the whole series is ultimately about imagination incarnating into something actually manifest, so it's interesting that his self-worth is so garbage that he sees himself in real life as nearly as unattractive as the shitty pig model his bullies forced him to lock in for his net avatar. totally worked considering how much most viewers ended up loathing him based entirely on that, even after he got less whiny and shitty. then there's the fact that his ideal self in his soul is this sleek thing, i think as far as establishing a powerful contrast it's pretty good

I feel I get fucked by RNG a lot in this game. I usually just close/open the game again to reply battles where I have huge stress so I can get Virtue check (I found that it is about 25% chance of getting it)

- innovative ideas for dungeons; giant FOEs are kinda cheap when you go in blind but fun
- blows its load a bit early (a lot of the good shit happens in the first 2 dungeons, then the couple after that go back to traditional designs with narrow corridors and dead ends and I don't know what happens after that)

it's not executed as well as tried and true games like DT2 but I actually had more fun with it, because it brought new ideas to the table and is just as filled to the brim with content

You explore dungeons with a party and attempt to make a living by helping out adventurers you come across in various ways.

It'll be like a dungeon crawler where you fight, level, res, etc., but there will be secondary jobs like blacksmith, chef, scout, night crawler, historian, appraiser, body guard, enchanter, merchant, etc. You can charge however much you want for your services to varying success, but the end-goal is to either defeat the last boss in the dungoen yourself, get strong enough at your secondary jobs to allow other adventurers to kill the last boss, or to get rich enough to make an autonomous business chain in the dungeons and become a well-known name in dungeon economics.

Other people that agree with me on this? That's rare. What parts about it did you like the best? For me it was the equipment system and some of the dungeons. OA's 'dark zone' dungeons were some of the most fun I've ever had in a DRPG.

I had worked myself into expecting that we'd never get OpBabel too. Imagine my surprise when I came back to vitagen and saw someone mention it.

It was a neat change of pace from all the fantasy DRPGs.

I only wish the game had been a bit harder. Even with hachi pack on, not everything was challenging enough for my tastes. The level limit was a nice touch, but after you get past the level 15 limit it didn't seem to matter too much.

Didn't really rank them as a whole in the past and I don't think I can do it now as well.

Personally I think story and settings wise it's best, probably similar to Coven.

As for characters it's also pretty top notch and the art is definitely among the best.
I like DT2's characters a more though.

The unique stuff, like dungeon gimmicks, character skill interactions and special boss fights are pretty nice. I think it's safe to say that it's considerably above average.

However for the battle system I don't really quite feel it to be honest. For me it's about average. The main minus comes from the fact that I can handle the first half of the game using only auto attack and heal+party heal.

The dungeons feel a little too big, but it's not too bad I guess. I'm a little more puzzled that dungeon growth (which requires luck to occur) and some extra dungeons turns out to have nothing.

The art is gorgeous

DT2 characters are mostly level in quality. I find the characters in Mary Skelter more polarizing. Some are far better than anything in DT2 (Red Riding Hood, Thumbelina), some are a huge incomprehensible shit (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, what the fuck were they thinking?)

The battles aren't too bad on Fear with patch 1.03. At some point enemies consistently appear in groups of 4-5, take 3-4 raw attacks to kill each and hit hard on their own. And I like the blood spray aspect of the battle system because it's satisfying

Yeah I can understand the characters part. Just my personal preference, perhaps I have had too much of CH's style of moe. I do like Red Riding hood a lot as well though.

I'm on latest patch when I started (now 1.04), since I staryed late. In particular I staryed with the 100 items patch.

My lineup is Alice front and the rest back. Alice has 50% recovery per turn, due to support skills, so she seems to be kinda invincible. The back rows are more survivable since they get damage reduction.

The major reasons I had no problems were because
1) the travelling merchant sells very strong armor at around chapter 2 or 3, which lasted till chapter 5.
2) the exploration of the extra dungeons at the end of each chapter gave me about 5+ levels for the next one.

The enemies hit very hard, but after getting those armor it seems like they can't really kill me.

Well, maybe I got lucky or something for 1). It's just my experience anyway.

I do that 100% of the time, it's just that when I'm playing on my back with a folded matress and a pillow supporting my neck, it's still not quite enough to ensure that my neck doesn't get sore. I change my position from time to time, but always return to the one I mentioned earlier because when the neck support works, it is hands down the best way to play.

Yeah I have the same 1 front 4 back setup; I find it hilarious how they give you so many back row classes and how hard the front row takes it up the butt in terms of damage (pretty sure it's twice that of the back)

At the same time it's risky as if the one front row character is down, everyone moves to the front row

My front Fighter has been wearing and passing on the Battle Dress since I first got it from a quest very early on (I checked Ch.2/3 secret shop's strongest armor and it's the same one). They generally get rekt whenever 3 enemies gang up on them. Then again I don't really use defensive buffs in random encounters at all

What extra dungeons are you talking about? Just the parts that get revealed from picking the roulette option? I definitely don't remember getting 5+ levels at the end of each chapter myself though

Seems like it was the right choice to bring Manpukumaru for the Hell survival mode.

Her healing triangle move has been useful to me so far since enemies attack quite a lot so damage accumulates over time and I can mash triangle fast enough to not lose my combo.

As an example, a huge part of the dungeon opens up opens up after you clear chapter 1. I think it lets you access all levels of that dungeon but only selected parts. Part of the levels is also due to doing the quests.

1) headwear, DEF +34 MEN +15 and resistance to an element
2) armor DEF +58 MEN +60. Heal effect boost.
