety. I fear it will add too much though, because it makes cooking into a crazy overly complicated thing.

Rimfridge is only something I use in distant dining rooms. Not really replacing giant fridges. They are too expensive for that.

Darkness makes the game harder.

Forest Density makes forests harder and fires deadlier.

RT Fuse makes the game easier for sure, but requires a lot of components.

More floors is just QoL.

I only use wooden fences to make animals avoid dirty areas but I might disable this mod since chain link fences act just like walls in terms of enemy pathing and allows you to shoot through.

Never used Dubs Bad Hygiene. I know an anon made a similar mod but his is a bit more complicated. It also adds in waste disposal which is a new challenge.

I have hopes for Fafnir but haven't tried it. SK is pretty good but I haven't tried a16 because they're still working some stuff out.

SK plays a lot more to the colony side of things than worrying about what each little pawn is doing, they're more like the dwarves in DF and you need a lot of them to get a proper industry running smoothly. If you don't like autistically managing menus, bills, zones, priorities and things to get day to day life automated, you're gonna have a tedious time micromanaging all the pawns you will need. But if you do have a handle on all that stuff or are willing to figure it out, it's an awesome mod pack.

I played a lot of hcSK in A14. Like actual shitload it expands a lot in every goddamn direction which is nice but anon is right. Production chains are pretty damn insane. Making elements to create parts to craft components to make shit is pain. You can go around this by buying them but they are usually super expensive... which is kinda fair I guess.

It's a nice idea, but all it really adds is a thing that you'll entirely ignore. You install it, you play, you forget to set up toilets instantly, your colonists get a massive mood penalty from shitting themselves and then go insane. Then you learn, set it up properly, and ignore it forever, other than that it wastes an inordinate amount of time making your pawns run back and forth to the bathroom, shower, and sink, and that it just adds extra tedium with no real benefit. This fucking forest mod is insane. The trees grow back at such a crazy rate that most of the time I'm cutting trees all the time. There's also an insane amount of animals - but you'd think that's a good thing but it's terrible.

It prompts more "maddened" effects because they are always in a giant pack.

Also this mod seems to add a fuck ton of tiny marsh spots so making roads is a pain but you have to, because these fucking trees block your pawns so much.

I went through whole Dagon. Sacrafices go like this
1 - buncha basic resources - wood, steel and components.
2 - riches - chest full of jade, gold and silver just as anon said
3 - dropping somewhere a fucking titanic full of insane sailors with all kinds of weapons. Once happened inside of my walls. It's basically combination of first + second spell but there's chance of getting double chest and deconstructing the ship gives you a lot more resources.
4 - is the end game. Basically a black screen with text.


3rd spell is kinda silly though. Sailors would've been insanely dangerous since it's like 10-20 of them all with automatic weapons. They are also aggroing from pretty far away and charge like madmans BUT they actually are madmans. They are high on the insanity and if you leave them there for a day or two they just end up shooting each other to the point where you barely have to fight anyone to get to the goodies

I did full Cthulhu once. Its second to last sacrifice is really good, makes all enemy mobs go crazy. So you just hold onto a prisoner or two and gut them when you get invaded, then watch them beat the shit out of each other. Most times you get another prisoner or two from it so you can just keep doing it. I had a smaller tribe that survived on that and the guns of my insane enemies for a while until I got a little too ballsy and tried to pod an altar and a prisoner and the prisoner ran off.
