Thanks to whichever anonP gave the tip for beginners of bumping the icon speed way up a thread or two back. Before I could barely go 100-200 before my itchy trigger finger gave me a Nice and ruined the FC, regardless of difficulty. Bumped it up to 9 and suddenly I'm breaking 500 consistently in this marathon event.

Grooves let you play 3+1 songs for like ~2.5x the cost of a normal song, so you do have to spend more time and effort than playing songs normally. Token events also let you play the event song at 4x rate whereas you have to do it once every time with groove.

To spend 50 stam here, you need to play 4 songs. 3 regular songs + 1 event song in a token event uses up a minimum of 54 stam. (Considering Master only) So normally, it's about the same, though token has a slight advantage.
But then token events have a huge advantage with multipliers (2x for token gathering, 4x for event song) which reduce the time taken to get points greatly.
