Control shaman isn't actually a bad deck anymore. It's not tier 1 like aggro or mid, but it's a solid laddering choice against the common aggressive decks. I prefer the non-jade N'Zoth version running ancestral spirit and earth elemental, it just feels so good

Yeah, but you look at the other classes like mage and druid that use damage spells for removal and damage and they have at least one useful aoe (unleash is way too conditional). They could at least synergize in a way to make spell hunter viable, or print a misdirection secret or some other indirect health deterent so they can play a card over 6 mana ever. Either way they will remain in the dumpster until next expansion

Think about the power creep in Hearthstone. Then imagine the new spell and monster cards every single set are tribal, and only work with other new cards so you have to buy all of them. Then imagine that every set change they ban out the most important card to the old decks that still stood a chance against the new archetype. That's basically competitive yu-gi-oh.

Playing with friends with older decks of your preference is fun as anything though, and you can always make them for cheap because they release "structure decks" of an archetype when it's no longer relevant containing all the key cards outside of tradionally OP spells/traps and combo minions.

Aggro Shaman has been a threat ever since the introduction of Trogg and Golem.

At worst it was a Tier 2 deck, which still makes it a considerable force in ranked play. As it stands, you either construct your deck to compete with Shaman or you accept the match up as significantly unfavored and move on.

Either way, it has always shaped the meta and will continue to do so until the next rotation.

Edwin is the best choice since he's always an automatic inclusion in Rogue decks.

Malygos you can play with Druid and Rogue, but that archetype is kind of dead right now. Might revive next set though.

Alex is the most niche craft since she's only really vital to one deck, but Freeze Mage is hard-countered by Control Warrior which right now is seeing barely any play so if you wanted to play Freeze Mage now would be the best time to do it. The downside is that Control Warrior also might come back next set.

I'm not even gonna complain. But what I want to know, is what do the development do with all their money? They put out 132 new cards, only 40 of which see any play, of those 40, only half are actually in new top decks and not just meme shit. Of those 20, only like 10 are reasonably designed and not just retarded 1 drops or blatantly op/power creeped. So when it comes down to it, you have 10 fucking cards that actually make an impact in the constructed game. 10 fucking cards. It's fucking stupid, they have people working 8 hours a fucking day making 6 figures to put out 10 reasonably designed cards that are fun to play and impact the game. Fucking retarded. Put someone competent and creative in charge and you could get 10 good and reasonable cards a week from 1 fucking innovative guy.
