Tanks get attack power from a combination of STR and VIT, there's no reason why they couldn't make RDM's attack power scale solely off INT. Also it's pretty much implied that the majority of your damage will be coming from magic damage and that the melee component is primarily to build up Spellchains.

how badly does gauss barrel fuck up an MCH rotation
so far I'm on Lv44 but I'm already have issues prepping Reassembly fast enough for me to pop the buff on Clean Shot as soon as GCD comes off so I have to wait a couple of split seconds before firing. I can do it most of the time, but it's not 100% consistent and I'm concerned gauss barrel will only make this problem worse
I know Minuet fucked me up good when I got to it on BRD at first but there was too much time between GCDs anyway on BRD but MCH has a lot of oGCDs

Mystic Knights wouldn't ever leave Melee Range.

RDM is not a close quarters job, it's a spellcaster that builds up to entering melee range in short bursts while spending most of its time at a distance flinging offensive magic.

Sword buffs were actually RDM specific in IX, all that made RDM unique was that (for soloing), debuffs and Refresh. RDM in XIV will have none of that.

it may be more noticeable at lower levels but it should be fine. nobody is gonna die because your extra points are in int. you can buy an item from your grand company for 250 seals that will let you swap your stats around if you decide to, I wouldnt waste a bunch of seals swapping back and forth as you're leveling though. AST is decent and the damage buff it provides with one of its cards makes it highly, highly desirable for raiding.

You can reset your bonus stats for just 250 company seals so there's no reason not to just switch over to MND. Cleric Stance will benefit from doing it as well. Astrologian is in a really good place right now as they got significant buffs in 3.4, especially to certain cards.

Is it a waste to use a Hypercharge during Steam Roller in 10s? Our group is pretty middling in terms of dps so we usually don't kill it until right before it hits the end, but I've heard that using Hypercharge during the last 50% of Steam Roller is basically a waste and would be better if saved until the boss is no longer invuln since it means more damage done to the boss.

I felt exactly the same way with MCH once I got gauss barrel. I switched to a melee class way down the line and enjoyed the game much more. It gets really depressing when you realize that literally every single ranged class is virtually a caster. Went to NIN and haven't looked back since mudras are just wizard shit with no cast bar, just fast weaponchains.

They are lenient, especially compared to most cast times on BLM, but the fact is they are there and you either have to wait for a proc or lose an attack if you want to move which ruins the point of classes that tradtionally have high mobility. My making BRD and MCH have cast times they are effectively forcing fights that they go into to be more formulaic. Which is in some ways good and some ways bad.
