Not really, if you see a filtered waifu image in the OP, that's me. I think I made less than 10 threads in my time here, most of that in the past 2-3 months. As bad as the combat system in TW1 was, i still LOVED the different stances and their concepts.
I wish they improved upon it instead of scrapping it.

The combat in TW2 was pretty good, a few flaws here and there.

In TW3, it's also alright with some flaws, the biggest of which is its simplicity. The game is simply too long for it to stay fresh, it becomes monotonous and tiresome after a while.

Am i alone in this?

Hey /wtcg/,
I just bought the Witcher bundle for sale on Steam, DLCs and extras included for all three games. What I want to ask is if there's anything I should know/do before playing from the first installment up to Wild Hunt. Should I read the books? Is there some mod I should install or whatnot?

Is there a good place to grind at level 14? Can I do the White Orchard Chorts?

Is there some light armor that doesn't look gay as fuck? Cat armor looks like shit until you get mastercrafted and dye it black, but I'm much too low level for that now.

I like the Temerian Armor... but I'm just a newb...

Hey so I've been playing The Witcher 3 for about 15hrs now and I really love it. Should I eventually try to play Witcher 1 and 2 after? 1 looks really RPG heavy and I like it but it's an older game so I don't know, what do you guys think? just wanted to convey everyone that i just finished the first DLC, and that other game developers should take notes from CDPR.

Also, i'd like to ask: why does this game gets compared to skyrim? I get skyrim gives you more "freedom" but The Witcher 3 has production and quality values no other games can even compete with.

Yes, Triss knew Geralt and Yen very well from before. They had a short fling in the books and she fell in love with Geralt. She tried desperately to be with him but despite liking Triss, Geralt only ever saw her as a friend.

At the end of the books he and Yen die and 5 years pass since he makes a reappearance, when is is found by his withcer friends and Triss half dead and with amnesia.

However, Geralt is the one who initiated a romance with Triss in TW1. She tried mentioning his past at the beginning of the game, but Geralt cuts her off and says he is not ready to talk about it yet. Their relationship happens not because Triss seduces him, but because he seduces her. Triss even demands Geralt to act a certain way to prove he is serious about them being together(giving her the ring, behaving a certain way around Alvin). The romance happens on his initiative and Triss' guilt lies in not insisting on bringing up his past again once he starts showing interest in her. She embraces his affection. It's a selfish thing to do for sure, but it's not like she goes a long way to create some elaborate plan for seducing Geralt, she just accepts the advances of a man she has loved for years but couldn't be with.

Let's also not forget that in TW1 Triss encourages Geralt into forming his own opinions and trying to rebuild his personality without her influence so that the memory can start returning on its own(which eventually happens). Every time Geralt makes a hard choice he can talk to Triss about it and his reasoning for making that particular choice, so you can even say she is helping him cope with the memory loss throughout the game. In B&W, while talking to Regis, Geralt even says that Triss helped him get his memory back so he clearly has a different perception on her role during his amnesia.

At the beginning of TW2 Geralt's memory start returning and he asks that Triss tells him everything, which she does. Geralt can chose to continue a romance with her.

I remember how when we were asking for more Triss content, some of my fellow Trissfriends were really hung up on the Rose thing, but I never particularly cared. I would rather see Geralt expressing love through interactions with Triss than silly mementos.

Nah, but I'm a slavshit and I understand it a bit, especially now when I have dozens of playthroughs on it between all games combined. It also gives that authentic vibe I like and I can replay through the whole trilogy with the same voice actress for Triss. Some actors are better in English though, especially Yen. But considering Triss and Geralt are my favorites and that they have most screentime if we look at all 3 games combined, I choose the voices I like for them the best.

Well, that's how I see it and it makes sense if I consider how things play out in my game, with Geralt saying Triss he loves her and deciding to live with her in Kovir.

Interpreting is as Geralt's love for Triss being dead is equally valid and can equally make sense if Geralt goes with Yen. I have no problem with that, there can be several valid interpretations depending on the player choice.

Definitely install the expansions, no reason not to. HoS expands the part of the map east of Novigrad and BaW adds a separate region you can fast travel to. You'll pick them up like regular quests on notice board and they will be highlighted with blue and red in your quest log.

HoS you can play anytime you want, it's independent from the main story and BaW should be played after you complete the main quest.

In the books, Avallac'h traps Ciri in the elven world so that their king could have a child with her so that she as a human could repay the elves for "stealing" Lara Dorren from them in the first place. I just assumed that in the game Avallac'h set aside his hatred in order to save the world, after all he's a very old elf and can control his emotions. It's not obvious if you look at it with just the game in mind, but that applies to the entire Wild Hunt, Aen Elle and White Frost situation. The last act of the game is rushed and poorly written anyway so you can come up with whatever, I just prefer to approach it with continuity in mind.
