Guys I'm thinking of rolling PVE even though I've always played PVP and am good at it on retail.

I get like 350ms ping to the server which is way higher than retail (I'm an Auscuck) and nothing I do lowers it or makes it more playable... I've tried PingZapper and other stuff like that and also addons like FastCast and nothing really works.

I only started considering this by sheer luck because I started a character on the PVP server just to fuck around. I made a caster and when I got into duels with melee they would of course dance around me in melee range so that I would get the "You are not facing your target" error and my spell wouldn't go off even if by my view of things I was facing them. So it's bad enough that I literally have to guess where players that are trying to kill me are. The thing is I like PVP and ganking and even don't mind being ganked, but it's not just a gear/level difference with this ping it's like the other players have a permanent buff against me that I can never get rid of.

So here's why I'm thinking PVE.

>I get to skip PVP which is something that I have begrudgingly accepted that I cannot win at
>I can start playing on the PVE realm immediately
>PVE timeline is behind the PVP one so I'm not too late for most of the end-game content
>Vanilla racial and class balances still exist but are less significant (e.g. if I roll Horde then I won't feel pressured to never roll UD/Orc over Troll, if I roll Alliance then I won't feel pressured to never roll a lock because of WoTF)

Even in blues it's competitive, especially if you're Hordeside for that sweet, sweet Windfury.

All you need is Edgemaster's Handguards + Orc or Human + 6% hit for bosses and you've eliminated misses and glancing blows which are the biggest detractor for Warriors until threat gen becomes an issue with gear scaling.

Farm Essences. Sell them. Essence of Fire (Ungoro Volcano) and Air (Silithus, zone wide patrolling spawn) are the most valuable.

Farm Living Essence from the slugs in EPL, healers NEED these for the cloak craft (Name escapes me, but it's BIS pre-raid for Healers).

Farm Thorium. There's a circular path on Azshara's northern peninsula with (IIRC) 11 separate potential Rich Thorium spawns. Sell Thorium as bars or ore (whichever market value is currently higher). Convert Arcane Crystals to Bars if you can, sell bars. Otherwise sell Crystals as-is.

Azshara's northern peninsula is a literal untapped goldmine of potential farming. Easy Runecloth by the hundreds (Blood Elf camp). Easy Herbs (Dreamfoil fucking EVERYWHERE) and easy Thorium/Arcanite.

Getting gold in vanilla was easy, all it took was a small amount of time invested.

Yeah, but that doesn't net you a hell of a lot of gold, and you pretty much need to respec as BM to do it efficiently, (or at least already have great gear, or bring mana pots, if you want to do half the bosses).

Princess herself is easy enough to solo, but it takes a long time to bring her down as MM spec, and a couple of fuckups will get you killed.

Goblin is really out of the way and not worth it imho. Croc is too hard for a fresh non-BM spec 60 to take down without pots.


Basically it's only worth farming if you're going to dedicate many hours on end to re-running it over and over.

Don't level as Ret. In fact, don't actually spec any further down the Retribution tree than it takes to get Seal of Command unless you have leftover points.

31/8/11 with a floater point is the best levelling spec you can possibly have.

Holy Shock, Guardian's Favor, Command + whatever extra you decide to get. Get actual Paladin gear with Strength and Int allocated (Lightforge is going to be your best Pre-raid, Soulforge if it's available).

Keep a 1h + shield on-hand for AOE farming (Consecration + Ret Aura + heal yourself as needed).

Don't be a faggot. Vanilla Paladins were built to be healers, but if you embraced the Holy Tree you could also put out semi-respectable damage while having a mana-free full heal in your pocket that isn't called Lay on Hands.

You can always use the spare week to work out what character you want to roll (faction/class/race/appearance/names) and coming up with a strat for leveling early. I'm staying on old pvp, but fresh will likely be a total clusterfuck in the best possible way.

I've tried a few tactics, and I still think that actually doing most of the quests (and corpse-camping mobs) is actually the fastest strategy overall. You're missing the point. It's not so much about needing raid-level healing ASAP. it's about levelling versatility too.

Levelling Ret gives you 2 buttons to push, 3 if you're fighting undead. Levelling Holy gives you 3 minimum, 4 vs undead. Holy Shock does decent damage for how short it's CD is and on top of that Holy has ridiculous recovery skills meaning if you overpull/get pathed into/etc you have the healing output to survive damn near anything so long as your mana bar holds out.

Plus it lets you heal in dungeons with zero issues whatsoever (You can literally flash spam the entire thing and never need to drink unless the tank is hilariously undergeared) or - if they already have a healer - you can actually do not-insignificant damage while having the offhealing capacity to prevent wipes on bad pulls.

Fury with a 2H was a Warrior's best damage build available in Vanilla by leaps and bounds. It had less +hit% requirement (DW never caps out, 2H caps at iirc 6%) and if you're Horde, those sweet sweet Windfury procs ensure you are forever doing your best to Slam and Heroic off excess rage and doing absolutely insane amounts of damage. Nope, don't even need the points. Pre-Execute phase you have no other buttons to hit besides BT or WW. If they're both on CD, 2 slams is all it takes for BT to come off.

You cycle it in or out of the rotation depending on your current rage (e.g above 60, use Slam).

If you prefer the CD reduction on Freedom/Protection, take Guardian's Favor instead of Precision but that hit% you don't have to itemize for elsewhere kind of hurts.

On the flipside if you take Guardian's Favor instead of Precision you can finish Divine Strength. DStrength actually gets you more per-point than Imp BoMight with Rank 7 (Tome) BoMight, which gives you ~220 AP.

NP, also if you plan on doing any PvP with this build, 300 Engineering is a requirement.

Iron Grenades (cheap and easy to make, go for more rare mats if you want more damage/area off the frag). Death Ray, Net-o-matic.

Targets disoriented by Grenades take double damage from Judgement of Command.

Unstoppable Force from AV is the same way, and doesn't DR with Grenades OR Hammer of Justice stun and allows another opportunity for double damage JoC.

Get a swing timer addon too.

Retribution doesn't offer anywhere near the improvements that Holy does to the base toolkit. Less mana, less mana sustainability, less healing power, less spellcrit.

Retribution is not a raid-viable spec in Vanilla. That's just the simple truth, man. Nor is it worth a damn in PvP when put up against the versatility and healing power of a Holy Paladin. DF Holy Lights are literally a mana-free full heal every time you use one unless the recipient is MS"d, and even then it's still 2k+ healed for FREE.

But just to humor you:

DW has a serious hitcap requirement before the miss rate isn't crippling. It also has -50% offhand damage until you spec to reduce it to just -25%. Bad for levelling. Gear dependency rules it out.

Protection has insane survivability but in Vanilla Revenge did almost zero damage and Shield Slam was close to none. If you have a dedicated group to just repeatedly slam out instances it's doable but solo you'll kill way too slowly.

Arms with a single 2h is the best way to level. The miss rate is only 5% and the game showers you with 2h weapons early on so getting upgrades isn't a huge factor.

Plus the Whirlwind Weapon - which you get the quest for at 30 - will easily last you from whenever you get it to approximately level 45 or higher depending on your luck. (Protip: Get a friend to help you get it at 30. you will NOT be sorry.)

Lmao. There's only one way to level which is 2handed. At 60 it's a different story and mostly has to do with how lucky you get with drops. But you're still using the same gear, only difference is your weapon.
