Hi all. I've not played in a while and I'm hoping to get back into Monster Hunter. I love greatsword and gunlance and I've been playing around with the styles. What's your thoughts on these weapons?

I like the idea behind Adept Greatsword, but I always feel that by the time the counter-dodge and run to attack happens the monster is already on the other side of the battlefield and that's before taking into account having to charge up the blade. Seems okay-ish for the gunlance. A poke into a quick reload.

Aerial for both weapons feels pretty spammy and boring personally. Up down wham/boom. Up down wham/boom.

Striker seems eh for both. Hit away, use big special. Repeat.

Part of me is thinking that perhaps guild is the way to go? What do you all think about Greatsword and Gunlance this time around?

Who decided to create what is essentially a monster with a pair of dual blades and evasion +1 and then allow it to have infinite stamina?

You would think it would stop to taunt after a double tumble punch, but no, it just turns right around and continues dancing circles around you. Ever since I first fucking fought this monster in FU it has only gotten worse. It went from being a hard hitter that was hard to hit to a flying cunt made of bullshit with absolutely no openings to speak of.

Hyper fucking Gammoth doesn't take me as long as it took me to kill this outrageous cunt.

I noticed that the Renkin style created an item that gradually restores HP at quite a swift pace. I hope it doesn't last long or heal much, otherwise it could be OP.
Other than that it seems like this style doesn't really grant any huge benefits to the hunt that would make it better than the other styles.

Long story short, /4ccg/ runs a biannual competition between /vg/ generals, with one of the results being a spot on /vg/'s overall team for the top 22. We took 14th of 32, so we get a spot for an /mhg/ meme on the main roster.

Our major players on the team itself are hot monkey dick (who choked like hell), BLACKLISTED (admirable showing), GOTCHA BITCH (best goalhorn and a solid showing) and Surprise Pickle (tied for most goals in the last competition).

The roster has not been updated for Gen, though, because I wasn't planning to compete until anons from here signed up anyway, so we might want some spicy new memes in here.

Some of them take more damage if hit on the head. Some of them have more specific hitzones, though those tend to be gimmick fights (eg. Curse-Rotted Greatwood, The One Reborn).

Most of the Souls boss fights are kind of like PVP fights though, the zone you hit doesn't matter much, though they've been improving that in later games.

That was the worst boss in the whole fucking game though. Souls sucks at adding adds to boss fights, even Capra demon is a terrible example as it stands out as one of the worst fights of DaS1.

Arguably the only boss that did it right was Abyss Watchers in Souls 3. Felt like you were just another one entering the fray, it was chaotic in just the right way.

Yeah, Souls is better at atmosphere and worldbuilding. It's lacking in other departments but it's hard to argue that the boss fights in DaS3 and BB weren't fantastic or at the very least memorable in some way due to setup, music and style.

It's like every single one of them are just Fatalis/Alatreon theme.
Not to mention 90% are just dudes in armor. It's cool for the first two games but I really couldn't care less by the third.

Monsters actually have very distinct tracks that fits their theme perfectly. The jungle monsters actually have tribalic theme, electric monsters actually have electric instrument components. Soundtrack is one of MH's biggest strength. The only part where Souls come ahead in that field is probably in ambience sound.

I just have a personal beef with DS3 and felt it's just an incredibly lazy and unmemorable entry.

I kind of feel the same. There were some things I really liked about Dark Souls 3, specifically some of the locations. Some of the new weapons were cool as fuck too, but in general the game just felt kind of...soul-less.
