It takes 1000 sales to get a physical release and Haruka got a physical release. If eroge companies really only sell 30K copies, even 1000 extra copies where they only get 15-20% royalties isn't anything to sneeze at.

Rance will likely be 1000ish at launch. Through the 9th it was probably 500-600 sales, and then through the 16th it probably pushed at least another 200-250 sales, as a rough estimate between sales chart performance and order numbers. From the 16th it will have another week worth of sales before launch.

That said, the question remains how it does at and after launch, especially as word of mouth begins to pick up. Ideally it will remain in first or second to a new release on the sales chart for most of January.

I doubt that, if it were the case that they sensed the blood, Chaos should've been dead fucking certain about Miki. I'm also not too sure how weak the monkey actually is, he performs quite well in combat, and he seems to have a really fucking long life span.

At least with Rengoku you've got the wiggle room to claim that Rance might've just not had Chaos with him (or I think so anyway, there might be some exception if you do the events where Rance tries to visit Nobunaga), but as long as you accept that the swords can sense apostles, I don't see how you can win with the monkey.

I got super annoyed after picking up that passport but discovered that it was possible to "convert" my save over by loading it on the old version, swapping the script files over while the game was running, and saving again, new save was compatible with the patched version.

Since VI+5D seems to be selling really well, what license do you think MG will go for next? Will they go for the remakes? They could try SR I guess since it was super popular but since it's been fan translated for literally decades it might not be as attractive of an option. I don't see them picking up any of the 90s Rance games since the dated graphics and mechanics probably would put a lot of people off, but maybe they could get away with bundling a bunch of them together or something.

I think at least as far as Rance goes, it is probably a question of Sengoku or Quest.

They could throw Aru on Sengoku and have Maria finish up the Quest translation if they want to work on them in parallel, then release them without a huge gap.


I suppose if they wanted to they could treat it as dual release as well (something like $35/$35 or $60 combined, or some other price scheme giving a higher price to Quest on account of Magnum).

Rance 5D is 1620 yen (16.20 USD). Rance VI is 2484 yen (24.84 USD) so buying the two for 35 USD saves you maybe 6 USD which is pretty convenient, and you get english while you're at it
Sengoku Rance is 2484 yen (24.84 USD)
Rance Quest is 6995 yen (69.95 USD) which is honestly a AAA release price, and Magnum is 2052 yen (20.52 USD)
60 USD for just Quest would be reasonable, and doing Quest and Magnum for 60 USD would be pretty sweet (relative to Japan)
I don't think they'd tag on Sengoku for that and still sell it for 60 USD though, that's a pretty heavy discount compared to the current Japan prices, and we're somehow having to pay for a translation in that price too

I've been playing them in borderless windowed mode since I have never found a way to get fullscreen to not be dipshit and force letterboxed 4:3 on my widescreen monitor rather than expanding vertically to fill the screen, borderless windowed solves that problem but I do wish I could hide the menubar somehow so it wouldn't be wasting screen space all the time.

I see three possible paths for the next Rance games, although they aren't mutually exclusive.

They could go 01 and bundle 02Kaikai with it.

They could re-release SR and maybe spruce it up with official modding tools.

They might release Quest+Magnum, something that will probably come out eventually, because Maria is/was working on it.

They might do release order and get 01 out after Magnum or just do it next, as the remakes aren't consequential to the latter games. Although, they might want to get 03 out before IX, giving Patton's full history before the Patton game.
