But Reach does have a higher degree of customization when it comes to appearances. TF2 just has pilot/titan color changes, a paint job and weapon skins. Reach had actual armor permutations that you could customize as you saw fit.

Sure, you could argue that TF2 has more customization when it comes to load outs but that just opens up a whole other can of worms. TF2's gameplay revolves around personal load outs with titans being the score/kill streak that changes up the pace of the match. Reach purposely has a limited load out because players have to fight for power weapons scattered across the map. Two different design philosophies.

It would neat if TF3 introduces customizable armor pieces but that could go against their design choice of having pilots be easily distinguishable. They could compromise and have different armor pieces be exclusive to certain classes as to not break their "theme".

Respawn did an experiment with Titanfall 1 and tried to incorporate what passed for a campaign in the multiplayer maps. You had to play through all the maps, one after the other, in a specific sequence before you could do free play; each map had extended cutscenes at the start and the end, and as you played through more maps, you unlocked more equipment, including Titan chassis.

People felt this was not a sufficient replacement for a proper single-player campaign, that it wasn't a "real" campaign. So Respawn took it to heart and made a fully-fledged singleplayer campaign for TF2.

From my limited experience with the chip I would say Ion. The main issue with auto-Titans is that they aren't capable of thinking about mobility and positioning which is key as far as piloting Titans go: you need to get an angle at the pilots firing from the roof, Ronin, Scorch and Legion need to get in close without running into obvious traps and deploy their own, Tone needs to know which direction to pop his barrier and how to stay behind it and Northstar needs to always keep her distance.

Ion says fuck that, I've got a vortex shield that I can bring up and down at any time, use it in 360 degrees and I can poke long range with my laser.

Still, I wish they thought more about people that prefer to stay on foot but like their Titans running after them and gave more options to control an auto-titan. Obviously he should not be as good as a human and die unsupported but they could've made it so up on d-pad switches between focusing on infantry and other titans while right on the d-pad triggers one of their abilities, for example makes a Tone shoot it's sonar at your position.

General question to the thread, how would you like it if BT's Vanguard class was brought into the multiplayer as a customizable Titan? You could mix and match pieces of other Titan's kits to create your own custom kits. The huge difference in skill-reward ratio between stuff like the Devotion/SMR, or Tone/Northstar, or similar comparisons, actually actively destroys and subverts the game. Yes, you can make the argument that there should be low-skill weapons--but their reward shouldn't be the highest reward in the game. Even an insanely skilled EPG/Northstar combo will never solo carry a game against Devotion/Tone of similar calibre. Even if the Devotion/Tone player is slightly worse, or even notably worse, they'll often yield better results.

This isn't fun for anyone, except the meta slaves. Sure, it tastes sweet when you dunk a Devotion shitter, but a lot of your "HURR JUST OUTSKILL THEM" is predicated on just that: they need to be shitters. If they're anywhere near your skill level AND using a meta slave weapon/titan, the game is over. This is oppressive. This destroys diversity of play. On a deeper level, it destroys the point of a competitive skill-based activity: people with different thought models/conceptualisations of a game competing within the mechanical bounds and rules.

Imagine if there was only one way you could play basketball. Imagine if 3pt shots instead gave 10pt, and shooting from anywhere else gets you 1pt. There'd be no point but to draft good 3pt shooters on your team. An insanely good 1pt-shooting team will occasionally beat a 3pt shooting team, but that doesn't validate a 10pt-3pt-line. We need to see players who can shoot from the outside, who can play fast inside and lay-up, who excel at passing, who excel at guarding, and so on. This is the heart of all games, video or not.

Sorry for the huge rant, but I'm just really frustrated that people would rather "mine salt" than explore Titanfall 2 for the truly great game that it could be.

And as for the trip, what the fuck do you think you are, Batman? Get real.

I'd like a bit more customization to imprint more personality onto them though. More OS options for each one, Possibly one you level up like a faction that is streamed to the Titan and changes its tone and lines as you level up.

If the Vanguard is to make it an appearance, I want it to be in a Juggernaut/Oddball mode with 1 Vanguard vs 4~5 other Titans. Not sure of a balanced and fair wayt to pick the Vanguard (Juggernaut) amongst the players, but it needs to behave like in Singleplayer. Have it start out with the Expedition Kit but you can pick up both enemy kits and batteries from destroyed Titans. Points are earned by staying the Vanguard as long as possible and killing enemy Titans. Timed respawns are in but no ejecting.

There's already a lot of fuckery with the lore in multiplayer and I would find it demeaning to see something BT being fodder like other Titans.

The TTKs in this game in this game are so low that you can use pretty much anything and still do well as a pilot. The only things that are incredibly one-sided are the anti-titan weapons, but I don't see anyone here complaining about the MGL.

AC also doesn't have pilot-combat or grunt like TF. Those change up the gameflow considerably, especially given that Attrition is the most popular mode.

I will say that an ultimate middle ground between AC and TF is one where customization is expanded but never leaves ones opponents confused as to your own capabilities. One of the strongest things about the TF2 Titan classes is that they visibly (assuming you know all the Titans) tell you who they are immediately. Although how they are played and which kit they are rocking isn't clear immediately, you know what they are capable of at the very least.

So, to bind the two, you would have to provide two core things: first, for the gun to always be easily recognizable no matter which Titan was rocking it (hence, having only a quad rocket and basic 40 mm available for all titans could be doable) and have all alternative abilities for Ordnance, Utility and Defensive be visually distinct but similar to each other.

Scorch might be the easiest to conceive of for this so I'll give an example using the hardest one to see tells for currently: Legion.

Legion could choose between the following:
Weapon: Predator cannon and shrapnel shot gun. Both would be visually distinct but likely share the general appearance of how they are held, with the shottie having a shorter nose overall.

Ordnance: Power Shot or Electro Shot. Electro Shot will stun on Mode A and damage in its path on Mode B

Utility: Short/Long or Eagle/Turtle. Eagle mode improves damage to critical spots while Turtle does some slight knock-back with every shot but consumes two ammo.

Defensive: Gun shield or Extended cover. Extended cover has two charges that provide a shield half the size of a particle wall that can be applied to the ground but also the sides of buildings.

It's not asking for casualisation, it's asking for a health environment in which all styles and forms of competition can thrive. This isn't mutually exclusive with skill-based gameplay. If anything, the existence of an oppressive meta creates a huge valley on the skill curve wherein "good but not godly" nets you nothing. The incredibly low TTKs helps with that a lot too. Personally, I would like to see then raised a bit, not quite to Halo levels but higher than they are now.

I think Reapers are a bit too strong against pilots, but they do shake things up a bit.

Can't tell if EVA Phase shift or Grapple is more fun. Really would like to git gud with the Mastiff though, have been OHK from stupid ranges with it occasionally.

My personal feeling about the TTK on NPCs is that it should include a bit of personality for their role.
Grunts should scatter if you kill one of their squad loudly or near the rest. Specters should lock on you immediately like a motherfucker.
One of my personal favorite things about multiplayer in TF is how much personality it has down to the NPC animations and behaviors. They feel like actual inhabitants in the war rather than MOBA creeps

Thermite is a mixed bag. I've had direct Thermite shots on my AWall and proceeded to slap the fuck outta of the offending Scorch and other times, I burn a horrific death from the Thermite shot landing just close enough in front of my AWall and the splash damage clipping through it.

Northstar's Cluster Rocket and Ion's Laser Core are the only for sure and reliable way to get through AWall, everything else is largely unreliable and prone to getting stopped.

How do you even use the Mastiff on PC? I get the lead your shot and I do but it just feels so fucking bad in your hands compared to the other projectile weapons like the EPG where hitting your shot means an instant kill. Any tips? Well, sort of. If you have enough speed and you're quick to aim you can track an enemy if you run past them and continue shooting after you've run past them without loosing too much speed, only to turn around back again and continue wall running.

When you turn around there is a small window before the pilot starts losing momentum, this, with jumping, can be used to your advantage.

Use hold-to-ADS and Phase Shift. The only way to counter unpredictable enemy movement is to get in close. Phase Shift + fast reload is useful, Tactikill guarantees safety after a fight to reload. the fact that the game is a lot more fast paced meaning its easy for players to close distance meaning the weapons that are strong at a mid to short range are effective for a large portion of the game.

Now i wont dismiss the fact that people running grenade based weapons or sniper rifles can't be effective at those ranges because people proficient with those weapons will do fine.

Basically only the volt feels a little overtuned and the balance is fair, but it always feels annoying getting sniped by a smg, i want the enemies to put effort into closing the distance rather than spamming bullets from accross the map and getting lucky.

After using it more, I've really grown to like Holopilot.

I had one game of PvP where I continually tricked people over and over again with it, popping it out to distract a devotion sniper, throwing it under a archway, only to instead jump over it and kill a guy behind it.

And of course, using it to get out of a place that the enemy team knows your in is good too.

See, I think those cutscenes are cool and help perfectly set up a map's purpose. It's a shame people didn't respond well to Respawn's multiplayer-as-campaign experiment.

How do you find or create the opportunity to execute someone? I've never managed to find someone standing still long enough for me to get behind them and execute them. I've got like 35 hours of game time and 0 executions.

You can basically just run behind them and hold the Melee button tho.

I usually just stim up and when I get close enough I hold down F, or if it's on cooldown I just slide up close.

It was against a Tone, two Ions (One of which was a Scorch at one point), a Legion, and a Ronin.
We had myself, a Northstar, a Legion, a Tone, an Ion, and a Ronin, but one of them left on the 4th round for really no reason, as we could have took it back.
Rolled Double Smoke and Optics, and managed to escape from them a few times with my tethers, but the Ronin eventually blind-sided me and executed me while I was doomed. I think 4 or 5 of the kills I got were executions.

I played the campaign a bunch of times and literally never once saw a cut scene.
Was I doing something wrong? Always ended up in some random mission in the middle of a campaign left to piece together everything...

You will, but to be fair you start with some of the best guns (CAR, MGL, and EVA are ridiculously strong) and the 3 Titans you won't have access to are only a few games away from being unlocked (costs like 10-20 credits per, which is like 10 5-minute games if you're terrible and 4-5 if you're good).

Matchmaking is hit or miss but unlocks aren't what will make you lose. It's pretty easy to get what you're missing, and I say that as a shitty player.
