As much as it sucks to admit, this is pretty much the situation. No new content aside from a perk that few enjoy does not a general make. flamethrowers shit dual flare revolvers and husk gun are all you need.

Husk gun is multipurpose and capable of stunning scrakes, doing aoe crowed clearing if required, and sniping medium zeds. Its only drawback is limited ammo which is where the flare revolvers come in.

No speed, only defense is armor that can't be healed back, weapons require lots of time shooting to do their damage instead of occasional hit and runs allowing for lots of running and cover.

Commando's good with callout helping a team against Pat, but solo/clutching Pat or fighting Hans, he's only a hair better than SWAT.

Microwave gun is trash, but it serves one purpose. Keeping Scrake and Fleshpound back with right click.

I'm sure that pretty much everyone has suggested it before and I don't know why they haven't done it yet.

It would very quickly add a huge amount of diversity to the weapon loadouts. It's like instantly adding 5+ sidegrade weapons to the game

You should be using ER if you're not. it still oneshot sirens/husks/bloats and could be used to twoshot sc's. Except it already works for Survivalist and would only affect a few perks anyway.
Instead of needing to add code so that every weapon in the game works for a single perk, all they need to do is add the code for 8 weapons with cross-perk capabilities.
You don't even need any complex interactions, like "should this weapon benefit from reload bonuses even though it has no elite reloads," and you don't need to make the HX-25 and Medic Pistol dual-wieldable (although the Medic Pistol would be extremely easy to make a dual wield version of) all you need to do is give a damage bonus with it and people would be satisfied.

West London - My home map, lots of good memories there.

Farm - More good memories, I like the vast size of the map with many possible spots.

Hell - The atmosphere and aesthetics are fucking creepy. Layout is a bit of a mess but still enjoyable. Ironically, was the site of my first HOE win.

Manor - Gives me a nostalgic feeling. Kind of reminds me of what our Summer home up north would be like if the beach turned into a swamp and we let it fall apart.

Transit - Nice ending to the KF1 """lore""", a bit cheap because of the hole room holdout, but still pleasant.

Mountain Pass Night - Still too big for bad spawns like Mountain Pass, but the night setting makes it far more enjoyable.

Bedlam - Also good memories here, the spooky music was a bit nasty but in a good way.

Frightyard - Creepy old warehouse section combined with fun on the containers. Lovely and jubbly.

Wyre - The red sky over the dark forest. Haunting but strangely alluring. I enjoyed it. Not a fan of the underground though.

Moonbase - It's a low gravity space station, I don't have to explain shit. I also liked looking out the window.

Stronghold - It's a RAINY SPOOKY CASTLE. I really love the whole map it's my favourite of the final few maps released. Feels like Stronghold Crusader with zombies and marsh.

Against trash. Always aim for the head since at max level with the right skills you instantly decap anything up to a Gorefast with one hit.

Against Sirens and Husks, but remember to still aim for the head. Sirens die in 1-2 heavy hits depending on the weapon, Husks die in 2-4.
Obviously against big zeds you also want to use heavy swings.

Depends on the weapon.
For the Crovel, no, pretty much never.
Katana, yeah. Though that might just be a personal preference of mine. When I'm charging a lone zed I whip out a quick stab to decap him instantly. A light attack swing can do the same and has the same range and attacks faster, but because it's directional and bashes aren't, I just feel more confident using a stab over a slash most of the time.
For the Pulverizer? Not really.
Zweihander? Maybe, but I wouldn't encourage using the Zweihander at all.
Eviscerator? Well, you usually pair it with a katana to do the actual swinging and trash killing, but if you for whatever reason can't use your katana and are out of fuel (or need to conserve it) then the stab with it is pretty good for what it is.
tl;dr: bashes vary from weapon to weapon, but I'd say generally you have reasons to use bashes. Keep in mind only the Pulverizer and Crovel have bashes that actually stumble zeds though, all others are basically just a poking attack.

It has the same problems as the Scythe in KF1. It has too much damage.
You swing too slowly in exchange for damage that won't help that much. It's better than the Pulverizer (even an unloaded one) against Scrakes, but that's about it.
The Katana + Eviscerator combo makes every other weapon Berserker has redundant. The Katana is lightweight, swings really fast, kills trash in one hit (just like the Zweihander) and the Eviscerator murders big zeds and kills any sub-Scrake zed with a single headshot. You can even specialize your build so you can kill Fleshpounds with 4 headshots or so.

For these reasons I doubt they can make the Shield and Mace viable without going the MP7 & MP5 route they did for SWAT.

In a similar vein, there were issues with zed "teleporting", "knockback" and a bunch of other things which i never really noticed but other people got really angry about. There were also major perk imbalances (zerker/medic were very very OP for a long time, while support/commando and especially demo were very underpowered)
These issues have all been patched out since.

There are also other, really dumb things to get mad about, such as:

If you don't have flare revolvers or a husk gun, let them die. No one in their right mind expects a flamethrower Firebug to do anything to a scrake or fleshpound. Not doing anything to them is basically a job requirement, as lighting them on fire leads to team wipes in an overwhelming number of situations.

For emergency solo purposes:

Fleshpounds you can kite by gently setting them on fire (Mac-10 is good for this) and breaking line of sight until the fire burns out. They'll eventually die, though it'll take a while. Incredibly safe and easy to do, assuming you know the map and no one else fucks it up.

Scrakes your best bet is to off-perk a dropped weapon. Hard or lower you can easily take them out with a crossbow, higher than that and you're in trouble generally. One trick that can come in handy is slow raging. If the bug still works, you can rage a scrake but get it stuck in walking speed with fire. So long as you don't deal any other fire damage while it's slow raged, you can kite and kill it.

Seriously though, if you're rocking the flamethrower just leave scrakes and fps alone, for every time lighting them on fire saves someone's life, a hundred other times it'll end in a huge, chaotic wipe that'll be entirely your fault.

Sure Katana will let you tank a raging FP hit, or even 2, but in my experience, when there's 2 raging FPs, there's bound to be raging scrakes and a fuckton of sirens/husks/bloats left. Getting within melee range of that angry mob is game over.

One of the best perks. Probably the only perk that can safely (keyword here) deal with both trash and big zeds. It reaches the perfect balance between damage and magazine size/rate of fire, and the movement speed bonuses are great for running away when shit gets hairy.

Basically Commando but less team-oriented, less damage, but way more bullets and a stun grenade. Whether that's good or not is up to you, but SWAT itself is not particularly unique.
>Sharpshooter
Very high skill ceiling and recent balance changes finally makes it able to take out big zeds without needing aimbot tier accuracy. Not really viable on higher difficulties though since you NEED to headshot basically everything, or else you will at best run out of ammo and at worst get gangbanged by trash zeds because you need to focus on headshotting when all zeds spawn ridiculously fast and run at you.

Hot, smelly garbage. On paper it seems like a perk that would let you mix any 2 perks and bring the best of both worlds to get a jack of all trades. In practice, you're picking the less bad of 2 skill choices which only rarely do something useful in combination. If you were expecting stuff like increased mag sizes for assault rifles so you could carry a Medic AR + SCAR, what you're actually getting is a skill that only affects firebug weapons at one tier, and one skill that only affects demolitions weapons at another.

Only Gunslinger is really a worthwhile addition. SWAT doesn't hurt the team nor does it really help.
Sharpshooter is great at lower difficulties and even possibly good on HoE if you've got a team willing to protect him and/or if you have godlike aim.
Survivalist makes the team worse because not only do you have a perk that doesn't do any single role well, but you also can't even tell what that role is supposed to be if you don't explicitly ask them.

Since you've been gone for so long it would be impossible to list them all. But from what I can think of:
Medic lost its armor repair in exchange for buffs to damage, damage resistance, and movement speed when healing someone. The first skill choice has an option which lets you also apply any buffs given to teammates to yourself as well. A nerf/buff, but I'd argue Medic is more broken than before if anything.
Berserker now has to choose between speed/damage and tankiness. But with the buffs to the Eviscerator and the Katana being moved over to him, you can EASILY go with a glass cannon build and break the game even harder than before.
Firebug is now utter trash. The MWG is worthless, 2 of its skills that were broken were fixed and now suck cock, and Firebug itself is now just a nuisance that makes zeds wail around and block your vision with fire.
Support is good now.

Not technically, no. Sharpshooter is very good at taking down big zeds, but his Achilles heel is that he's horrible at taking out trash. A fleshpound can be focused down and is a big enough thread to warrant taking a few seconds to aim, and not to mention using the most powerful gun you have on you.
Gunslinger however can easily switch between the two and can run away if shit gets bad. If shit gets bad for Sharpshooter you'd better have some teammates who can save you or you're dead. A Railgun won't help against 6 Crawlers tickling your prostate.
Basically, Sharpshooter is excellent at taking out big zeds, but bad at taking out trash. Gunslinger is great (not just mediocre or merely good) at taking out both.

I never played Sharpshooter in KF1 so I can't say for sure, but I have played Sharpshooter a bit in KF2 and the EBR seems very viable.
You've got 3 primary weapon builds for Sharpshooter:
LAR + M14 EBR
Crossbow + M14 EBR
LAR + Railgun

LAR + M14 gives you plenty of ammo to use against trash, and the EBR works for zeds of all sizes.
The Crossbow gives you a reliable stun against medium and big zeds, but the M14's ammo pool will take a deep dent from needing to use it to clear trash.
The LAR + Railgun is pretty simple as the LAR gives you a way to kill trash while the Railgun is best saved for medium zeds that are an immediate threat as well as big zeds.

BONE BREAKER IT IS!!

I have been playing a lot of Gunslinger lately since it was my lowest class and I just suck ass at it, hit level 10 last night after 3 days on hard. I can barely do anything with a pair of 1911's, the dual .500's are awesome but I cant hit shit with em and aiming with iron sights is a real fucking bitch since you have to eyeball it between the barrels and guess. I end up just pointing at center mass and dumping the ammo while praying when the FP's show up. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get raped early in the match.
My survivalbility went WAY the fuck up last night when I learned to just ditch the group when they get over run instead of dying with them (first usually). The reload on the pistols is so long it turned into my only viable option, just run the fuck away and attack the horde from the side in 30 seconds of looping around.

I really want to like gunslinger because I leveled up almost everything else. But I can see why people rarely ever play it. Wish there was a decent guide.

What to do you guys carry for your gunslinger builds? Just pistols?

For the boss, I always want dual500s+dualdeags+dual1911s+medpistol.
For the last zed waves, dual500s+dualdeags+1911+dual9s+medpistol is about equally good.
What I like to do for wave 1 is just play SWAT instead. Better to end wave 1 with 100 armor, dual 9s, and an empty MP7 to sell than to have to ever touch those damned 1858s.

Not much need for anything but pistols, they cover a plenty versatile range of big bullets or more bullets. When the sc/fp stuns of the xbow/lar were more reliable, that was a good offperk, but now, nah.

They used to 1shot crawlers in the body, and 1shot decapitate gorefasts, regardless of skills, and even then, they were a let down.

Gorefasts/stalkers/clots/cysts/slashers/crawlers should be made vulnerable to them, 1.5x damage. That way they'd be useful for trash, but 1911s would remain much better for mid/big zeds.

I managed to get my Firebug from lvl1 to lvl6 in kf, by just using the trenchgun with my lvl6 support. That penetration bonus was godly and could set like 25 zeds on fire simultaneously.

my impressions

>mace and shield are fucking great, sounds, ragdolls, gore is satisfying as fuck. shield bash does a lot of damage, has huge knockback (sends scrake flying in 2 hits), blocking reduces damage a lot, 4 HP damage from FP hit
>new map is pretty meh, both in gameplay and looks. any map that relies on prebaked shadows and ugly grass looks like shit. volcano erupts after half of the game and makes it look even worse with the smoke, like i'm playing fucking morrowind
>gorefast 2.0 is okay i guess, i don't like him having more HP than the usual one though

ZED landing is a neat map and the volcano is cool, but it's obviously built as a kiting map with only one real hold, pic related, and even then that hold will only last until you get a bunch of bloats or super-gorefasts and you have to bail off the cliff

As far as crossperking goes medic shotgun on support and medic rifle are actually better than their perk counterparts (m4 and ak-12). Don't see much use for sharp and gunslinger crossperked weapons. M16 is still fucking shit, a bullpup with fuckall ammo and worthless grenade launcher (even more so on commando). Nailgun and Trench Gun are okay on support

Survivalist was just a plug to fill the "10 perks" hole in time for PS4 release instead of going ahead with MA or a real perk.
Since Survivalist relies on other perks skills and weapons, even the knife and grenade, it's hardly a perk at all.

The main thing people here complained about is stuff like game balance, the lack of content updates, poor PR, that kind of thing. I think after the first update we had to wait about 6 months to get any new content which really set a bad tone for the game's development. A lot of people were worried that tripwire just took the money and ran off on vacation.

If I'm not mistaken, there will be 3 new USBs and 3 new crates.
The USBs will contain the following sets:

>Mace And Shield (Tripwire-made skins)
>Deepstrike
Since the crates don't have names (they're just numerical) I can't be 100% certain of what each crate will contain and furthermore I can't CONFIRM they're being added all at once, they might be mix-matched or left out entirely, but these sets or items are mentioned in ItemDefinitions.txt:

>Deepstrike
>Rebel
>Jack's Cowboy Hat
>Minotaur Helmet

There's also the Yin Yang weapon skin set and a unknown "Reaper" skin set (not to be confused with the cosmetic set) but since they don't have their own USB names I don't know what'll happen of them.

You can get every item in the game, barring promotional/store-exclusive/EA loyalty rewards, and precious items, in random drops. Anything from Common to Master Crafted is technically in the drop pool. But unfortunately this also includes USBs and crates, and they don't have a separate drop pool.
You get a drop every 24 hours which resets at a set date every day. Not sure when.

So essentially once per 24 hours you can get an item, ranging from a 0.03 cents worth USB or crate, to a Master Crafted cosmetic worth tens of dollars or more. But you're about as likely to win the lottery so expect nothing.

Biolabs is all about staying in the big room, pretty good for training accuracy and reaction speed, because zeds will be everywhere, but no unfair spawns. So with good control and knowledge of best routes it's manageable.

Volter Manor is so-so because when you stay in open spaces for most of the time you're going to be okay, but if you're getting pushed to kiting from the start you'll probably get blocked at the door somewhere in the house.

Evacuation Point is okay, lot of open spaces which are good for you, but you really need to kill Husks asap.

Catacombs and Black Forest are total shit.

Farmhouse is ok as long you stay outside, easy to control and avoid the crowd. Husks are dangerous again.

Prison is bad, with spawns all around you wherever you are.

Containment Station is bad too, the only chance is staying in the turbine room and hope that most zeds will spawn from one side which will make it somewhat easy as long as you can kill big zeds fast.

Hostile Grounds is pretty easy, just don't go below ground.

Infernal Realm is fine, but I don't like constant stairs which makes shooting harder.

I did all maps solo HoE, but on maps like Catacombs or Black Forest I had to go cheap, meaning playing as Medic, where others I can do with Commando or Gunslinger. Obviously shit can hit the fan quickly on HoE, so even on easiest maps I can die like a bitch with only one bad turn.

You create kiting routes by knowing the spawns, there are some places on the maps that you want to avoid. But still it can differ depending on the game, as even the perfect route can have 3 fleshpounds and 2 scrakes coming from there so you have to change plans quick. Avoid narrow spaces, when kiting you don't want to stop, with space you can avoid shit that would otherwise block you. And your primary focus should be on what's in front of you, only turn back to shoot following zeds if you're 100% sure you're safe or they're bitting your ass.

Best guy on youtube to watch and take some notes is probably Fatcat. But remember some of the videos are from old version of the game, so what worked there, might not work anymore.

He used to have the highest movement speed in the game as well as loads of health, self healing and armour, so the medic was invariably the last one to die.
That was toned down a little but now he gives buffs to allies (movement speed, damage, damage resistance)
He's really strong reguardless.

Might be, haven't tried it yet with a good team on HoE. You can do Suicidal with a good team even without anyone having medic pistol.

Played some games last night. Firefriend is so hilariously powerful, even more powerful than they were at release.

It takes roughly around the same amount of Microwave ammo to kill a 6P HoE Scrake as before but Fleshpounds die even easier now and you get like double the Microwave ammo plus the Trenchgun unfucked itself too. Don't even need to bother conserving Microwave like before, both will last in long waves. And it's not even the fact that the perk is powerful, but the skill floor is so amazingly low. Much lower than even a Zerk. A 25 boosted Gunslinger can be utter garbage with bad aim but you have to be straight retarded to mess up with a 25 Firefriend. Point mouse in general direction of feet and/or floor, tap Microwave. Trenchgun takes very little aim to use effectively as well due to spread and high damage. Now put this together with Firefriends constantly moving back and forth blocking your view, blocking and lagging shit with fire, messing up zed animations, flitching and staggering everything and you're going to have a bad time with any class that actually needs to aim.

The class needed to be in the dumpster because it would have completely trivialized HoE with its low skill floor. You can easily beat HoE with all Firebugs, including boss now.

As one of the few people who actually made firebug work after the napalm nerf, I feel like the buff was excessive. Flammenwerfer's aesthetic shits on the mwg, but mwg is just too absurdly powerful not to take atm.

All they needed to do was reduce the stumble and fire panic cooldowns so that a competent firebug could kite and kill an FP with eternal groundfire.

I look forward to a nerf so I can go back to stylishly 360 flame spinning in zed time with my trusty Flammenwerfer.
