Is it easier to slidehop with hold or toggle crouch? I use toggle and I find in hectic situations I'll fuck up my crouch and end up awkwardly crouching in the middle of nowhere when I expected to slide super fast

Normally I'd say it's good that someone would have to choose between having a quick backup gun or a heavy utility item for some variance and balancing.

However, because anti-titan weapons are much more useful than sidearms it might be an interesting idea. Like tap triangle to switch to pistol, hold triangle to switch to anti-titan.

Reducing hipfire spread on assault rifles wouldn't hurt either. I think the fact you don't really need to aim SMGs is a major contributor to their overuse in FAST LAND.

Would be real neat if Doubletake had a niche as an anti-A-wall countersniping weapon. I love the gun since it feels like using Northstar on foot but it feels pretty bad to use.

Anyway, I opened up a match last night by shooting an A-wall camping in the head with my Doubletake and he was raging for a good minute.

I've been running stim the most, grapple can be handy to get airborne quickly, and phase is not a bad choice either

Phase is borderline broken if you can use it well and have tactikill on your weapon, but most people use it in stupid ways

It feels like I'm getting bullied by pilots all the time without power shot and unless I flank like Scorch I lose any engagement other than 1v1s.

Never never never never never engage with your shield down. You need that shit to survive, you're too slow otherwise. Only press attack if the other titan turns to retreat or is clearly within easy destruction.

Range mode is good but not to be used all the time. When titans start getting close, switch to close range mode. Close range power shot knocks back so use that shit against charging scorch/ronin.

Always use turbo. You need that dash. Extra ammo or compartment are the only ones worth running. Compartment = burst damage, ammo = sustained dps. I do better with compartment but both are viable.

Use long range power shot to bully down targets at range. It does a lot of damage.

You will get bullied some by pilots, legion is slow and large. I avoid narrow passes where it would be easy to poke you down without retaliation. Power shot does some aoe so feel free to fire that shit into a door/window someone just shot from.

When engaging multiple titans always keep them at your front. Your shield is your lifeline. If your shield is down, you need to be behind cover when facing multiple opponents, unless both are low enough for you to bully down.

Don't pop your smart core at long range, use your boost to not let the enemy titan break LOS. You can still fire through trees and shit when smart core is up, if required, but try to maintain lock. Use your power shot(s) prior to your core, not during.

Spare battery is super helpful with Legion.

i find the cold war very easy compared to the EPG. not as versatile though cause you can only really nail people when they're on the ground or a wall. the wind up has never bothered me. its much more forgiving compared to the EPG where if you miss you die pretty much.

Legion can flank surprise like Scorch, and poke like Ion.
Long range shots are great for pilots and annoying titans, and close is for any standard range engagement.
You got to play Legion more methodical though, cause of the spin-up time on your only anti-pilot option and positioning is key because you don't have as much mobility.
Don't forget your shield, and learn when to use power shots effectively.
And don't get overcome by gun-lust and try to overpower a vortex shield.

Basically playing pure aggression Legion is a great way to end up doomed in a heartbeat. Be more cautious and your toughness and damage potential will allow you to stay in the cockpit a long damn time. Don't just run in chaingun blazing. Play smarter and more reserved, using your shield and burst potential to dish out damage without taking any.

Power shot has spin up time so remember to lead your target as required.

Yeah I only fight when my shield is down if I'm attacking a target that isn't attacking me back. Even then, I keep close to cover that I can boost behind if required.

Otherwise make sure you've got it up. It can take a pretty tremendous amount of punishment and has a short CD. Use its downtime to reload.

Always keep your drum as topped up as you can. I reload at any lull in action, any time I dash behind cover, etc.

I throw arcs whenever I hop on and off a titan for a rodeo. They can probably see me with the giant ass battery icon, but I enjoy being an annoying shit.

Alright /tfg/, my friend and I did some testing with A-walls in a custom match to see what could punch through and what couldn't. We also found a couple bugs.

It seems that only the Doubletake and Kraber can punch through the A-wall, BUT ONLY within ~2s of it being put down. After that, it gets thiccer or something idk, but you can't shoot through it anymore. No other weapons exhibited piercing capabilities, not even Northstar's plasma railgun.

Also there's a rare bug where if you throw your A-wall on top of an enemy's A-wall, his wall just eats yours.

And of course, there's the indestructibility bug wherein A-walls can't be destroyed by shooting the emitter. We all know about that one.

idk if any of this is necessary, but we spent 20min testing and I wanted to let you guys know what we found.

You should test if a Titan can be damaged while it's falling from the sky. Dome shield doesn't pop until it hits the ground. I've always been curious. But I'm never attentive and quick enough to take a shot at one in the air with my charge rifle

The Charge Rifle, with charge hack equipped, can be fired in rapid succession if you swap and then re-swap weapons quickly. You still have to aim but you fire at a much faster rate than intended. In coliseum this can cause problems as beams are now spammed everywhere and all it takes is 2.

If anything, try testing piercing an AWall with any of the guns that can ricochet rounds.

I'm not sure if it was the same case where the AWall has vulnerable frames, but I was killed by a Double-Take with ricochet rounds through my AWall. I can only think of:

>ricochet can bypass AWall by "pretending to bounce" into the indents of the AWall

It doesn't feel like ricochet rounds should actually be killing anyone in a consistent manner and there's some sort of hidden mechanic to it. Like the rounds basically correct themselves within a certain angle towards the nearest target after bouncing. God, if that was truly the case with all ricochet rounds and they allowed that with the Mastiff.

so i have a current goal to regen every weapon and titan to at least g2, even the ones i dont like. im wondering what /tfg/ thinks would be the best way to go about this?

currently i alternate between 3 weapons. one game i will play the carbine along with tone, next game ill play cold war along with scorch, and then L-STAR with northstar. i figured it would allow me to stay "fresh" with each weapon, by playing them all a little bit along the way.
now im wondering if its better to simply pick a weapon and titan and bring them all the way to g2 without switching weapons. im having a little difficulty learning weapons with the current way im doing it i think, that or im just going against better players than me, or im having bad luck/playing bad. for perspective, my "main" weapon is the CAR and im alright with it, not amazing but im usually top 3-4 in games. i dont do as well with any of the guns im leveling as i do with the CAR, even after getting them to level 20. only one that came close was the carbine and alternator.

tl;dr: best way to regen multiple weapons and titans while also learning how to play that weapon/titan
