Very small, people have been cracking this stuff for years, and Steam isn't about to kick you out of their customer base because of pirating the DLC of one producer.
If you're scared I think you can launch it directly from the file manager without running steam, or else just pirate the base game too. You will need to run it through steam to get multiplayer though.

Reaper's Due for more and more dynamic difficulty and another money sink/direction for growth in the form of hospitals. Also prosperity, the new maimed traits, royal focuses. Reaper's Due is probably the "most important" one for me, although I don't know how you play.

Conclave. Some people find dealing with the council difficult but they're babies. More and more dynamic difficulty while also unlocking things like favours, and the new education system which is quite useful.

Sons of Abraham. Adds quite a bit of shit to Christian play.

Legacy of Rome if you want Retinues, which you almost definitely do.

Charlememe maybe, but not necessarily for the start date. I just find it handy to be able to create custom kingdoms, and the viceroyalty system is nice.

And then finally just get whatever DLC that unlocks something you want to play, like The Republic or Old Gods or whatever.

It is. Also instead of improving things they simply kept adding more mechanics in DLCs, all 30+ of them. EU3 had 3 expansions and that was it.
Try MEIOU after you get bored, it has some additional concepts that partially work (like dynamic core system etc).
But biggest problems with EU4 is - Ideas and sliders are gone. Now you simply pick preset ones that are assigned to a nation and unlock them with mana.

Well, /gsg/, I find myself playing this horribly implemented game. I already tried a fascist Greece run, which was going well, I joined Axis and removed kebab and retook Constantinople, Germany succeeded in Barbarossa and China capitulated to Japan.

However, Italy got naval invaded and capitulated, and then the Axis AI went full pants on head retarded and kept bashing its head against Allied controlled Alps. Oh, and the US joined, so gg.

What's in store for me this time? You decide. I don't plan on taking this too seriously.

Can someone tell me what is going on with my copy of EU4?

Most of the time, I can't afford to fully pay for 80% of my force limit, but everyone else can afford to go PAST their force limit.

Just to make sure I'm not crazy, I played as the Great/Golden Horde and got full Quantity ideas: Had a force limit of 75, couldn't pay for more than 28. This is with no forts in my country and not paying corruption down.

I then played as Muscovy for the sole purpose of watching the Great/Golden Horde: Without any Quantity ideas, and with less development, they were able to fully maintain 39 units at one point WITH 4 FORTS.

Not only that, but the AI is always building shit with money it seems to just receive from nowhere. They also tech up and go through ideas at record speeds. This is on the default difficulty, by the way.

It has been like this for me for years now, and I don't see anyone else being effected by it. I watched people play on Very Hard mode where they can afford more units than me and also have neighbors that don't go over force limit with ease.

Its definately just how you're perceiving it mate. If youve only ever played poor yet hard nations for the sake of creating something out of them then try out taking Lombardy as one of the Italian Minors. The provinces are worth so much that you can go like 10 units over force limit. Its all about the worth of your provinces. But then again, as I said hordes get extra land force limit modifier but 90% of the time cant afford it.

What should I do other then form Germany? First time doing it so Im just blobbing anywhere the HRE thing will let me. Flanders is next after France gets its War Exhaustion up. I want Scandinavia under my PU of Denmark, Holland Ill feed the Netherlands and since Savoy was a dick during the war against France by not peacing out Ill feed Italy to Milan instead. Unless Switzerland gets big. France is collapsing to England before and then the 3 wars in a row made them bankrupt. Being completely occupied for around 5 years during my war probably didnt help.

The AI is what it is and you are right about the scripts (although recently there has been work done into making new scripts for the AI). Your best bet is to play a PBEM against a human opponent. You can usually find a pretty flexible opponent for your needs from a time commitment point of view.

Not doing that, you need to play on one of the scenarios that gives the AI advantage.

Well, to be honest, a game should always lead to a victory for the Allies due to the supreme advantage they have in material and tech superiority. If they lose, it's only because whoever is playing them is brain dead.

That said, Japanese players can put up very good defenses if they do it right that make any invasion by the Allies into the inner perimeter very costly and even prohibitive. And it is certainly possible for a Japanese player to achieve autovictory on points by taking India/Australia and removing China early on.

China should fall to a good Japanese player. The others depend very much on a Allied player's style of play. It can be done, but can also be very costly for Japan. Usually, Japanese players take the northern coasts and leave it at that.

There are emergency reinforcements that get triggered for an Allied player if the Japs reach Brisbane or Delhi (geographically, not exactly at that location).
