I can appreciate that it took a lot of time and it's good that you put hard work into things, but that was time better spent elsewhere. The flaps weren't very good. Rather than making many frames of animation, and adding blinking simultaneously, you should have perfected the flaps first, and then made a stand alone noflap blinking sprite, and then merged the two. You have to do some basic math to fit them - ie, the lipflaps take 300ms to run their course, and the blinks run at 500ms, so you need 3 sets of blinks overlayed for every 5 sets of flaps in the sprite. The flaps ought to have taken many hours, not the jiggling around of frames. When I find myself toying with scripts more than actually drawing, I always take a breather, and then stop. You only add more frames when you must, because you can't draw to that effect in existing frames.

So, now that I am on vacation for like three months, I was checking AOV and inevitably noticed that the player base is way too low... Listen, even at other servers that only have like 8 people online during evening times, they still manage to case at least once a day, we have 20 people that are inactive and not willing to case, it is much worse than it seems in my opinion

After discussing intensely with other people in the server, we came up with a possible solution:

A fresh start

Now see, this will be just an attempt, if it fails we can pack it up and go back to what we have now, but if it succeeds great things will come out of it. The idea consists basically of making a new vanilla server, with a very low size download (400MB at *MOST*, preferably 300MB or less) and just three areas: Area 0, 1 and 2.

Then we go to /v/ and make threads there just like we did in December. I know that you all think we will get kicked, and that will probably happen, but it'd take a long time, the mods surely forgot about AO after one year, some mods got replaced as well, there's all that thing.

I managed to get 100+ people playing this at the same time in like 3 days, if we can get at least 40 new people from this in 1 week it will be definitely enough to vastly extend this game's lifetime.

The logic is that it is much easier to pull the trigger with a 250MB download than it is with a 4GB download. Filesize IS a problem when it comes to a wacky obscure community game like AO, we are not some triple-A production that can have 60GB and no one will bat an eye

The problem is that other people will find a random shady chatroom lawyer simulator game, which is not really attractive, and they are much more likely to just say "fuck it" and pull the trigger and download it if it is 250mb then if it is 4GB
