Maybe you are doing it wrong. This is what i usually do.

Download and install tunnel bear from playstore.
Close and exit playstore app.
Clear data and cache of play store, play service and play games.
Turn tunnel bear jap vpn on.
Open playstore.
You will be prompt to agree with t&c.
Download game from googleplay link.
Once download starts cancel it.
Disconnect from tunnel bear.
Use your regular connection to resume download.

Works most of the time. Unless your phone is incompatible. Or tunnel bear is having downtime and not working right.

Go to the hardest stage you can and turn on auto grind, then go do something else. Not really much you can do unless you don't mind feeding that 3* some of your other cards.

Best thing is to put one on your main team and auto farm the hardest stage you can. If you want to spend gold can activate buffs and ability to use charge bar attack and stack 2 3*, but I don't like doing that since gold is a premium. I typically just max farm 3*s and 4*s from rolls then melt them. If you wanna min/max you could level a bunch of 3* to 29, wait for one of the 5x crystal rewards for maxing 3* and finish them then.

If anyone wants to reroll and start in this game, now would be the best time to reroll.

3 rolls for 200 gems, at least one 3* guaranteed and cookies for rolling.

It's pretty much the best for new players and everyone who doesn't hunt for a very specific unit. The supposed "rates up" during other events that feature "increased rates" for specific units seem very much alike the mechanic of "IF you roll rarity X, THEN the chance that this unit is character Y instead of a random one is increased by Z" we know from other games. So any other event supposedly featuring increased chances to roll certain Z units do not seem to increase the chance to roll Z units to begin with.

In this case, you get the classical "Among 10 rolls, two are guaranteed to be S class or up", while the regular chance to roll S or higher would be about 10% (so maybe 1 gold or up in a 10 roll), evenly split among S and SS. Z rates are still something of a mystery, rumored to normally be around 1-2% and an unknown rate during rates up like this.

You can literally grind characters out of the gacha. Even if you don't I find it hard to believe that you've been playing for two years and haven't gotten anything. What do you do, skip the roll events or something?

TB has a small dev team and the game is very friendly to free players. It's also not a constant event constant event character churn like many other games and never has been. Refunding would be a shitty thing to do and there is a chance you might get banned. It's not like they try to scam you into spending money, and you can basically get everything for free if you want to.

They nerf the star ocean gacha? I'm not getting 5* as frequently as before...

I started on my main and stopped at around ch29 and left. Came back to it some months later but used a spare that i made when the game first started for the free two rolls since it had amimari and sam on it. Started playing daily that at maybe 6? months after the initial release with some 1-3 week breaks but still logging in for dailies. So not the full 2 years but way more than what i have in my party. I got my first Z and recode from rolling just now but i got Zavizon and Burbaba ^. They are both shit and just annoyed at how this game seems to have the worst gatch ive ever encountered. You can sway the odds to your side but you need autistic levels of grinding for it to matter it any small way. The game is impossible to progress in some cases due to your party and requires you to again just grind. This wouldn't really be an issue if the game had more events and gave out energy regularly like every other game but the best you get aside from your 8 day login spree for one roll is maybe a free 2-3 energy every 2 months. Its pretty annoying and even more so when events are held for a limited time but if you haven't grinded everything to 90 you wont be getting the event items or you just get a severely gimped version of it.

There are two gachas: skill boost and luck. The way you remove characters is by maxing out the respective gacha's stat. Luck is an endgame mechanic and not something you should worry about for now. Skill Boost is the one to focus on.

Every character you get to 100% skill boost will be removed from the skill boost gacha. For the characters you use a lot this will happen through normal play. You can increase the chance of skill boosts happening as >>162243950 stated. Keep in mind that a 100% skill boost character will still be available in the luck gacha, so make sure you always roll the skill boost gacha.

Since the first few chapters all cost 1 stamina, you can do them over and over for skill boosts. This requires either enduring a lot of tedium or setting up a macro to do it for you. You could start doing it right away, but I'd suggest you just play the game and enjoy it for now.

There isn't a lot that is really vital in the Trading Post right now. I would focus on getting further in the main story, rather than farming the Kino and 8bit monsters. They're fairly weak on their own and mostly useful for enjoying their goofiness and to use as recode materials. Once you start doing recodes and are able to clear the further metal zones, you'll be able to have a lot more versatility and team strength.

We also used to go for months without any events. It's only in the past few months with the updates that added these trading post grind kinos and 8bits that we've had more things to do. Even then, you can usually get most of the worthwhile stuff within a few days and have most of the week to do whatever you want without losing out on too much.

You can collect a silly monster with silly otomo, you can farm animata items for the trading post, you can use it if you run a machine team and you can grind them to 100 luck for poverty luck team options. No doubt it will also be used as a recode material in the future, though it isn't currently.

There's not much sense to immediately hoarding Energy for these events anyway and it's suggested to use the first bunch to do singles until you have a somewhat decent team to work with before saving up. Saving 50 Energy takes a while, so you should at least have a bunch of units worth SBing and who can actually beat Weekly Challenges or the Energy Pudding Daily.

Also looks like I misremembered Ticket rotation at the TP. I thought it was time for CoT tickets again this week and felt like the matching CoT event was overdue. Probably will happen next week then, when it's time to roll 60 tickets and get disappointed at Z rates.

The week after that we're possibly get the Mobius Final Fantasy rerun. It's a popular exaggeration that Luck has somehow invalidated regular drops.
