Laddering with DShift can be a pretty damn terrible experience. The only way you're going to even have a chance against aggro decks or midrange decks playing aggressive is by including cards that'll brick you against your actual good matchups.

It has a 40% winrate on ladder for a reason.

It's intuitive in the basic how things play out in most cases yes, but as soon as you start breaking down things like layers or even more simple things like figuring out the optimal number and types of lands for your mana base, not to mention the actual lines of play and basic deck-type decisions, it becomes a whole different beast. I still think it's probably the best card game around rules-wise (though the actual card design has gone downhill a lot lately) and it is easy to get into, but it's not simple when you get down to it, especially compared to these games. I've seen a good number of professional commentators get things wrong when trying to analyse the gamestate and predict the next move (though I'm sure this happens in SV and HS too because commentators are hacks, but it's fairly common in Legacy events).

I don't think that is fair. Yugioh isn't shallow, its just very different than pretty much every other TCG. You aren't limited by time based resources, like play points or lands; instead you are limited by card interactions. Half the fun of the game is coming up with weird combos, and pretty much every deck would be considered a combo deck in any other game. Its pretty much the perfect game for people who like playing decks like dshift.

I literally laddered my way with DShift and I must say its a bit of a luke warm experience. It does well vs Elana Haven, although it does lose vs Seraph hybrids when you drag the game long enough thinking theyre just pure Elana. Forest types are also alright provided theyre not the rare Silver Bolt variants.

The deck has an abyssmal matchup vs Aggro bats and Banner sword. Mid range sword is ver doable. Storm is also up there in the bad matchups list because they can go Storm Bird evolve into Garuda.

I pack my build with 1x Angelif Barrage, 1x Snow Golem and 1x Ice Golem as tech. I keep Merlin at 2 because at times she just clogs up your hand with high cost spellboost cards at the wrong time.

Im on my way to AA0. Thinking of going aggro rune once RoB comes out, but really I would suggest you go pick something else to climb the ladder. I just like DShift because Im a Taking Turns player in MtG

Aggro Shadow and Storm Haven, I love VALUE cards and favor aggressive midrange decks in general. Shadow and Haven are my favorite classes in overall and I try to play Elana Seraph but I tend to just brick really badly when playing it, I've only played it 6 times and won twice with it, one of the losses was a mirror. I'm not sure what I'll be doing as far as Haven is concerned but I'm super excited for Shadow getting new tools across the board (namely Necroassassin, Lurching Corpse, Khawy, and Attendant) so I'll probably go back towards Midrange Shadow.

Control Shadow, the deck is the most versatile I've tried both in build options and play routes, and I really love resource mechanics.

Despite this the deck I'm most interested in trying is Aggro Sword, it looks like it'll be very linear as Sword usually is but I'm excited to see how much I can streamline my build before a popular one emerges.

Well, I'd probably drop the Barrages and Rocs for Sandstorm Dragons (this will replace Barrage as a fairy killer, but for 2PP which will curve better) and Dragon Councils or Bellringer Angels. Both are pretty meh but Dragon has shit draw cards. Shenlong is an option if you can curve and ramp well enough to play him when he matters
