Yes, there are barges, haulers and combat ships. They can be combat probed, they show up on dscan with a small diamond icon before the name XX's faction Mastodon (for example.) Add them to your overview in the settings.

As an alpha you would make more Isk/h belt ratting in a destroyer in nullsec. With a low SP omega account blitzing L3 missions would probably be better than running L4s.
L4 missions only really become worth running once you can fly a BS/T3/HAC with half decent skills and even then they're not that great compared to other stuff you could do with the SP invested.

To make decent Isk with missions requires a shitload of min maxing and very specialized setups. If you can't blitz them and fly a BS with low SP you'd only make a couple million an hour.

some very weak NPCs will spawn where you go and attack you if you aren't just travelling through, yes. that is if your standings are low enough, which they might not be

you only get attacked by concord when you have a criminal timer. being in highsec with bad security status means you get attacked by the police, which are like the rats you get from bad faction standings except they are more likely to tackle you. you can pay to fix your sec status though

There are some shit tier FW blobber corps that recruit anyone with a pulse and spam invites in local. Even joining something like them is better than being in NPC corps because some jew will sell fitted ships on corp contracts so you don't have to fly to Jita and dodge gatecamps all the time.

You'll learn more in one of the better corps though. I'd check Zkillboard for corps active in your TZ and see if they recruit new players or have some feeder corp.

If you just want to make Isk I'd say Karmafleet is the best option. BRAVE is very casual and full of people that have no desire to get good at EVE. PH is probably the best corp if you want to fly in fleets all day.

A rokh works well because it gets optimal range, not falloff

The Machariel excels at rapid fire high damage autocannons that do reach out very far but if you're looking for max damage long range a Railgun Rokh works wonders
