Is it just me or is the AI in 2 just stupid? The grunts just sit where they landed out in the open pretty much begging to be squished, while in 1 I distinctly remember them scrambling for interiors and holding up in buildings, even pulling out Archer rockets against Titans, their models in 2 even have rocket packs but they don't have a chance against Titans.

Should TF3 go back to one main weapon, one sidearm, and one anti-titan weapon, or should it follow TF2's loadout, but allow you to choose which weapon combination. Like Primary and AT, or AT and Sidearm, or Primary and Sidearm

Their behavior is about the same in Attrition. A Pilot spawns in, a Grunt/Spectre squad spawns nearby with them. The squad will initially move in the direction of the nearest enemy squad/pilot and will stop once they make contact with an enemy anything.
They do still exercise use of cover and running into buildings, but these maps have far fewer of those things compared to the swiss cheese of the first game. In most places, they will be stuck out in the open when they see an enemy (which often ends up being at much greater distances because "Lanes" so you often can't even tell what they're alerted to when they call out enemy contacts).

In Bounty Hunt, they stick close to the area they drop in at, since they aren't connected to a Pilot, don't have any enemy AI to move towards and have to stay in their little objective zone.

How the fuck do you use the Devotion? I wanted to work through all the guns to at least gen 1 and I'm getting severely frustrated. Is it really just sit on a roof and kill people? The slow spin up doesn't seem to lend itself well to the typical run and gun playstyle I've picked up. On top of that the thing is weird seems to 2-shot people sometimes then others it just seems to actively avoid hitting anyone.

And before someone thinks I'm baiting I really am not I'm fuckin garbage with this gun.

four weapons

This second game deprecated the purpose of the Sidearms, both in making guns have infinite ammo and simply making the sidearms much weaker than the primaries. The infinite ammo is a good thing, fuck having to scavenge for ammo and relegating yourself to guns picked up from enemy players or stock guns from grunts who are no longer in most game modes. These maps are too big and empty to rely on finding more ammo when you don't have a Titan to restock on.

In regards to their weakness, the RE45 is like a baby version of the CAR, and the 2016 a weaker G2. There's little reason to carry a pistol over an AT weapon (except there being no Titans, or your Primary/Ordnance being good at AT) since your AR/SMG/Devotion will always be at the ready.

I loved the three weapon system in the first and would rather have more tools on hand at one time, but this two weapon design works for this game in particular, if only to slightly reduce the presence of AT weapons versus titans that no longer have regenerating shields.

I feel like the infinite primary ammo really only rewards skilled players and makes little to no impact on unskilled or average players. People who aren't consistently topping scoreboards with long kill streaks don't really live long enough to even use 3-5 magazine pools' worth, which is what most other games allocate to players by default.

Skilled players, on the other hand, can now flex the full extent of their prowess with infinite primary ammo. AT weapons having an ammo limit serves as a limiter, ensuring that a player can't simply play the whole match out as a pilot bullying titans and slaughtering other pilots.

pc is vastly different in my experience. fastbros from tfg are almost always going fast and almost always topping scoreboards. i have my mic/voice chat off, so i dont know if they coordinate through comms, but i definitely know that more often than not they can just carry themselves on individual skill and reacting to each other.

It's hitscan and has practically infinite range, so you literally point and shoot. You can hold the button to charge it for a couple seconds; it doesn't do more damage, but it lets you hold the shot so you can line it up. I really wish the Titans had a bit more personality. Adding more in-depth dialogue could at least somewhat allow you to have a better connection with your Titan. Stryder chassis titan that can drift after you boost.
Drifting leaves trails on the ground that do DoT can drift rings around titans to trap them in place while damaging them.
Power management like Ion, drifting generates charge
Tactical is a titan sized A-Wall that doesnt block bullets but temporarily boosts the speed of ally titans walking through it. Pilots get a stim like speed boost. Comsumes power each time an ally uses it, Titans consume more power than pilots.
Defensive is a mine that slows and disorients titans similar to an arc grenade

I wish they would remove pilot sentry and ticks. I use pilot sentry because it is really really good but I readily acknowledge that it's anti-fun bullshit.

Phase shift is a panic button, you can effectively reset and reposition twice in any fight, and that becomes indefinite with tactikill. It's actually REALLY busted and should not be two charges.
Holo Pilot is most basically for using before a fight to catch people's attention so you're shooting them while they're distracted. There's a lot of different ways to use it depending on how creative and aware you are.

Phase Shift, as mentioned is the ultimate Pilot panic button, and it's used strictly for self-survival. Use it for a free reload or reposition, or use it to break line of sight with an enemy. Yes, because it's so annoying if you're low on health and pop your Sword Core and manage to doom a Titan only to get executed because he managed to get one hit on you and doom you, all while you must sometimes slash two slashes to kill them in Doomed state. It's just weird that they can deny my entire core because I enter a doomed state, which isn't possible on any other cores.

Another fix that could work is that if you doom a Titan with Sword Core, they "bleed" until they explode at a pretty fast rate, so if you slash them once in their doomed state and they execute you, they'll die after the execute right away.

Northstar has to be on top of her enemies if she wants more than a fraction of her direct fire missiles to hit something.

Scorch's primary gameplan is to get up in your face to maximize setting you on fire. His Core needs direct line of sight and a mostly flat surface between him and his targets. Some of the dumbest bullshit can seem to interfere with its travel.

Legion moves slow as fuck once he turns on the Core. His gun still suffers from the damage loss over distance during Smart Core, so he still has to get close in either firing mode to maximize damage output.

The only ones who don't really need to be up close are Ion and Tone who can beam/salvo you from a very long distance away.

Meanwhile Ronin gets near-infinite dashing, instant Arc Waves and a One Hundred Sakura Blossom Cutting Water Dance Haiku Naruto Blade Attack speed boost to his sword. Enemies can not escape nor take cover from him, he can get in, get out and get back in again, all the while having the one of only two Core that can still use his other abilities, one of which being Arc Wave, the stun ability that lets him go to town while the enemy titan is barely able to move.

The trade off is that the Elite is projectile and the regular is hitscan.
Elite comes out on top if you can lead your shots consistently and can hold its own as a primary weapon, but the regular is still plenty functional as an actual sidearm.
