I really just want all rifle primaries to have their damage buffed by a flat +50%. Shotguns are the baseline for performance in this game, why shouldn't everything else be brought up closer to their level in one easy swoop?

They are already as accurate as real shotguns. Taking off the falloff for damage over range would make them basically better than sniper rifles. The maps are too tight and the 10o are too fast for this to be not an overwhelming advantage.

Which was exactly what happened, until the strong falloff was introduced to nerf things like the Hek. Now you have a relatively balanced risk versus reward paradigm for shotguns, but rifles are left behind with often times a third of the DPS of shotguns in many practical encounters. Bows too I think; it shouldn't be wrong for a half-cocked bow to be viable for fodder enemies because they are slow weapons in a game about destroying many.

But it's not the few things that are OP. My Hek still has trouble killing level 94 elites (highest I can spawn) without going through a few reloads. Even with such a (arsenal) high status chance the corrosive takes a while to work.

They are about in the right place for dealing with such common elite enemies, the polar opposite of overpowered. If you want to take everything including enemy armor down a notch it is going to take more effort for mostly the same effect.

Like where? Hours long runs on fissures? Killing level 140 enemies on the far end of survivals?

Those are all "for shits and giggles" and don't matter within the scope of the normal game balance. If a heavily upgraded Mark 1 Braton can only just barely keep up in the lesser sorties then a global buff of +50% or even double damage while changing nothing else can allow these weapons to function at 100% comfy levels if you put that much resources into it, while middle-tier rifles can then compete within the current system with shotguns and explosive launchers.

This is the quickest, lowest effort fix with the least amount of side effects and with only a minimum amount of testing needed to confirm it isn't going overboard. Companies looking to make money like quick fixes. The rest of the game can be rebalanced later when you have time to figure out all that is wrong and what to do to make it right.
