Does it actually use up part of the titan meter? If it says that it costs 20% why can't I use it 5 times before the titan comes in?

No, it's just gained when you get to that amount of Titan Meter. It doesn't consume anything.

In fact, some Boosts can be stocked if you call your titan and build up your meter again. For example you can have two Backup Batteries ready to go.

I just bought this game because it was on sale.
So far I've been playing pilots vs. pilots only because mechs are dull.

Nearly all of my encounters go like this

I had for the most part ignored the Quake and Tribes series in favor of the more dynamic Unreal Tournament with its variety of gadgets, and yet the majority of the games I like the most are all on the idTech engine. It isn't so much speed that interests me, but variety and asymmetry. Weird unconventional weapons and gear, being able to have a diversity of options available so its rare that I feel like I'm forced into a losing battle because I don't have the thing I need on-hand. Most of all, I love a good combined arms system.

Titanfall's Pilots and Titans are the first time I've seen something so different in how they need to behave to perform well, and yet actually working together so well. Games like Battlefield don't even come close. There are big walls between how infantry and types of vehicles interact with one another in BF, and it's lame as hell. Meanwhile, the synergy that pilots and titans have, as well as the means of fighting one as the other is great.

That's the thing about Titanfall that I love so much. The synergy between the frantic and fast pilot combat and the more methodical and tactical titan combat. Titans offer almost a break for you to slow down and relax a bit while at the same time feeling powerful.

Besides tone being able to vaporize any pilot she sees on sight, every other titan has strengths and weaknesses that both sides of the pilot/titan coin can exploit which makes the gameplay that much more compelling.

I kinda feel bad for people who just stick to the meta, they're missing out on all the really cool and fun builds you can make and still dominate.

whats a good setup for running defense on CTF? ive been using alternator with stim and run and gun, and it proves useful to chase down a flag carrier that grabs it and stims away. almost aways shuts them down.

All I want for Christmas is LESS zoom on some of these guns.
Especially the Double Take and Spitfire.
Their default "ironsight" zoom is too much.
26 and 30 degree FOV zoom respectively.

Their default cuts out all peripheral vision, fighting up close (or at any range) with them demands you use your sights but it narrows the FOV to such a pinprick tunnel that it's easy as hell to lose your target given how fast everything fucking moves.

The Spitfire in the first game had a zoom FOV of 55. That was manageable and the Spitfire wasn't completely useless in that game (it was also one bullet stronger at all ranges, yet was still crap, why the hell would they weaken it further?).

Well I usually played CoD because my friends play that too, played some CS back in the day. I liked Black Ops 3 but I wanted to go faster all the time and then the TF2 tech test came out and I fell in love. So when Infinite Warfare came out my friends and I decided to jump ship and two of us started playing Titanfall 2. If you're talking about SP and MP, I started out with Wolfenstein 3D, but Half Life 1 was the first one I really could appreciate for what it was and it blew me away. Also scared the shit out of me.
After that, many hours of Battlefield (Vietnam, 2, BC2 and a short bit of 4) and CoD 4. I also played CoD 2, but only on LANs with friends or with bots, since I just had a cracked version.

I really enjoyed Doom 2016, to name something recent.

Deus Ex is my favourite PC game, though it's kinda unfair to mix that game with "normal" shooters in comparisons, I guess.

There are anywhere between 1.5k to 6k PC players online at once depending on what time you play and where you live. Play the campaign first to get a feel for all the weapons and titans.

Biggest change is that titans are now fixed kits instead of customizable chassis. Each one fills a specialized niche. Titans also lost their shields and require a battery to get one. You can only take two weapons into multiplayer so you have to choose between an antititan weapon and a sidearm. And the rodeo mechanic changed to the new battery system.

My main problem with Attrition is that I feel like there becomes a point where it's impossible to catch up, unless you go on a 20-something killing spree, which if the enemy team is kicking your shit in, I fucking doubt.

Just because it's first on the list doesn't mean it's shit. Ion is a perfect counter for pretty much any Titan, especially legion/ tone. If you're using entangled energy, your main objective should be to poke from behind cover and get your main dps from hitting the titan's crit point with your shoulder laser. refraction lense is good as fuck too

Horizontally, but the spread isn't so great that you waste shots when you're far away. By far the best kits for ion are entangled energy and refraction lense. Entangled energy for back line pokes with the laser and refraction lense for up close melting Titan health bars. It's up to your style of play but of course regardless of build the best strategy is always to flank and go fast

I've been trying to use the flatline recently, are you supposed to keep low to the ground and rely on the slide if you want to be fast while using it? if I try shooting at any distance that isn't almost melee range I get lucky if I hit my target more than once, which means that an optimal engagement is to get as close to my target as I can before doing the slide. The problem is that a lot of the time the slide isn't an option and i'm stuck either doing the spray and pray or hope that I can punch them in the face before they do the same to me.
