I downloaded a Double Enemies mod and increased my squad size, but I didn't notice any more enemies so I went back to default squad size.

Starting a new campaign soon. Pretty much steamrolled my previous modded Veteran campaign, should I bite the bullet and jump straight to Legend? I'm using Long War classes and aliens, they are pretty fun. I was thinking of getting additional dark events but I'm kinda scared I get fucked over too hard.

Having played some Xenonauts and having experimented with different squad compositions, I have to wonder: are assaults/shotguns useless? After removing them from my squad I've realized that I function much more effectively. Earlier I has 2 assaults functioning as vanguard troops, the guys who would breach an area and soften it up before my other guys went in. I found that this function is borderline useless and needlessly puts men at risk.

My current squad composition is as follows:
>1x Scout (Pistol, shield, stun baton)
>1x Sniper (Sniper rifle, duh)
>1x Heavy Weapons (Heavy machinegun)
>5x Riflemen (Rifles)
My current strategy is extremel simple: I send the scout ahead to survey the area, not having to worry (too much) about his survivability because his shield helps him a lot. When he spots an enemy I usually fire at them with my riflemen, my sniper picks off key targets from a distance and under the cover of the rest of the squad my Heavy Weapons guy can get into position and suppress and/or annihilate enemies. Is this a good squad composition? I somehow feel like I'm puting too much emphasis on riflemen and not enough on 'special' (non-rifleman) units.

So, in short:

There's a bug, might be mod related.

So you've selected your standard shot and now you're choosing who to fuck up. You decide to change to rapid fire/chain shot/whatever, the updated hit chance doesn't show, it's still showing the hit chance for a standard shot.

Basically, don't change what shot you're going to use while choosing your target because it won't update your displayed hit chance.

In EU, I would just ignore male recruits and only train females. In X2, I do recruit only females.

Bradford, Tygan and sciencists/engineer crew are the only males here, but I would gladly replace Tygan with some girl or force rest of my crew to be females as well. Except for Bradford, he is so badass that I would not dare to replace him.

I had shotguns for flank guard, since they supposedly react fast. Shield scouts forward, firepower is behind him, a guy with shotgun sits near any doors or approaches that haven't been explored yet. But that job can also kinda be done by a shield pistol guy, so yeah.

One thing I kinda started doing is carrying more weapons than soldiers. The sniper guy will usually carry a rifle to become a very accurate rifleman, the shotgun guy will carry a pistol so he can pick up a spare shield from the chinook and scout if there's no flank to guard. I also liked running two heavies because MGs are amazing.

I also appreciate we'll finally have a better visual consistency between weapon tiers. Magnetic > Beam looked so weird it'd almost like we didn't research it but stole advanced prototypes directly from an ADVENT facility. Hope they do the same with armor.

Great, another hore than improvement. Also a reason for everyone to never install any additional parts on enything else than highest tier, unless you happen to grab that continent bonus for making them reusable (inb4 they will remove that too).

I seriously hope they will balance that with slower Avatar Project growth or at least tie it only to facilities to balance it out. Then it would make sense for war to take virtual years rather than months. And with more frequent facilities pooping, it would also mean more fights and more agressive players approach.

This can be good only if, and that is a big IF, they balance the strategy layer and missions enemy HP around that fact.

I like that approach because the simple fact that you suddenly can manufacture weapons in your rag tag team of scientists and a autistic engineer.

If a soldier dies with a coil weapon early on, you will want to carry his ass out of the mission now, like the trailers implied you would care.

Also i hope that evacuating in a mission is possible without losing the god damn entire region.

I strongly suggest getting Mission Penalty Rebalance, anon, stops that shit, means you can also skip missions you just don't want to do which is great for VIP missions late game when you just don't need a 10th Engineer, it also makes dark events complete in the usual time instead of instantly activating if you fail a gorilla op. it does however make retaliation missions like Long War though in the sense that there's rarely a benefit, you're just mitigating how much region income you lose

Lancers in VC were your anti-tank units - resistant to explosions and (in first VC only) also carrying shields reducing damage from enemy bullets. Their weapon (and only one - they didnt carry sidearms) was VC variation of Panzerfaust, modeled after medieval lance and fired as such (with both hands). Their main limitation (save for slow movement) was limited amunition - while other classes primary weapons had unlimited ammo, lances were limited to three "tips" at max (which made certain characters like Audrey, who could restock her ammunition during combat with her potential, very valuable).

Since VC2, they lost the shield and anti-bullet defense bonus (shield was transfered to new class, purely melee Armored Tech), while still being resistant to explosions and the like.

Because most streamers dont sow their gameplay for gameplay itself or to show their skills - they stream for being e-celeb, to show off themsleves to people, to beg for money and other disgusting practices.

A lot of Dark Souls stream recordings are like "wowowow look at this guys, I died again, SO HARD AMIRITE?". And people watch this and nod, usually not knowing that guy/girl in question could easily avoid that boss strike, if he/she paid attention or do a little research before.

But no, they run on memes. And one of the memes is "ITS XCOM BABE your guys will die over and over and miss 5 shoots in row and die to that lucky snipe from across the map". Without even bothering to realize that the "lucky snipe" could be avoided with proper cover utilizing or that dodging enemy could get his own cover blown first. Or flanked.

Well thats the thing, I normally am cautious but when push comes to shove and I'm out of scouting tools somebody need to push up and I need to just keep their ass covered when they do. Especially with the fucking time limit ticking down on me.
And if they had focused on that Specialist like they would 99% of the time in that situation he would've been fine between Aid, Smoke, and Hunker Down. But that is the first time I've ever seen the AI just flat out ignore an already flanked target right in front of all of their sight-lines regardless of Defense. It was just fucking bizarre.

I agree with all of you so it's a it hard to find a compromise.

On one being entirely silent is kinda weird but becoming a "HEY GUYYZZZ" is constant fear of mine.

I was going to just have on screen text appear whenever something funny pops into my head or something. I feel like people would get bored when there's nothing happening in the video because I'm thinking.

It doesn't help that English isn't my first language. I don't have a horrifying accent but I mess up words sometimes.

My only gripe with Xcom 2 is that they removed Ethereals, which were classic enemies.

The enemy variety feels lacking because of this. In the previous games Ethereals were the end-game badass alien rulers that you fought. In Xcom 2 they're absent which leaves a big hole. You never get that feeling of "oh shit it's the leaders we're so fucked". Instead the end-game just spams you with big daddies and sectopods but in the end you know they're not rulers.

Overall, it just feels odd and empty that Ethereals aren't in it.

Do you mean Guerrilla Actions? Those are really important. The three each come with a 'Dark Event', which is a month long boost to the Aliens powers, either directly or by crippling you. You get three at a time and can cancel one by completing the mission attached. I fucking hate those retrieve something from vehicle missions with a passion.

Not only do you have to open the fucking door to the thing. The car is located miles away from your landing point and the car usually has it's rear facing the opposite direction from where you are running from which means you have to circle around the car and potentially trigger another hidden pod behind the car.
Not only that, but you are given 8 fucking turns to do it, if it's a guerilla mission which means you have to run like hell and eliminate all the enemies on the way there.
And lets not forget that the car is a ticking time bomb that might explode at any second and fail the mission because stupid enemies hide behind it or miss their shots, making them hit the car setting it on fire.

This and the Advent droids are the worst fucking thing to deal with early in my campaigns.

As for Ayys to mindcontrol: andromidons and berserkers the standard meat shield enemy. But because the final mission has no timer you can literally engage a pod, mind control somehing, kill the squad, kill the mind controlled ayy, wait out the cool down and repeat

I dont know what "arifting" means but I already used that numerous times to make codex little less annoying - it block cloning, teleporting and possible making rifts as well (I once ended a turn with alive codex under flashbang effect and she just fired her plasma weapon, despite having group of my girls nearby.

I also heard that setting somebody on fire also block abilities, but I doubt this would work on Avatars.

1. Maybe you have too many saves? The load list sometimes omits a couple saves if it's displaying more than a hundred at once.
2. Cosmetic stuff is done via texmod, which replaces textures at runtime and doesn't interfere with normal mods.

Or maybe a race towards the same objective. Maybe some arbitrary team meter. If you attack them they will of course retaliate. At the start they can be friendly or hostile. Later on this mood can change. At the end you have a choice when all the aliens are dead. Fight for the loot, 50/50 split, or give it to them. Fight ends in a fight, split is nuetral, and give is no loot but a higher mood. Maybe later they will sell you good gear at the black market on the cheap. You can maybe hire these mercs for a mission. Hell they might just show up unanounced in the middle of your next mission to help you out.

Another thing, if durring the fight you heal them and buff them, they might just give you the objective/loot out of good will.

I have an issue with my sortie screen. When I go to the globe screen to get a mission and launch it, instead of it going to the sortie screen, in front of the skybird thing, it switches to the correct ui but wrong background. I get the option to add and remove soldiers, and when I edit them, for load outs and cosmetics, it goes to the right screen with the soldier in front in the armory room. When I back out back into the mission select screen.

If you're talking about the blacksite facility, you should definitely wait until the AVATAR project progress has maxed out and the ensuing game over countdown is just about to expire.

Always keep one or more facilities or story progress objectives (you'll know exactly which things do that later) within reach so you can "game" the timer a little. Each time it will reset to 1 week before game over regardless of how little time is left.

Should i do the final mission now?

I just got the base defense mission (fucking UFO) and i been thinking of just saying fuck it and finish it off already and uninstall everything in preparation for Long War 2.

I am playing L/I, have a good squad, plasma weapons, still in predator armor/plated armor with a bunch of EXO and Spider suits laying around and 18 days away from Warden armor and 14 days away from 2 PSI operatives who dont have any useful power yet.

I just have PTSD from thinking of that god damn last room where there are portals and enemies pouring out of them and when i tried to make a choke point this is what happen in Commander/ Ironman.

Should i wait for the warden armor? I just dont want to keep doing those fucking gorilla missions anymore.

By making it an ingame thing, maybe even delaying it when it happens "holy shit he is going to kill himself (next turn)" so you could get someone close enough to them or use brain magic to save them adds another tactical layer.
You already take a risk by using a Shaken soldier but know its a double risk as you could very well lose them.

Latelly i have been looking into downloading the latest iteration of our beloved series called XCOM2, as well as it's wide variety of Downloadable Content. I am saddened to inform you that this search has been all for naught, for all i have found are pesky viruses or not complete packages.

Just make a mod folder in you X2 folder and drop them in. They should show up. At least that is how I install some of those cosmetic lover's lab mods.
