The phrase "Achtung Panzer!", a phrase used as title to numerous board and computer games, is a phrase first popularly coined by Guderian in his book titled as such published in 1937.

This man was, for a large part, the mastermind behind the successful blitzkrieg tactics of Germany, especially in the low countries, France and Poland, then later in the opening stages of the invasion of Russia. With this in mind one can understand why this man was so opposed to having his spearhead on Moscow interrupted and his momentum killed to loop around the rear and encircle Russian front elements instead.

I find that the auto function does an adequate job at keeping the status quo, it however does a very poor job at preparing for war. This is true for pretty much all of their games though. If you play Germany in any of their games and do not manually stockpile oil, instead deciding to let the AI figure it out, you will have your tanks move lamo 1 province before your entire army is out of fuel.

That being said there is no reason to pour hours over minmaxing stockpile trading.

Guderian was sent south to assault/encircle Kiew before heading to Moscow via Orel.

I will be heading to Moscow via Borodino, which is more famously known to be the location of one of the deadliest battles during Napoleon's invasion of Russia.

Tea break was had, finally started on my first turn on the Smolensk campaign.

Take Brest with infantry divisions, then blast my tanks forwards to take one of the largest railwork hubs and push forwards south of Minsk.

Motorized elements used to secure the rearward elements of the railroads and simultaneously help with pocketing the Russian salient to the west.

I sort of mirror what I did south in the north. Open the border with infantry, pour in tanks to take important crossroads as far east as I can get, then secure the flanks with motorized.

Used elements of the 16th army to capture Kaunas to connect with the front (parts of this army were completely encircled for over 3 months during which time it was supplied by air).

Russian railroads differ from German ones, so I can't use these connections to resupply my armies immediately (or not efficiently anyway)

For those, if any, following this apologies for the slowpace, rather busy today.

I am also not entirely sure how to tackle pic related. I don't want a leaky cauldron like last time, but on the other hand I don't see a way of properly surrounding the Russians "airtight".

I have drawn in what I want to do, but I don't think there are enough units with enough movement to envelop properly, I haven't "studied" it long enough. Maybe I should have used more motorized units on the task of sealing the pocket.

I haven't quite figured out how to do that yet, nor how it mechanically works. From what I understand if I conduct an airdrop resupply in turn X, they will receive the supplies in turn X+1.
i.e. I have to make sure to start the aerial resupply on time, and not after their supplies run low. Then again I am not sure if that is right. Whatever happens I am still steaming towards Smolensk at topspeed and if it fails, so be it, trial and error.

Woke up a little while ago and just got back from the gym like the alpha strategic wargamer that I am. How fares your war today, anon? Glad to see you branching out into larger campaigns. Your posts are making me interested in WitE.

In my PBEM, my opponent is keeping his carriers up north, west of Chittagong. I suspect he is believe he has local naval superiority with little risk and as such plans to remain in the theater for a while before heading down south to re-fuel or re-arm. No air attacks this turn from his carrier aircraft, but LBA is sweeping over Chittagong. He might be planning a port strike.

My carriers are refueled and west of Cocos Islands. This means about 3-4 days from interception. Maybe 5 days if he lingers in north for too long. The whole KB is there: CVs and CVLs and maybe some CVEs.

In War in the East is it possible to have your HQs move automatically with your combat units? I hate how as Soviets every time I make progress against the germs I have to spend an extra 5 minutes moving my HQs up with the divisions so they keep the combat bonus.
